Ritz happy for Eula
“Unang-una, gusto ko syang i-congrats kasi naging successful yung una nyang mini-serye with Ms. Nora Aunor, yung sa “Ngalan ng Ina.” Then ngayon, yung “Nandito Ako,” partner pa nya si David, best of luck kay Eula,” Ritz said in an interview at Talent Agents’ Organization’s (TAO) Party “Skin: The TAO Models’ Party” on Tuesday, February 7 at Genting Club, Resorts World Manila.
Ritz denies reports that she and Eula are feuding. In fact, Ritz hopes she can work with Eula in a TV show someday.
“Sana magkatrabaho tayo in one show. Wala naman sa akin (problema),” Ritz addressed Eula.
While Ritz thinks working with David is a big opportunity, she doesn’t regret not being part of “Nandito Ako” as she is happy in her recent TV drama “Glamorosa,” where she starred with Lorna Tolentino, Alice Dixon and Zoren Legaspi.
“Syempre, iisipin ko na kapag makatrabaho ko si David Archuleta, napakalaking opportunity nun para sa akin. Masaya naman po ako sa “Glamorosa.” Syempre yung cast ng “Nandito Ako,” magaganda rin. Kanyan-kanyang show naman yan eh,” Ritz added.
New show
She said that TV5 is cooking up a new show for her. But she has yet to get the details of the show.
“Sa ngayon, magkikita pa lang kami ni Sir Percy (Intalan, TV5 Creative and Entertainment head) then doon ko pa lang malalaman kung may upcoming show. Pero sabi nila, may niluluto na raw po silang show for me. Nagta-trust naman po ako sa kanila na hindi nila ako pababayaan,” Ritz said.
She dreams of working with Susan Roces, Nora Aunor and Sharon Cuneta someday. Ritz also plans to take martial arts lessons in preparation for action drama roles she wants to play someday.
“Gusto ko ng may pagka-action naman. Kaya nagbabalak ako na mag martial arts lessons habang bakasyon ako,” she said.
Meanwhile, Ritz said that she also likes to meet Sen. Manny Villar’s son, Rep. Mark Villar. A report said that Mark liked watching her in the TV drama “Mga Nagbabagang Bulaklak.”
“Sinasabi lang ni Tita Cristy (Femin) na gusto daw ako ma-meet ni Mark, syempre gusto ko rin sya makilala,” Ritz revealed.
Told that Mark’s sister, Camille Villar, is in favor of her, Ritz reacted, “Wow! Syempre flattered ako. Masaya ako at syempre naka-feel rin ako ng hiya kase mataas ang tingin ko sa kanila. So, para sa akin na natutuwa sya sa akin, flattered talaga.”
She admitted that she also searched for Mark on the Internet and asked her relatives about him.
“Tingin ko naman mabait sya. Sana nga ma-meet ko sya at makilala pa lalo,” Ritz said.

Gerald goes on a Valentine’s group date with Sarah
“Ininvite ko sya. Yes, magkasama kami, it was a group date. Marami kami. Thankful ako for the opportunity na makasama ko sya,” Gerald said at the press conference for his new endorsement, Mint clothing at Napa Restaurant in Quezon City on Thursday, February 16.
Gerald was tightlipped when pressed for further details about their date, saying that he wants to keep his personal life private and that he wants to give the company sponsoring the event the respect it deserves.
“Tulad ng mga personal issues ko and personal life ko, akin na lang po iyon. Meron po akong pwedeng ishare sa inyo, meron akong pwedeng i-share sa mga fans at para sa akin,” he said.
Nothing wrong
Asked further about their date, Gerald said he doesn’t see anything wrong if he and Sarah go out on a date since they are single.
“Kumbaga, hindi naman dahil sa nakasama ko si Sarah sa Valentine’s Day eh nagmamadali kami. Single sya, single ako, wala namang masama doon,” he said.
Gerald and Sarah worked together in two movies and many people support their tandem.
“Sa ngayon, friends po kami. Yun ang pinakamalinaw doon.
