Two of GMA Network's talented and lovable child superstars - Jillian Ward and Mona Louise Rey - are all set to captivate the hearts of Filipino viewers as they headline the upcoming drama series - LUNA BLANCA.
    This Kapuso offering, which is another supreme creation of the Entertainment TV Group, is the first primetime bet of the network for the second quarter of 2012. With an all-star cast and top-notch production values, Luna Blanca will premiere on May 21 replacing Biritera on GMA Telebabad.
  The network innovates once more with Luna Blanca which is considered to be the very first multi-generation drama on Philippine Television. This groundbreaking production will run for 3 generations with a different lineup of actors to topbill each generation's tale. Jillian and Mona will lead the cast members of the Luna Blanca's young generation and their characters in the second generation will be played by teen stars Barbie Forteza and Bea Binene. GMA Network presents an enchanting addition to its primetime block with the premiere of its newest family-oriented drama on primetime TV, Luna Blanca. It will replace Biritera beginning May 21 on GMA Telebabad.

The series, which is the network's first multigenerational drama, tells the story of twin sisters Luna and Blanca and their journey towards discovering their ancestry and, at the same time, fulfilling their personal destinies.

Chosen to play the coveted lead roles in the first generation are Kapuso Network's adorable child superstars Jillian Ward as Luna and Mona Louise Rey as Blanca. The sisters are born with completely different features - Luna has a dark complexion while Blanca is fair-skinned. Making Luna even more unusual is her mystical twin shadow.

Portraying the teen characters in the second generation are two of the most popular Tween stars of GMA-7, Barbie Forteza as Blanca and Bea Binene as Luna.

For the third generation, the adult characters will be played by two equally beautiful and multi-talented TV personalities - Kapuso A-lister and multi-awarded actress Heart Evangelista as Blanca; versatile and sought-after dramatic star Bianca King as Luna.

Adding more star power to this pioneering program are seasoned actors and actresses Raymart Santiago as Luis, Rowena's well-off lover and heir to their family's business; Camille Pratts as Rowena, mother of Luna and Blanca who will fall in love with Luis; Chynna Ortaleza as Divine, Luis' childhood friend who is in love with him.

Completing the star-studded cast of Luna Blanca are Dante Rivero as Lolo Igme, Rowena's protective grandfather; Marissa Delgado as Doña Consuelo, Luis' arrogant mother; Karen delos Reyes as Tetchie, Divine's bestfriend; Mercedes Cabral as Marieta, Rowena's confidant; Buboy Villar as Jojo, Blanca's close friend; Arkin Magalona as Toti, childhood friend of Luna and Blanca.





The story of Luna Blanca begins with Rowena (Camille) who is believed to be the last descendant of Luna, the woman with a mystical twin shadow named Celestina.

Rowena grows up under the protective wing of her grandfather, Lolo Igme. She is clueless of her mythical roots and Lolo Igme would always warn her to be mindful of her surroundings.

Then, Rowena meets Luis (Raymart), the rich and kind-hearted unico hijo of Doña Consuelo (Marissa). Despite the extreme difference in their lifestyles, they fall madly in love with each other and their relationship grows even stronger with Rowena's pregnancy. When Lolo Igme learns of Rowena's situation, he once again cautions her to be extra careful of the supernatural beings that inhabit their land. He tells that engkantos are believed to be most fond of pregnant women.

One day, Rowena gets lost while roaming in the forest. Engulfed in tension and fear, Rowena feels that a shadow is following her. Suddenly, she sees an unknown creature - a dark and terrifying engkanto! Panic-stricken, Rowena immediately faints upon seeing the dreadful creature.

When she wakes up, Rowena learns from the villagers that it has been a week since her disappearance. She slowly regains her memory and Rowena reveals that an engkanto raped her. No one would believe her story including Luis who vows to exact revenge. He sets off to the forest and comes face to face with the engkanto. He fights against the terrible monster and because of its powers, Luis will be banished to their realm.

Doña Consuelo's anger aggravates towards Rowena and blames her for Luis' unexplainable disappearance. Left with no choice but to leave their mansion, Rowena heads out to Manila to start anew. Meanwhile, she feels uneasy with her pregnancy and fears that it has something to do with her horrible experience with the engkanto. On the day of her delivery, Rowena gives birth to twin girls, but much to her bewilderment, the babies have different features - one is a fair-skinned mestiza (Blanca) while the other one has a very dark complexion (Luna).

