Cosplayer and TV host Alodia Gosiengfiao is trying her hand in acting. She plays a Korean girl in the movie sequel “Kimmy Dora and The Temple of Kyeme,” starring Eugene Domingo, Dingdong Dantes and Miriam Quiambao.
“I can say this would mark my first one. It felt amazing to see such talented people come together to produce this. I'm just very glad and honored to be part of it,” Alodia told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! in an e-mail interview.
Working with Eugene
The newbie actress is thrilled to work with Eugene and director Joyce Bernal, who has megged many hit movies. “They are really funny and friendly and not to mention really talented in their respective fields. Ate Uge (Eugene) didn't exactly give me tips but watching her work was more than enough. She acts so naturally in front of the camera,” Alodia said.
Alodia seemed more interested in hosting at first. However, her experience in “Kimmy Dora” sparked her interest in acting,
“If I could do both, I would. But experiencing acting has definitely made me want to do more,” she said.
Looking Korean is easy for Alodia, who speaks the language in the movie. But acting is a different story.
“I thought of the Korean dramas I've watched in the past and tried to put myself in those kinds of settings. I also practiced a bit of Korean, hopefully to get the pronunciations right when I deliver the lines,” she revealed.
Meeting Super Junior’s Kim Hee Chul
Alodia and some of her co-stars like Eugene, Ariel Ureta, Miriam Quiambao and Mura just came back from filming in Korea, where they also got the chance to meet K-pop idol Kim Hee Chul of Super Junior at their cast party. Hee Chul, who is currently serving his military duty in Korea, is a friend of one of the cast members, a Korean actress.
Before she met Hee Chul in person, Alodia’s uploaded video of her talking to the K-pop idol on the phone went abuzz online. The video showed Hee Chul’s number, and Alodia immediately blurred it. Many fans reacted and Alodia apologized to Heechul and their fans, or Elfs.
“When we met, the first thing I said was ‘Mianhe’ which means ‘I'm sorry’ in Korean. But he said "No, no, it's okay.’ It was such a great feeling to hear it directly from him. He was such a nice person, so cute,” Alodia revealed.
Some of the cast members didn’t know who Hee Chul is when he first came to the set. But they later got excited to know him more and take pictures with him. Photos of Hee Chul mingling with the cast and crew of the movie, including a picture of Hee Chul with Alodia, Eugene and Joyce, spread online.
“It was unbelievable, very unexpected! They were also surprised but very happy and excited to take photos with him. He looks so much cuter in person,” Alodia exclaimed.
Alodia also shared how their interaction with Hee Chul went. Alodia and Hee Chul, who both love computer games and cosplay, showed each other’s cosplay photos. She also sung “Sorry, Sorry.”
“Heechul was amazing. He sat next to me and the first thing he showed me was his gray shorthaired cat on his iPhone. Then I showed him my pet cat, Tako,” she said. Hee Chul’s cat, Heebum is also popular among his fans.
Since popular K-pop group Super Junior may not be able to come to Manila for a concert this year, Alodia did not forget to tell Hee Chul how much Filipino fans love them.
“He said ‘Thank you!’ I really hope he comes to the Philippines along with the rest of the group,” Alodia said.
The cast of “Kimmy Dora and The Temple of Kyeme” returned to the Philippines last Feb. 7.

Dingdong Dantes
No Valentine's day for Dingdong and Marian?
Dingdong Dantes is so busy these days he and girlfriend Marian Rivera haven’t found time to discuss what they will do on Valentine’s Day.
Dingdong, for one, hopes his ladylove will watch him guest in Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez’s Valentine concert, “Mr. and Mrs. A” on Feb. 14 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum so he can get extra moral support and find time to date her “kung maaga matapos ang concert.”
He’s not afraid Valentine’s Day for him and Marian will be boring. Years of dating Marian exclusively have proven that he doesn’t have to plan anything with her for things to work out well.
“Usually, lumalabas na lang an pag malapit na (ang Valentine’s Day),” he says after the launch of “Empower Deo Cologne” for Bench at Main Atrium of Mall of Asia last Feb. 4.
Dingdong takes his hat off to Marian for finding time despite her busy schedule to whip up dishes for him.
“Kung gusto, marami namang paraan,” Marian used to say.
Healthy meals
Marian’s healthy meals help Dingdong maintain the to-die-for body that he partly bared when he went shirtless, to the crowd’s delight at the jampacked venue.
“Magaling ang cook ko. Pinaghahandaan niya ako ng masarap na isda.”
Dingdong admits keeping in shape is not easy.
“Kaya idol ko ang mga models (referring to the group that shared the stage with him that night). I envy them because ginagawa nila parati yan.”
Dingdong thinks not watching one’s diet could sometimes lead to mood changes. And that’s the last thing on his mind right now since Dingdong feels as inspired as can be, thanks to “people I love na gusto kong pasayahin.”
These people, he goes on, empower him, motivating him to do things he himself never imagined himself doing.
Dingdong will next be seen in the GMA drama series “My Beloved”, his reunion project with Marian, starting Feb.13.

Wendy Tabusalla
“Lahat kaya niyang gawin.
