It's Showtime Launches "Jambunganga"
ABS-CBN’s noontime program “It’s Showtime” has launched its search for groups that can render refreshing musical arrangements and tunes to create entertaining music in its newest competition “Jambunganga,” which begins on Tuesday (September 17).
In the show’s Saturday (Sept 14) episode, the hosts introduced the contest by giving a special a capella performance of Blackstreet’s hit song “No Diggity,” with Billy Crawford as lead vocalist, and Anne Curtis, Karylle, and Coleen Garcia providing back-up vocals.
They were accompanied by co-hosts Vice Ganda, Vhong Navarro, Jugs Jugueta, Jhong Hilario, Ryan Bang, and Eric ‘Eruption’ Tai who supplied the rhythm and beats and was conducted by Teddy Corpuz. Anne and Karylle also sang the track’s rap parts.
Meanwhile, “It’s Showtime” also named Cainta, Rizal’s dance group Rizal Underground as its first eve r Bida Kabarkada grand champion for its unique and theatrical hiphop performance that earned the only standing ovation from the judges.
Rizal Underground ditched the explosive stunts to give a compelling interpretation of Philippine history’s remarkable events, such as the battle between Magellan and Lapu-Lapu and Gen. MacArthur’s return to Leyte.
With an overall score of 9.5, Rizal Underground was declared champion and won the P1 million cash prize.

Vin Diesel's Movie "XXX: The Return of Xander Cage" Movie to Be Shot in the Philippines
International superstar Vin Diesel confirmed that parts of his next film titled "XXX: The Return of Xander Cage" will be shot in the Philippines.
In an interview with entertainment editor Ricky Lo of The Philippine Star for his latest movie, “Riddick,” which was published on Sunday, Diesel said he’s “definitely shooting a good part” of his upcoming movie, "XXX: The Return of Xander Cage" in the country.
“The producers of 'XXX' envisioned that Xander Cage migrated from Bora-Bora to the Philippines, so that would be very cool and I’m very excited to read the script when it comes in. I want to find out how much of that is true,” the Hollywood action star was quoted to have said.
Diesel was in Manila last May for the Asian premiere of his box-office hit “Fast & Furious 6.” During his visit, the star was even photographed riding a jeepney and gamely posed for photos with his Filipino fans.
“Every minute that I was there, I saw so much beauty. You know why? Because whether you are a star or a street vendor, you are embraced with warmth and hospitality. The people’s smile was genuine,” he told Lo.
“I knew that I was going back to the Philippines,” he added.
Diesel said during his next visit, he would like to go to the beaches, which he wasn’t able to do in May because of lack of time.
“I want to go to the beaches,” his told Lo “I wasn’t able to do that because I didn’t have enough time. But I did have a feel of what Manila was - the warmth of the Filipino people. They treated me like family when I was there and not just because my sister-in-law is from the Philippines. Every Filipino has a very strong sense of family."
“The theme of the next 'XXX' is about family and it’s a subject that will resonate with the Filipinos because they are family-oriented,” he added.

Richard Gutierrez Should Plan His Next Moves Well Now That His Career Is In A State Of Fllux
WITH DINGDONG Dantes proclaimed as the Kapuso Network’s Primetime King, where does this place his erstwhile rival Richard Gutierrez? When he guested in his twin brother’s new show on TV5 that premiered last Saturday, “Showbiz Police”, Richard revealed that as early as March, in a meeting with GMA-7 executives, he already told them that he will not renew his contract with them.
He added that he will always be grateful to the Kapuso network for the 11 years he spent with them and all the projects he did with them. But he felt it’s time to move on. The question is where? Since Raymond and Ruffa are both with TV5, there’s a big possibility he’ll also be moving here, but Richard says he’s not ready to reveal his new career plans yet.
He said he could very well just go to America and study there but he doesn’t want to leave the country and the fans who continue to support him here. As a freelancer, he also wants to try producing his own projects.
Richard should plan his next moves really well, especially now that his career is in a state of flux. Many people feel that his current girlfriend is more like an albatross on his neck. “Mabigat dalhin,” says one writer, “lalo ngayon kalaban niya ang GMA pati sa korte. Nadamay tuloy si Richard. Siya siguro ang main reason why Richard chose not to renew his contract with GMA.”
Richard said he’ll continue to be by Sarah’s side and support her with what she’s currently going through. “Miss na miss na nga niya ang pag-aartista,” he added.
We admire Richard’s faithfulness to his inamorata and here’s wishing her legal troubles will soon be resolved so that they can both move on in their respective careers.

LOVI POE declares her independence and has just moved to her new house in QC where she now lives all by herself. “Pumayag naman ang mommy ko,” she says. “She knows I can be trusted.”
She has reason to be happy as the pilot week of her new GMA soap, “Akin Pa Rin ang Bukas”, rated very well. She finally appeared last Friday night as the grownup Lovelia Villacorta. The first week saw her nearly dying from her heart ailment after she was maltreated by her mom’s lover (Kier Legaspi). Her mom (Ina Feleo) left her at the gate of her dad’s (Gary Estrada) mansion in the middle of the rain. She lost consciousness and an open heart surgery was performed on her. This is how Gary confirmed through DNA testing that Lovi is really his own daughter so he took her home, much against the wishes of his mom (Liza Lorena) and raises her as a member of the Villacorta Family.
Lovi says she’s enjoying taping the show with her co-stars as she’s learning a lot from all of them. “Everyone is so professional kaya magaan ang trabaho. It’s also a joy to work with our director, Laurice Guillen, who’s really helping me interpret my role well. Kaya nga every taping day, I make sure na preparado ako for all my scenes para hindi ako mapahiya kay Direk at sa lahat ng co-stars ko.”
This week, her co-stars who also start in the show as child stars, Rocco Nacino and Charee Pineda, likewise make their first appearance. Both of them will make the life of Lovelia miserable as they will scheme against her and her dad.

CineFilipino, an independent film festival spearheaded by PLDT-Smart Foundation, MediaQuest, Studio 5 and Unitel Entertainment, will have its gala week on September 18-24, 2013. It will showcase 8 feature-length films and 10 short films.
The public may be able to watch the CineFilipino feature presentations during its week-long run at the Newport Cinemas of Resorts World Manila, Lucky Chinatown Mall and Gateway Cineplex. Festival entries will also be shown at the cinemas of Shangri-la Plaza on September 21-22 weekend.
Competing against 7 other feature-length films for Audience Choice and Best Acting Ensemble awards is the Angel Aquino's "Ang Huling Cha-Cha ni Anita" which tells the story of a 12-year-old girl who falls in love with a 35-year-old woman; years later, a girlhood crush blossoms during the fiesta of Santa Clara in Obando, Bulacan.
Directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, the movie also stars Lui Manansala, Jay Bordon, Teri Malvar, Marcus Madrigal, Lenlen Frial, Joel Ian Pagcaliwangan, Solomon Mark De Guzman, Marjorie Lonico, Leo Salazar, Rhea Medina, Gigi Columna, Sarah Pagcaliwangan and Star Orjaliza.
