LA PROMESSE/PANGAKO SA YO sur STARTIMES NOVELA F Plus: Yes, KATHNIEL in French!

Africa, like Southeast Asia, was colonized by different Western powers, thus the people speak a hodge-podge of European languages. Not all parts speak English. In Western Africa, the French-speaking states, just like the English-speaking ones elsewhere in the continent, love the Pinoy teleseryes. The international hit Pangako Sa Yo has been dubbed into French for its run in French-speaking Africa.

The Triplets, Manilyn Reynes, Sheryl Cruz & Tina Paner, Reunite On Stage For A Concert At The Music Museum On September 8, Friday

MANILYN REYNES, Sheryl Cruz and Tina Paner were known in the heydays of "That's Entertainment" in the late 80s and early 90s as the Triplets. They made several movies for Regal then they went their separate ways, getting married, having children. Early this year, they were reunited in the hit GMA-7 romcom, "Meant to Be", which ran for six months.

Their fans clamored for them to have a concert together, so they're now giving in to the requests of their followers with a concert called "Triplet" (based on the original title of the album they made for Ivory Records then), to be held at the Music Museum on September 8, Friday, directed by Frank Mamaril and with Gerry Matias as musical director. Their special guests are the JEYA Boys of "Meant to Be": Ken Chan, Ivan Dorschner, Jak Roberto and Addy Raj.

Will they also invite their former ka-love teams to be a guest in their show? "Why not?" says Tina, who's producing the concert with Sheryl's Striking Star Production. "If they don't want to perform, kahit manood lang sila."

Tina is identified with two leading men then: Ramon Christopher and Cris Villanueva. Sheryl has only one perennial partner: Romnick Sarmenta. It's Manilyn who has several ka-love team: Janno Gibbs, Ogie Alcasid and Keempee de Leon, but she married someone who's not a ka-love team at all, Aljon Jimenez.

Of course, you can expect them to sing their respective hit songs, some of which have already been revived by other stars. Manilyn's "Sayang na Sayang" has been revived by Sheryn Regis and a boyband. Sheryl's "Mr. Dreamboy" was used in a movie and her "Sabi Ko na Nga Ba" was revived by Sandara Park. Tina's "Tamis ng Unang Halik" was also used in a teleserye and has been covered by Sharon Cuneta and Juris. "But we will also sing the latest hits today for the millennials," says Manilyn. "Kasi ang mga anak namin, puro millennials."

Mane has three sons: Kyle is 21, Kirk is 15 and her youngest is only 6 years old. Sheryl's daughter, Ashley Nicole Bustos, is 16 years old and just returned from visiting her dad in the U.S. Tina's daughter, Luisane Kristiel, is 14 years old. They say all their kids sing like them. "Magkukumare kaming tatlo sa mga anak namin," they happily declare. When asked about how old they are now, they didn't hide it. Tina just turned 46 last August 1, Mane is 45 years old and Sheryl is the youngest at 43.

Among them, Mane is the only one who stayed put in Manila and continued her career. Sheryl lived in the U.S. for a while where she got a college degree in liberal arts at the City College of San Francisco. Tina lived in Barcelona for 11 years where she lived a simple life as a private person.

Sheryl and Tina are just too happy that they were able to resume their showbiz careers when they chose to return to Manila. In their concert, they have a special tribute for the later German Moreno. "Of course, malaki ang utang na loob namin kay Kuya Germs dahil nabuo ang friendship namin sa 'That's Entertainment' kaya I'm sure matutuwa siyang makita uli kaming nagpe-perform nang magkakasama," they say.
