Laurice Guillen Directs Her First Teleserye Ever In Gma'S 'Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas'

LAURICE GUILLEN directs her first teleserye in GMA-7’s “Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas”. “I resisted offers to do a soap before as I’m afraid sa three days a week na taping, tapos magdamagan pa, puro meetings pa, baka hindi ko kaya. But GMA is very reasonable. They told me, tingnan mo muna kung makakaya mo. And so far, wala naman kaming puyatan. The meetings were sa start lang nang binubuo ang story. After that, puro emails na lang at nagko-comment na lang ako. I’m really pleased with the way the script is written, hindi revise ng revise. The story is very absorbing. Gloria Romero is the first wife of Freddie Webb but they separated and Freddie married Liza Lorena. Gloria had Cesar Montano with another man at si Liza, naging anak si Gary Estrada kay Freddie. Gary is babaero here at nabuntis yung maid nila, si Ina Feleo. Si Lovi Poe ang magiging anak nila, na inaapi ni Liza. When Lovi grows up, Rocco Nacino and his girlfriend, Charee Pineda, deceive her and her dad, Gary. Dito papasok ang element ng revenge. Helping Lovi is Cesar, who dumps his girlfriend, Solenn Heussaff, for her. Also in the cast are Glenda Garcia as the assistant of Liza, Ruru Madrid as Charee’s brother, Tiya Pusit as the mayordoma and Steven Silva as Rocco’s best friend”.

So how is it working with Lovi? “I’ve directed her before in ‘Magpakailanman’ so we already know each other’s working style. Lovi is very relaxed in front of the camera but malakas ang charisma niya. Kuhang-kuha niya ang character na gusto kong palabasin niya. I’m glad to be reunited with my former stars here, with Gloria Romero who won several best actress awards for our ‘Tanging Yaman’, Cesar Montano who won his first acting award in our ‘Ang Bukas ay Akin’ for Seiko in 1989 and Gary Estrada na ako ang first director in ‘Apoy sa Puso’ when he was only 17 years old. Ang first timers sa’kin dito are Liza, Rocco and Charee, pero walang problema kasi lahat sila, magaling and very cooperative.”

Dawn Zulueta Doesn't Mind Being Second Choice To Maricel Soriano

DAWN ZULUETA was just a replacement for Maricel Soriano in “Bukas na Lang Kita Mamahalin” after Maria had a personal clash with Gerald Anderson who’s supposed to play her son. Didn’t Dawn hesitate to accept the role even if she were just the second choice?

“No, I didn’t have any second thoughts at all,” she says. “Kinuwento nila sa akin ang story and I like naman the role I will play, so why not? At saka makakasama ko rito sina Dina Bonnevie and Tonton Gutierrez with whom I’ve worked before sa Viva, so masaya kami sa reunion namin dito.”

After playing mom to Coco Martin in “Walang Hanggan”, how is it working now with Gerald? “Siya na ang bago kong anak. Sa age ko ngayon, siya talaga yung puede ko nang maging anak. He’s very focused, very professional, magaling siya, mabait, kaya love ko siya.”

She described Coco then as “yummy”. What about Gerald? “Yummy yummy,” she laughs.

In the story, Dawn plays Zenaida, who’s married to Gabby Concepcion. Gabby is accused of a crime he didn’t commit and dies. They have a son, Miguel, who’ll grow up to be Gerald. She then meets Tonton Gutierrez, who’s marriage to Dina Bonnevie has been annulled. They get married but Dina harbours so much hate for Dawn because of this. The tragedy in Dawn’s family is repeated when Gerald is accused of raping Diana Zubiri and gets jailed. “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin” is produced by Deo Endrinal’s business unit, Dreamscape, who also did top teleseryes “Walang Hanggan”, “Ina Kapatid Anak” and “Juan de la Cruz” before.