She’s a good friend,” he said.
Gerald shared that he respects Sarah and her family a lot. “Masaya ako na mas nakakilala ko pa sya. Ayun, like yung mga simpleng pagsasama lang. Yung mga bonding moments pag magkasama kami,” he said.
Is the Tiffany necklace he gave Sarah last Christmas a sign that he is courting the pop princess?
“Tignan natin, wag po tayo magmamadali,” he said.
Meantime, Gerald is happy “Budoy” is getting positive feedback and that his TV drama is rating well.
He recently shaved his head to make his portrayal of a cancer victim in the said series more realistic.
“Sa ngayon, masaya ako sa project na ginagawa ko. Kasi natutuwa ako sa reaction ng mga tao pag nakikita nila ako, parang nakikita talaga nila si Budoy. Yung mukha nila nagkakaroon sila ng pagasa, it’s very fulfilling,” Gerald said.
He expressed gratitude to his previous endorsement, Bench, which he helped push for many years.
“Mahirap rin (to leave Bench) kasi doon po ako nagsimula. And with Mint, I’m very excited to be part of their family. I personally like their designs,” Gerald explained.

Jessy: Love can wait
“Mas okay nga sa akin na hindi ganun (nili-link) kasi merong iba na parang hindi naman totoo, pero pinipilit nila. Kasi kami ni Gerald, yung relationship namin is very professional,” Jessy said at the press conference for her new endorsement BubbaTealicious at Napa Restaurant on Thursday, February 16.
The 19-year-old actress likened her love team with Gerald to that of Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd. Fans supported Bea and John Lloyd, even if they’re not a real-life love team.
“Hindi naman sila in real life, pero kaya nilang magtrabaho na magkasama. They can make it work. Sa amin nung nag-partner kami, yung fans nya (Gerald) mabait sa akin,” Jessy observed.
Jessy also denied that she and Gerald go out on dates. Yes, they are close and comfortable with each other, but beyond tapings for “Budoy,” Jessy and Gerald only meet when the network has special occasions.
“Si Gerald kasi mas nakikita ko sya as a friend. Wala naman din akong ideal man. Pero siguro, hindi lang talaga nag-click (for a romantic relationship), hindi naman maganda kung pilitin namin,” Jessy said.
Did Jessy get a special gift from Gerald the way Sarah Geronimo received a Tiffany necklace from him last Christmas?
Yes, Jessy replied. Gerald gave her a Louis Vuitton pouch.
“Si Gerald, I think sweet sya sa lahat ng mga katrabaho nya, even with Ms. Janice (de Belen). Siguro gusto nya yung ganun, professional and at the same time andun din yung pagiging sweet nya, yung friendship,” Jessy added.
She doesn’t mind if Gerald gets linked to Sarah Geronimo, with whom he admitted going out as a group.
"Okay lang naman. Kung talagang sila, eh 'di sila. Si Sarah naman ay napakabait, kapag nagkikita kami sa 'ASAP' lagi niya akong binabati. Minsan tinatawag niya akong 'Sabel' minsan 'Buday.’ Bagay naman sila,”Jessy observed.
Jessy shared that she wants to be known more as a serious actress instead of part of a love team.
Anne and Angel wannabe
“Gusto ko yung parang Anne Curtis or Angel Locsin na walang love team. Mas better na tatayo akong mag-isa,” she said.
Jessy acknowledges the fact that permanent love teams attract a big fanbase, but she would also like to work with other actors.
“If you really want to be a serious actress and gusto mong tumayo mag-isa, it’s better na iba-iba maka-partner mo. Para makita nila na yung galing mo, na may chemistry kayo ni ganyan, ni ganito, nakikita nila na kaya mong mag-isa na magaling ka,” she goes on.
Jessy is slated to do another TV drama after “Budoy” and is filming “The Reunion” movie with Xian Lim, Enrique Gil and Enchong Dee.