Rowena believes that Luna is her offspring from the engkanto. Because of this, she resents and neglects Luna but showers Blanca with her love and affection. Despite this, Luna doesn't harbor any grudge against her mother. The twins are likewise very close and inseparable. Luna is carefree and even becomes the protector of the weakling Blanca. Luna's shadow also turns out to be their friend and defender whenever someone bullies them.

However, the twins' life is about to change with Rowena barely making enough money to make ends meet. Because of her dire situation, Rowena decides to give up Blanca for adoption to Doña Corazon, a rich spinster who likes Blanca very much and treats her like her own daughter. Luna, feeling very sad about their separation, instructs her twin shadow to join Blanca and keep her safe.

How will the separate lives of Luna and Blanca affect their relationship? When the time comes and their paths cross again, will the sisters be able to discover their true identities and reconnect with each other? Will Rowena find it in her heart to accept Luna and acknowledge her as her own daughter? What will be Rowena's reaction if Luis comes back after being away for many years? Will Luis succeed in having a second chance at life and love?

'Aryana,' Good Influence sa Kabataan

Pasok na agad sa top 10 overall TV programs sa Pilipinas ang kasisimula pa lamang na magical 'tail' ni "Aryana" na pinagbibidahan ng pinakabagong Kapamilya primetime princess na si Ella Cruz.

Base sa pinakahuling datos ng Kantar Media, no. 10 ang "Aryana" sa listahan ng top 10 overall TV programs sa bansa. Humataw ito ng 16.9% national TV rating kumpara sa katapat nitong programa sa GMA na "Alice Bungisngis" nakakuha lamang ng 12.1% national TV rating.

Ayon kay Ella, mas matutuwa ang viewers, lalo na ang kapwa teens niya, sa next episodes ng fantaserye nila. Aniya, "Mag-aaral na po kasi si Aryana kaya makaka-relate sila nang husto lalo na't malapit na ring magpasukan kung kelan magbabaalik na ang classroom routines, curricular activties, campus crushes, friends, at pati na rin enemies."

Ngunit kung mayroon mang pinakapinagmamalaki si Ella sa kanilang programa, ito ay ang pagiging mabuting ehemplo ni Aryana sa mga kapwa niya kabataan. ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs, the country’s biggest and leading news organization, has begun using the most advanced weather forecasting system provided by Weather Central, a worldwide leader in providing weather data.

Jean Garcia Considers Hosting ‘Personalan’ One of Her Favorite Jobs


During a press visit to the set of GMA News TV’s public affairs program Personalan, host Jean Garcia told the members of the press that hosting the said advocacy program is one of her favorites.

“I look forward to it every week. Bagama’t once a week ko lang siya ginagawa, excited ako palagi,” the actress said.

Since the resignation of Ali Sotto as the program’s host last March, Jean has been hosting Personalan alternatively with singer-actress Jolina Magdangal-Escueta.

Sotto resigned from the show so she could spend more time with her diplomat husband and son who are based abroad.

Jean did not hesitate to accept the post vacated by Sotto when it was offered to her.

“Hindi ko tinanggap ang show na ito because of the ‘money;’ tinanggap ko ‘to because I wanted to do something really different, and gusto ko ‘yung konsepto ng show na nakakatulong sa ibang tao at naayos yung mga problema nila,” said Jean.

Every episode of Personalan is a tense – although, not necessarily violent — meeting of two erring parties. With the help of experts in family/life development and celebrity advisors called “celebrity uzi,” the show tries to bridge the gap between the two parties and reconcile their differences.

Considering the show’s format, Jean is inevitably “exposed” to the emotional burdens of her guests. Does this put a lot of stress on her?

“No. Actually, masarap sa pakiramdam after every episode. At natututo ka talaga e, especially dun sa mga ‘gabay sa buhay,’ shared Jean.

‘Gabay na Buhay’ is a segment of the show wherein an expert helps the erring party reach a compromise by using workshop-style activities like breaking a ceramic plate and gluing the pieces back together to show, for example, how hard a task it is to regain the trust of a partner, among others.

Personalan airs Monday to Friday, 7:00pm, on GMA News TV Channel 11.

Pinoy boxing champion Manny Pacquiao critized US President Barack Obama on his personal endorsement of same-sex marriage.

In an interview posted at foxsports.com, Pacquiao said Obama's view was nothing more than a direct attack on the morals of society and the will of God.

"God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married, only if they so are in love with each other," Pacquiao said, adding: "It should not be of the same sex so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah of old."

Pacquiao described same-sex marriage as an "abomination" and went on to say that America should be the model of morality for other countries to emulate.

