Was he a setback to her plans?
“Hindi naman,” said Kylie laughing.
She said the decision was mutual so she didn’t break his heart. Both agreed it would be better to work on their careers rather than their love life.
Neither was their “ change of focus” a gimmick to generate buzz.
“Naintindihan naman niyang gusto kong unahin muna ang career ko. Wala ring third party,” stressed Kylie. “Hindi ako nakipag-break. Sinabi ko lang na magta-trabaho muna ako.”
And that means not just going for jobs but honing her craft as well.
“Gusto ko ma-perfect yung acting ko. Gusto kong magkatoon ng Best Actress award. Yun ang pinaghihirapan ko ngayon,” said Kylie.
After the soap remake of “Blusang Itim,” Kylie appears next in GMA Network’s “The Good Daughter.” She admitted that being entrusted by the Kapuso Network with an original soap opera is a big responsibility. She knows she has no choice but to step up and deliver more than what's expected of her.
“Heavy drama itong gagawin ko and puwedeng mangyari sa totoong buhay. Tapos yung mga ibang characters may kaugnayan sa character ko kaya mahirap siya,” described Kylie of her role as Bea. “Script po ang boyfriend ko ngayon!”
She also has a new leading man in Rocco Nacino who she only used to bump into whenever she appears in GMA's “Party Pilipinas.” She's determined in making their chemistry work well for their viewers.
“Okay lang naman magka-boyfriend pero ayaw ko. Nasa tao naman yun kung marunong siyang mag-manage ng oras niya,” commented Kylie.
Wise words from dad Robin
Her above statement was actually her father's advice to her when it comes to matters of the heart.
“Sabi ni Papa ko, kung kaya kong pagsabayin okay lang. Pero mas gusto niyang mag-focus ako kasi pag-aartista naman dahilan ng pagpasok ko sa showbiz. Yun din naman ang gusto kong gawin,” remarked Kylie.
Is it hard to be a good daughter to Robin Padilla?
“Siyempre, si Papa napagdaanan na niya lahat—nakulong siya at naging bad boy siya so ayaw niyang mapagdaanan din namin yun. He is very strict,” replied Kylie.
She says being good isn’t just to please her dad but herself as well God also sees her every action.
“Tawag sa akin ni Papa ngayon Good Daughter,” she shared smiling. “Sobrang masaya ako ngayon!”
“The Good Daughter” airs every afternoon on GMA beginning Feb. 13.