Different image
“Ibang Jessy ang makikita nyo kasi hindi sya yung palagi nyong makikita na sweet type. Let’s say hindi naman contrabida, pero may edge,” Jessy described her new TV drama.
She shared that her mother recently allowed her to have a boyfriend, but entering a romantic relationship isn’t her priority yet. For now, Jessy is more focused on her work and on counting her blessings.
“Right now, kung may mangligaw man, focused muna ako sa trabaho kasi tuloy-tuloy ang blessings,”Jessy said.

Shalani mum on Willie, ‘Wiltime Bigtime’
“The show will be in March and excited na tayo to start the show and work with Arnel (Ignacio) who I have worked with for some time sa ‘Wiltime.’ And of course, we will be working with Edu, with Gelli, with Tuesday, so of course excited din tayo,” she evasively told members of the press during TV5’s grand launch of their first quarter shows on Wednesday, February 15 at the NBC Tent in Taguig City.
Shalani added, “Kung paano sana nila winelcome yung ‘Wiltime Bigtime,’ sana i-welcome rin nila yung game show.”
The Valenzuela councilor previously announced that she’ll return to “Wiltime Bigtime” after her wedding and honeymoon with Pasig representative Roman Romulo.
Moving on
Did the 31-year-old television host inform Willie about her noontime show?
‘With regards to ‘Wiltime Bigtime,’ it’s better if you ask them for specifics,” she said. “I’ve spoken with our business unit head (Jay Montelibano). Alam naman nila, sinabi ko naman na TV5 is offering me a show and I also told them that I’m considering accepting it.”
It was Willie who personally got Shalani for “Willing Willie” in 2010. Why did she talk to Montelibano and not Willie regarding the noontime show?
“I think ‘Game 'N Go’ na lang ang i-discuss natin kasi malapit na sya so let’s all be excited for the show,” she said. “I have nothing but gratefulness for the show. Lahat ng nakatrabaho ko sa ‘Wiltime Bigtime,’ love ko. Everyone that I have worked with, lahat yan, mahal ko.”
Shalani also refused to confirm reports that she cried when she was informed about her fate in “Wiltime Bigtime.”
“I think we can better talk about ‘Game ‘N Go’,” she said. “But I think there are some things in life na when it leaves you, minsan medyo malungkot. But then you also have to move on, you also have to be thankful for other opportunities that are given to you.”
Married life
Shalani revealed a contract with TV5 is now under negotiation and that she is working directly with the Kapatid network (“Wiltime Bigtime” is produced by Wil Productions). But as to other projects with the network, Shalani said her focus is currently on “Game ‘n Go.”
Luckily, Roman is very supportive.
“He’s always been telling me, ‘As long as you’re happy with your work, as long as you’re happy in what you’re doing,’ sabi nya, ‘Okay sa akin. If it makes you happy, happy na rin ako’,” Shalani said.
How has she adjusted to married life almost a month after her wedding?
“Okay naman. Although ang adjustments namin, si Roman, he sleeps early. Ako, I sleep late and I wake up late. So pag gising na ako, paalis na sya, or pag gising na sya, tulog na tulog pa ako,” Shalain shared.

The Vow Wins Pinoy Hearts, Grosses P34-M in 7 Days
The Vow Wins Pinoy Hearts, Grosses P34-M in 7 Days
Columbia Pictures’ touching romantic drama “The Vow” stole the hearts of Filipino audiences as it grossed an outstanding P34.08-million nationwide in its first seven days of release (February 10-16) and on only 61 screens.
This was announced today by Vic Cabrera, managing director of Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. which distributed the film.
Attracting a predominantly date-market, “The Vow’s” successful box-office performance benefited from a pre-Valentine and Friday opening – an irresistible formula for the film’s target audience.
“Our decision to launch the film on the same date as its U.S. bow has paid off,” said Cabrera. “We’ve always believed that `The Vow’ is a special love story that Filipinos can relate to, given our fondness for sentimental, romantic movies. Add to this the unmistakable screen chemistry of stars Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, and you have a clear crowd-pleaser.”