Julie Anne: Elmo can work with other teen actresses

GMA Artist Center's Julie Anne San Jose is open to working with other actors her age besides love teammate Elmo Magalona as way of honing her acting skills.

This is why she is amused when people make a big deal when she or Elmo is paired with other teen artists. Sometimes they even get negative reactions from fans of their respective new partners.

"Okay lang i-partner si Elmo kahit kanino like Barbie Forteza kasi hindi naman kami naka-package as just a love team. Siyempre may mga solo careers din kami and we want to grow as individual artists," explained Julie Anne.

The soon-to-be-18 year old actress (her birthday is on May 16) said she is eager to work with different actors to become a versatile artist. With a number of acting projects coming her way, she doesn't want to disappoint her fans and GMA Network which has entrusted her with important TV and movie jobs.

"Kailangang galingan at kailangan dedicated ka talaga. It is an overwhelming feeling and I'm honored and glad na nabibigyan ako ng attention and opportunities ng GMA7. Sobrang thankful po talaga ako siyempre kay Lord and sa lahat ng mga sumusuporta sa akin," explained Julie Anne who's been with the Kapuso Network for almost six years now.

"Nagtiyaga talaga ako and I really worked hard," she added.

Birthday concert

As a thanksgiving gesture, Julie Anne is having a birthday concert on May 16 at Hard Rock Cafe.

Guest performers are Jay-R and Kris Lawrence. Elmo is expected to be there as well.

Julie Anne fans can also look forward to her album under GMA Records which is set for release in June. It contains nine original songs, two of which are her own compositions and a bonus track titled "Bakit Ba Ganyan."

She and Elmo will have their own TV series called "All for Love" which will replace "Tween Hearts" where Julie Anne is a regular cast member.

Her movie with Elmo titled "Just One Summer" will soon be released in Mega Manila theaters. The movie, directed by Mac Alejandre, was an experience Julie Anne will never forget.

"Okay naman po yung movie. Okay yung shooting at maraming sumusuporta at tumutulong sa amin like Direk Mac Alejandre and the other cast members like Gloria Diaz, Buboy Garovillo, Cherrie Pie Picache, Joel Torre and Alice Dixson who for me are legendary actors. They've shown us how to deal with our acting," Julie Anne said.

Movies vs TV acting

So how different is movie from TV acting?

"Movie acting kasi I find it more raw and natural unlike sa TV na medyo technical acting siya na hindi makatotohanan," she replied.

Julie Anne's rise to popularity was met with intrigues. One of them is being compared with Sarah Geronimo. Julie Anne, who says she and Sarah sometimes see each other in church, shrugs this off.

Another intrigue is detractors' remarks that Julie Anne is popular only in Twitter. Julie Ann apparently consistently trends on the micro-blogging site.

"I don't mind because Twitter is one of the biggest social networking sites. Mahirap din mag-trending. I just pray that my album, TV show and movie will all be successful," Julie Anne said.

The co-host of GMA7's Sunday show "Party Pilipinas" admits she wants to work with long-time crush Dennis Trillo.

Raymart to Claudine: Don’t say sorry

Raymart Santiago doesn’t see the need for wife Claudine Barretto to make a public apology to Cebu Pacific ground attendant Kristina Ann Ilagan, whom the actress allegedly cursed out of anger at the NAIA (Ninoy Aquno International Airport) 3 carousel area on Sunday, May 6.

“Mahirap mag-apologize sa hindi mo kasalanan,” the actor said in an interview on ABS-CBN’s morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda” on Monday, May 14.

"Inaamin namin na nagtaas ng boses (si Claudine) pero hindi niya direktang minura ang ground staff. Hindi direktang minura ang anak ni Misis (referring to Rosario Ilagan, Kristina Anne’s mother). May written report ang anak niya na hindi siya minura ni Claudine," Raymart adds.

It will be recalled that Rosario told “TV Patrol” that they will be filing charges against Claudine for her alleged verbal abuse to her daughter.

Kristina Anne claims that Claudine yelled at her and blamed her for the offloaded luggage.

"Alam mo 'yung pangyayaring 'yon nagalit naman si Claudine sa sitwasyon, hindi naman direkta sa anak niya. Hindi naman pinagmumura ni Claudine ang anak niya, gusto kong i-clarify 'yon," Raymart said.

And while he feels sorry for what happened, Raymart explains that Claudine’s reaction was not directed at Kristina Anne but on the incident itself.

Kakalap ng pondo ang housemates mula sa mga tagasuportang manonood upang ipagkaloob sa isang bagong paaralan sa Masbate na magbubukas pa lang sa Hunyo at kulang sa mga silid-aralan.