Janno Gibbs Says He Is A Changed Man And Is Now More Professional

JANNO GIBBS was asked at the presscon of “Pyra, Babaeng Apoy” what his advice is for newcomers Thea Tolentino and Jeric Gonzales. “Ang advice ko is for them to be punctual at huwag silang male-late,” he says.

The writers present laughed since the advice is coming from someone who is a notorious latecomer. “Noon yun,” he says. “Hindi na ngayon, nagbago na ako. Tanong nyo sa staff ng ‘Pyra’ kung nale-late pa ako. Sa bagay, minsan pa lang ako nag-tape para sa kanila. Pero maski sa ‘Sunday All Stars’ na regular akong judge, hindi na ako nale-late.”

He says that even his bashers on Facebook and Instagram chide him for being a perennial latecomer and for gaining so much weight that he now looks fat. “Hindi ko na lang pinapansin. Kung minsan, yung mga anak ko, sina Alyssa at Gabrielle, sila ang sumasagot at pinagtatanggol ako.”

He doesn’t mind playing a gay role in “Pyra, Babaeng Apoy” as Sir Adian, Thea’s music teacher who acts as her guide and mentor. “I’ve played gay roles naman before, so okay lang.”

Does he miss his friend Ogie Alcasid? “Oo naman. Ilang taon din kaming magkasama every Sunday, di ba?”

Won’t he also move elsewhere? “Wala akong plano. Happy naman ako sa GMA. Spoiled nga ako rito, e. So bakit ako aalis? May offer nga na isama ko sa ‘Bubble Gang’, kaya lang tutok muna ko sa ‘Pyra’. Ayokong mangarag-ngarag sa dami ng trabaho at baka magka-late-late na naman ako.”

Lovi Poe Feels Pressure With Her First Solo Primetime Soap, 'Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas'

TWO SHOWS with the word “Bukas” in their titles had their presscons recently. First was “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin”, then GMA-7’s “Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas”. Some writers quipped that it’s the tribute of the two networks to People’s Tonite’s Leo Bukas.

“Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas” is the first solo drama show on primetime of Lovi Poe, so she’s understandably tense about it. When it comes to acting, no doubt Lovi is one of the best young actresses in showbiz today, as her award-winning performances in such films as “Sagrada Familia”, “Mayohan” and “Yesterday Today Tomorrow” would attest to. As Lovelia, the leading character in “Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas”, we have no doubt she’d deliver once again. And she shouldn’t be so nervous as she’s supported by a formidable cast led by Cesar Montano, Gloria Romero, Rocco Nacino, Solenn Heussaff, Charee Pineda and Liza Lorena.

Diana Zubiri To Appear In Two Abs-Cbn Primetime Shows Simultaneously

DIANA ZUBIRI will be seen in two ABS-CBN primetime shows starting September 2 when “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin” starts airing. Right now, she’s also seen in “Juan de la Cruz” as one of the aswangs. “Actually, after I moved to ABS, itong ‘Bukas Na Lang’ ang first project na binigay sa’kin,” she says. “But it took a while before the project got off the ground at isinama muna ako sa ‘Juan’. Pasulput-sulpot lang ang character ko roon but yes, mago-overlap ang dalawang shows na ito, although matatapos na rin naman in October ang ‘Juan’.”

What if there would be a conflict in her tapings for the two shows, then she’d have to work overtime, which is hard considering that she’s now also graduating from her theatre arts course at Miriam College? “I really don’t know kung magkaka-conflict nga ang tapings ko. Sana naman, huwag. About my studies, yes, I’m graduating at nagpapasalamat akong napagsabay ko naman ang trabaho’t college studies ko nang maayos.”

She’s very pleased with her role in “Bukas Na Lang” as Carla, the victim of a brutal rape that’s reminiscent of the award-winning role of Jodie Foster in “The Accused”. She’ll point to Gerald Anderson as her rapist and he will go to jail because of this. Her directors, Jerome Pobocan and Trina Dayrit, have nothing but praises for Diana’s fine performance in the new soap that will be aired after “Muling Buksan ang Puso” at around 10 PM.