In North America, “The Vow” made it to the altar at No. 1 with a sweet $41.7 million gross, outperforming “Safe House” and “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.” It’s the biggest opening for Screen Gems (a unit of Sony Pictures) whose previous record-holder, “Dear John,” is also a romance tearjerker that starred Tatum.
Back in the Philippines, Trinoma posted the highest box-office receipts for “The Vow” at P2.79-M, followed closely by SM Mall of Asia (P2.21-M), Greenbelt 3 (P1.66-M), Glorietta 4 (P1.60-M), Power Plant (P1.45-M), SM North EDSA (P1.37-M), SM Megamall (P1.35-M), Ayala Cebu (P1.21-M), Gateway Cineplex (P1.07-M) and Alabang Town Center (P1.06-M).
Rounding out the Top 20 cinemas are Robinsons Ermita (P1.05-M), Greehills Cinema (P 917,490), Newport City (P 914,345), SM Cebu (P 901,280), Shang Cineplex (P 848,402), SM San Lazaro (P 785,797), SM Manila (P 752,793), Robinsons Galleria (P 733,666), Eastwood Cinema (P 706,372) and SM Baguio (P 588,714).
In “The Vow,” Paige (McAdams) and Leo (Tatum) are a young married couple, madly in love and living fulfilling lives as artists in Chicago. One snowy night, the two fall victim to a car accident. Leo survives intact, but a head trauma erases Paige’s entire memory of her relationship with her husband. When she comes out of her coma, Leo is a stranger to her. Suddenly Leo finds himself in the painful position of rebooting the relationship he’s waited his whole life for, and win his wife’s love all over again.
Still showing across the Philippines, “The Vow” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.
“This Means War” Based on Personal Account of Writer Marcus Gautesen
At the heels of the most unforgettable and most action-packed films “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” “Charlie’s Angels,” “X-Men: First Class” and “X-Men: The Last Stand” comes “This Means War” - the latest romantic-action comedy making hilarious waves screening after screening starring Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine.
Recent (and all) screenings of “This Means War” yielded outstanding scores, which revealed that it plays to men, women, singles, and couples.
Collaborated by filmdom’s most creative talents, director McG, scribes Simon Kinberg and Timothy Dowling and producers Will Smith, Robert Simonds and James Lassiter – “This Means War” is an original story by Marcus Gautesen based on his personal experience. While attending Putney School in Vermont, Marcus was living with his best friend in a two-bedroom apartment in New York City’s Little Italy. Both unemployed, they decided to move into one bedroom and rent out the other. A beautiful French woman took the second room, and the guy’s friendship quickly went south as they repeatedly submarined each other’s attempts to win her over – it was war.
Hence, “This Means War” came about involving childhood friends and CIA agents/partners FDR (Pine) and Tuck (Hardy). Inseparable since childhood, Tuck and FDR’s friendship suddenly goes from best to worst as they fall for the same woman, Lauren (Witherspoon). They are the world’s top spies who’ve been partners and best friends for many years. FDR and Tuck decide they’re both going to date Lauren and see which one she chooses. As each begins to fall for Lauren, they get increasingly competitive and employ their spy tactics and techniques to sabotage each other. Lauren, who just wanted to find the right guy, has no idea that FDR and Tuck are waging war for her love.
Director Mc (Joseph McGinty Nichol) shares on making “This Means War,” “I approach filmmaking with a great sense of what I want to accomplish, but also a great effort to stay fluid. I come from the world of music where you go into the studio to write a song, and you have to stay fluid. I haven’t had the opportunity to be that loose with a film, to be that artistic. That's the irony: because it's comedy you think the artistry is not at the highest level. I would say to the contrary: you have to be working to your absolutely sharpest instincts. I wanted the action to be on point and I wanted the romance to be sexy and welcoming, but I also wanted the comedy to be sharp.”

