SINGER REUBEN LAURENTE resigned as a member of The CompanY when he chose to perform as an entertainer in cruise ships. "It was a good way to see the world," he says at the presscon of the "Happy Together" Valentine concert where he is making a local comeback. "Sa 8 years ko sa cruise ships, I've seen a total of 77 different countries, thanks to the Royal Caribbean Cruises, and I also get to do what I love the most, which is performing for an international audience."
Doesn't he get seasick or bored being cooped up inside a ship for weeks or months? "No, hindi ako nasi-seasick. Also, I perform with a group of artists from different nations and it's like they're family to me. And thanks to technology today, it's also easier to communicate with my own family here. Yung ships naman, dumadaong lagi sa cities na pinupuntahan namin so nakakalabas din kami para mamasyal and do shopping."
He's currently on a six month break and he considers it a blessings when Moy Ortiz of The CompanY asked him to perform with them and the New Minstrels at the "Happy Together" Valentine Concert at the PICC this Monday night, February 13. "Surreal nga ang dating kasi I didn't know I will be singing again with my former group habang I'm on vacation here. We're all excited to work again together and it's just like old times. We all promise to give our audience a good show with lots of love songs."
You can get your tickets for "Happy Together" at TicketWorld (891-9999), TicketNet, 911-5555 and Viva Live, 687-7236.
