Survival Thriller Movie “Everest” Production Begins
Universal Pictures, Walden Media and Cross Creek Pictures, have announced the start of principal photography on the Working Title Films production of “Everest.” Universal Pictures will release “Everest” in North American theaters in 3D and IMAX 3D on February 27, 2015.
Inspired by the incredible events surrounding a treacherous attempt to reach the summit of the world's highest mountain, “Everest” documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest of elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.
The epic adventure stars Jason Clarke (“Zero Dark Thirty”), Josh Brolin (“Gangster Squad”), John Hawkes (“Lincoln”) and Jake Gyllenhaal (“Prince of Persia”). They are joined by Martin Henderson (“The Ring”), Emily Watson (“The Water Horse”), Michael Kelly (Netflix's “House of Cards”) and Thomas M. Wright (television's “The Bridge”).
“Everest” will be directed by Baltasar Kormákur (“2 Guns,” “Contraband”) and produced by Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, Cross Creek's Brian Oliver and Tyler Thompson, as well as Nicky Kentish Barnes (“About Time”).
The film is adapted for the screen by Mark Medoff (“Children of a Lesser God”) and Oscar winner Simon Beaufoy (“Slumdog Millionaire”). Kormákur's creative team includes director of photography Salvatore Totino (“The Da Vinci Code”), production designer Gary Freeman (upcoming “Maleficent”), and costume designer Guy Speranza (“The World's End”).
“Everest” will shoot on location in Nepal on the foothills of Everest, the Italian Alps and at Cinecitta Studios in Rome and Pinewood Studios in the UK.
United International Pictures will distribute “Everest” in the Philippines.

Sharon Cuneta Gives Way To Ogie Alcasid On TV5's Primetime Shows
SHARON CUNETA’S “Madam Chairman” will have its final episodes this week and she wants to thank all her co-stars and Direk Joel Lamangan for making it all a pleasant experience for her. She also wants to thank all the viewers who followed the show during its five-month run. “Mami-miss ko lahat ng mga naging katrabaho ko rito from October to February kasi naging maganda talaga ang samahan naming lahat,” she says. “I will also miss the character I play, si Bebeth, kasi she made me appear more human in the eyes of the audience.”
Replacing it starting March 3 is another tawa-serye, “Confessions of a Torpe” starring Ogie Alcasid, Alice Dixson, Gelli de Belen, Bibeth Orteza, Bayani Agbayani, Mark Neumann, Jojo Alejar and more, directed by Soxy Topacio. Ogie, Bayani and Jojo will be special guests in the last episodes of “Madam Chairman” to officially introduce “Confessions of a Torpe” to TV viewers. As for Shawie, she’ll rest for a while then tape a new show, “My Pirated Family”, which will reunite her with ex-BF Richard Gomez.
Meantime, Aga Muhlach’s hit game show, “Let’s Ask Pilipinas”, will not fade out like “Madam Chairman” but will be extended for six more months since both viewers and advertisers continue to support it. When it ends, Aga will then start taping a soap with Derek Ramsay, “My Brother’s Keeper”.