Shooting Two Adam Sandlers Together for ‘Jack and Jill’
To handle technical challenges of filming Adam Sandler opposite himself playing the titular twins “Jack and Jill,” the filmmakers turned first to director of photography Dean Cundey, the cinematographer who shot “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” “The Parent Trap,” “Back to the Future,” and “Jurassic Park.”
“When an actor plays two characters in the frame at the same time, there are a lot of tricky things that occur – tricky, because the process usually requires you to do a shot with one character in the frame and then repeat the shot with the other character also in the same frame,” Cundey explains. “Sometimes, it’s a fairly simple process, as simple as a split. In those shots, the camera doesn’t move. In those, you film it twice, with the actor playing one character on one side of the frame, and then again, playing the other character on the other side of the frame. Then you go into the computer and put them together, almost like you’re taking two photographs and cutting them in the middle and pasting them down.”
From those simple shots, the process can get increasingly complicated. “We’ll move the camera, have them touch each other, hand each other objects – it’s a great way to keep the audience engaged,” Cundey continues.
Cundey describes a typical shot: “We’d shoot Adam as Jack. Then he’d go and get made up as Jill; we’d relight the set and we’d have to make sure that the lighting was right for where Adam would be standing as Jill. Adam would come in and we’d give him a little ear bud, so he could hear his performance as Jack, which he’d just done. We had a monitor set up so he could see what Jack was doing. Dan DeLeeuw, the visual effects supervisor, would make sure that the shots were going to work. The motion control technicians made sure we were getting the exact camera movement over and over again. Finally, the on-set compositor could put it together as we did it – show us how it’s going together so we could evaluate it and judge it. It was a very team-heavy process.”
“We used a computer-controlled camera – the computer is programmed to do the exact same move multiple times,” says DeLeeuw. “We could shoot once for Jack and do the same move again with Jill.” A good example, he notes, is the scene in which Al Pacino falls for Jill at a basketball game. “Not only do you have Jack and Jill, but the basketball players and the crowd behind them. As the setting gets bigger, so does the difficulty.”
It fell to DeLeeuw to create the illusion that Adam Sandler really does have a twin sister. “These effects took a lot of planning, right from the storyboard stage – but it’s also a comedy, so we all had to stay on our toes,” he says. “For many shots, we’d shoot Adam with a body double for Jill – the double would wear a green hood over his head, which we could remove later and replace with Adam, as Jill.”
Cundey explains how he worked in tandem with DeLeeuw: “The on-set process is the gathering of the pieces of the puzzle – the mosaic that is later put together by the compositors and post-production team. I had to make sure that the pieces are the right pieces – as the audience gets more and more sophisticated, you can’t do anything simply. You have to give them the pieces so they can do something interesting and unique.”
Cundey says that the production had a great asset in Adam Sandler. “As we got through the process, Adam learned more and more about how to do what we wanted to do, and he was a fast learner,” says Cundey. “The great thing about Adam and his creative process is that every new shot is an invention. We’d rehearse a shot and have a very good idea of what we wanted to do, but everything was subject to rehearsal and seeing how it played. The coolest thing about this production was being able to think on your feet – there’d be a new idea, and it would be up to [director] Dennis [Dugan], me, and the assistant director to figure out how we were going to do it.”

Anne Curtis is a Rebellious Sister - Kris Aquino
During the story conference of ABS-CBN's highly-anticipated drama series “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” last February 2 at the 9501 Restaurant in ABS-CBN, Kris Aquino revealed that Anne Curtis, her sister in the series, will play as a rebellious and free-spirited younger sister who will fall in-love with Robin Padilla and will cause a rift between them two.
“Anne and I will represent lahat ng emotions na nararamdaman ng kababaihan when it comes to being in love. Excited ako also kasi we get to see the dynamics kung anong relationship ng magkapatid. In every family, we all have different characters so makikita n’yo how two women will relate to each other. Yung isa responsible, de numero, yun yung character ko,” Kris told the press.
Aside from Kris, Anne and Robin, the series also stars Richard Yap.
