The gorgeous, bubbly and occasionally dorky beautiful girls of Hello Venus are here for their ‘I’m ill’ dance lessons!
Fresh from television’s phenomenal hit “Forevermore,” the magic of the Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil continues on the silverscreen as Philippine box-office hit “Just The Way You Are” brought its winning streak to Kallang Theatre, Singapore recently.
After a strong blockbuster showing in the Philippines and successful screenings in key cities worldwide,TFC@theMovies’ Singapore screening raked in nearly two thousand moviegoers, eager to watch the phenomenal love team on screen.
“Just the Way You Are” is the first major movie produced by ABS-CBN movie production and distribution outfit Star Cinema following their successful tandem in the hit TV series “Forevermore.” The romance-comedy (romcom) is based on one of the best-selling pop fiction book “The Bet” written by Kimberly Joy Villanueva and originally published on Wattpad (online source of stories originally written by contributors). The book and the movie follow the story of a popular guy Drake (Enrique), who engages in a bet with his best friend – that he can make nerdy transferee Sophia (Liza) fall in love with him in 30 days.
Directed by Theodore Boborol, and written for the movie by Maan Dimaculangan-Fampulme and Ceres Helga Barrios, the movie also stars some of the notable actors in Philippine cinema: Yayo Aguila, Tonton Gutierrez, Sunshine Cruz, and Ricky Davao.
Presented by TFC in cooperation with Hello Asia, the one-day special screening opened to two full house shows, composed of LizQuien fans club including Tatak LizQuen and LizQuenfinity; overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs); and local moviegoers.

ABS-CBN’s newest drama series “On the Wings of Love” is set to bring romantic and feel-good vibes on Primetime Bida as 2015’s most romantic teleserye shares a story about dreams, love, and family beginning on Monday (August 10). It will be topbilled by one of the country’s most in demand love team James Reid and Nadine Lustre.
In their first ever drama series, Nadine will portray the character of Leah, a young woman with a lot of dreams who wants to go to America to help her family. James, on the other hand, will play the role of Clark, a young man living in America who wants to give his siblings in the Philippines a good life after their mother died.
As she begins to live her American dream, Leah faces a big problem as she finds out that her visa is about to expire. To remain living in the US, Leah makes an agreement to marry Clark, who is an American citizen, in exchange of money that he greatly needs.
How will Clark and Leah’s arrangement to pretend as a couple who loves each other change their entire lives? What will they do when they find themselves falling in love with each other? Will it fulfill or hinder their dreams?
Under the direction of Antoinette Jadaone and Jojo Saguin, “On the Wings of Love” also features some of the most talented actors in the country including Joel Torre, Bianca Manalo, Albie Casino, Nanette Inventor, Nico Antonio, Jason Francisco, Nhikzy Calma, Andrei Garcia, Laiza Comia, and Cherry Pie Picache. Also in the series are Isay Alvarez and Katya Santos for their special performances.
“On the Wings of Love” is the latest offering of ABS-CBN’s Dreamscape Entertainment Television, the group that created top-rating drama series such as “Nathaniel” and “Inday Bote.”

JAMES REID and Nadine Lustre deliver their most endearing performances to date in their first teleserye with ABS-CBN, “On the Wings of Love”, which we saw in the press preview of its pilot week. It is better than any of the movies they’ve done before with Viva and they should thank their director, Antoinette Jadaone (“That Thing Called Tadhana”), for coming up with a soap that doesn’t really like a soap but more like an extended rom-com on TV.
The story starts when they’re still kids. Nadine is Lea, whose mom (Isay Alvarez) leaves to work in the U.S. but quickly dies there in an accident. She is left with her jeepney driver dad (Joel Torre) and sister, Tiffany (Bianca Manalo.)
James is Clark, the son of a Pinay (Katya Santos) and an American dad who deserted them. Katya takes her son to the U.S. to look for his dad but when they find him, he rejects James and won’t have anything to do with them. Katya soon gets sick and Clark is left with his aunt (Cherry Pie Picache), a former TNT whose own son, Jiggs (Albie Casino), is left under the care of his lola (Nanette Inventor) along with Clark’s two younger siblings.
As kids, Lea and Clark meet by chance when Lea’s pet pigeon gets lost and Clark returns it to her. Lea’s dream is to go to the U.S. to work there like her mom. She gets the chance when she is given a U.S. visa to compete in a choir competition in San Francisco. There, she bumps into Clark several times but they always end fighting with each other. She decides not to go back home to Manila and becomes a TNT working as a cleaner and caregiver. When her visa is about to expire, Cherry Pie advises her to resort to a fixed marriage with an American so her U.S. stay can be legal. Cherry Pie introduces her to her nephew, Clark, and the preview ends with the scene where they are both horrified upon learning that they will marry each other.
The basic material might be familiar but Jadaone manages to make the show very engaging. We enjoyed watching it than any show the Kathniel team has done so far. This is primarily because she succeeds in coming up with very endearing characters. Both James and Nadine are very sympathetic young people who are working in several jobs just to give the loved one they left behind in Manila a better life. This is the first teleserye we saw in its press preview that made us interested enough to find out what will happen next in the upcoming episodes.
Both James and Nadine do well in their respective roles and James’ star quality and screen presence seem to be getting more winning and intense as the days go by. The show has a very high kilig factor with so many scenes that send the audience inside the Trinoma theater, where the preview was held, shrieking and screaming in glee several times.
They’re ably supported by Cherry Pie and Joel, who are both old reliables. The one who really surprised us here is Bianca Manalo as Nadine’s elder sister who’s a single mom. She looks so lovely on screen with very little makeup. And not only that, she delivers a relaxed, very effortless performance. Albie Casino, who is acting na acting in most of his scenes, should be made to watch Bianca for him to realize what a toned down, natural portrayal on camera should be."

The pretty girls of T-ara are very quirky in their latest music video and they are quirkier behind-the-scenes.