Directed by Joyce Bernal, "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw" is scheduled to premiere on second quarter of 2012.
Lolong the Giant Crocodile To Be Sent Back into the Wild
Lolong the Giant Crocodile To Be Sent Back into the Wild
After months in captivity, “Lolong” - possibly the world’s largest saltwater crocodile captured - may soon find itself back in the wild.
In his report on GMA News’ “24 Oras” Wednesday night, Ian Cruz said the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau (PAWB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is currently determining the proper time when Lolong should be released back to the Agusan Marsh.
“’Yung assessment nung area is ongoing sa Agusan para malaman na kung ano talaga yung condition d’un. Sana makakita na tayo d'un ng sanctuary eventually para kay Lolong kung saan pwede siyang i-reintroduce,” Theresa Mundita Lim, PAWB director, said in the report.
Lolong, measuring 20.3 feet, was captured in the Agusan Marsh in September after reports of missing residents. It now lives in a pen in Bunawan in Agusan del Sur.
Lim said Lolong is presently “doing very well.”
Lolong, according to Australian zoologist and crocodile expert Dr. Adam Britton, is the world's biggest saltwater crocodile in captivity. The Guinness Book of World Records, however, has yet to confirm this.
At present, Australia’s “Cassius Clay,” 18 feet, still holds the title as the world’s largest crocodile in captivity.
The “24 Oras” report said there were sightings of another large crocodile, believed to be Lolong’s mate, in the Agusan Marsh.
Meanwhile, environmentalist group Haribon Foundation said “protected areas” are needed for the survival of crocodiles.
“What we need are protected areas kung saan makaka-survive ‘yung crocodiles in their natural habitat na walang masyadong taong nasa loob ng protected areas,” Don Geoff Tabaranza, Haribon’s research specialist, said.
Tabaranza said crocodiles become dangerous to humans when they stray from their natural habitat, which happens if they are not satisfied with available preys there.
“One factor could be, ‘yung malalaking crocodiles they need bigger prey siguro hindi na sila na kukuntento sa maliliit na isda. They have to eat livestock or even human na maaabutan nila,” he said.
The report said crocodile attack on humans should be investigated first to determine the crocodile involved. Residents are discouraged from catching a crocodile on mere suspicion that it is the creature that perpetrated the attack.
The TV report said crocodiles in the country are mostly found in Isabela, Palawan, Siargao, Agusan Marsh at Liguasan Marsh.
On Valentine’s day, two other saltwater crocodiles – "Valentino" and "Valentina" – were caught in Palawan after reportedly attacking a human.

Bay Bridge Closing from Friday Night to Tuesday Morning Due to Needed Construction Work
The upper, westbound deck of the Bay Bridge will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21. Extra ferries and overnight BART trains will operate during the closure.
The westbound deck of the Bay Bridge heading into San Francisco will be closed during the upcoming Presidents Day weekend from Friday night to Tuesday morning, according to bridge officials.
The lower, eastbound deck of the span will remain fully operational. Some local public transportation agencies, including BART will increase service during the closure of the westbound bridge.
The upper, westbound deck will close at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, with a scheduled reopening at 5 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, though the reopening could be delayed by weather, according to the Bay Bridge Public Information office.
The closure is needed for construction work on the eastern approach to the new Bay Bridge under construction, bridge officials said.
BART will run limited, hourly overnight service with trains stopping at only 14 stations during the closure.
Additional ferries will be operated by Alameda-Oakland Ferry, Alameda Harbor Bay Ferry and Vallejo Baylink Ferry. Click the links for each ferry service for details.
AC Transit will not operate its Transbay service over the bridge during the closure, but it will continue regular service in the East Bay by operating to and from West Oakland BART. The all-night Line 800 will connect with BART's special overnight service (except on Tuesday morning, 1-4 a.m.) by operating to and from Oakland's 12th St. BART station. Click here for details.
Bridge offiicials recommend allowing extra time for travel during the closure period, whether going by public transit or taking an alternative bridge to and from the San Francisco peninsula.
