“Kids and families will learn a lot of lessons in ‘Yamishita’s Treasures,’ especially about giving importance to the real treasures in our life such as family, friends, and love,” said Julia, who will portray the character of a fairy named Tanya.

Ed Sheeran arrives in Manila, Philippines for concert, but for Ted
Failon, Ed Sheeran is just no one, a "nameless" person when he asked
"Sino ba si Ed Sheeran?" ("Who is Ed Sheeran?")
Ed Sheeran 's Manila arrival this afternoon has been met with
controversies. First, as reported on TV Patrol, his companion
reportedly blocked a Filipino press member from getting near to the
British singer and called him a "monkey". Second is that statement by
news anchor Ted Failon right after the report was shown on TV Patrol.
Ed Sheeran is a British singer, whose hits include 'Lego House' and
'Thinkin' Out Loud', the latter being his massively popular single
around the world.
But for Ted Failon's world, the name Ed Sheeran does not exist. He
asked co-anchor Noli De Castro, "Sino ba si Ed Sheeran? Sorry ha, pero
sino ba siya?" (Who is Ed Sheeran? Sorry, but who is he?)
Noli replied, "Yung kumanta ng Thinking Out Loud." The older anchor
surprisingly knows Ed Sheeran, but not Ted Failon, who probably just
fired back after hearing that report about Ed Sheeran's companion
calling out a Filipino photographer at the airport as "monkey".
And if he is really not familiar with Sheeran, 'coz he's probably got
stuck up from old school music, but it would have been better if Ted
just kept it to himself, 'coz a news anchor, he is expected to know
everything and be familiar with what's being reported in their news
program.
Ed Sheeran Live in Manila concert will be held at the Mall of Asia
Arena Thursday night, March 12, 2015.

The latest movie franchise “The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” to hit screens this March 18 exclusive at Ayala Malls Cinemas is an unprecedented move from producers Graham Broadbent and Peter Czernin since they were initially cautious about a sequel for an indie film that never anticipated anything of the sort. There was a certain boldness to doing something unprecedented: revisiting characters who are not action heroes, or part of a franchise.
“What was so widely enjoyed about the first movie is that it was an emotionally engaging story told with humor,” says Broadbent. “The only reservation we had about making a second was that it needed to be a film of equal merit.”
The new film “The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” takes up a short time after the first one “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” ended. Sonny is now engaged to the beautiful Sunaina (Ms Desai) and they are planning a lavish wedding. Sonny also dreams of opening a second hotel to expand his blossoming business and along with Muriel (Maggie Smith) travels to the US in a bid to convince a leisure group to invest in his scheme.
They return hopeful that it will happen, but on guard that one of the chain’s hotel inspectors will secretly be paying the Marigold a visit to check that it’s all that Sonny and Muriel claim it to be – and that will decide whether much needed investment will follow. When the handsome, rich Kush (Shazad Latif) – one of Sunaina’s family’s close friends – arrives on the scene, Sonny fears that not only is he a rival for her affections, but he could also wreck his business plans by buying the building he has earmarked for his second Marigold.
The hotel’s guests have settled into life in their adopted land; Evelyn (Dame Judi Dench) has been offered a job as a buyer for a fabrics company and Douglas Ainslee (Bill Nighy) hopes that their friendship will deepen into a romance. She remains hesitant even though she is clearly taken with Ainslee.
Madge Hardcastle (Celia Imrie) is being wooed by two very eligible local men, and is trying to decide which one she would choose should he pop the question. Norman (Ronald Pickup) begins to fear that his wife, Carol (Diana Hardcastle), is having an affair. When two newcomers arrive to stay at the Marigold – the mysterious writer Guy (Richard Gere) and another Brit, Lavinia (Tamsin Grieg), who claims she is researching a place where her mother might stay – Sonny is convinced the handsome American is the undercover inspector and promptly offers him the best room in the hotel and a personal tour of the area.
On the set, the magical connections of the first film reasserted themselves, but in new ways. Director John Madden was especially interested in the way this second chapter reveals the vital links between generations. “A big part of “The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” is the juxtaposition of youth and age, an idea emblematized in the closing frames of the first film,” he says. “This story’s climax extrapolates that idea into something more profound - about handing things on, about transmitting what is most valuable about our experience and knowledge, not just from one culture to another, but from one age group to the next.”

Veering away from formulaic action thrillers known to audiences worldwide, Sean Penn and director Pierre Morel (“Taken”) amps and reinvigorates the action genre in the upcoming badass movie “The Gunman.”
“The Gunman” apart from being helmed by Morel, known for launching the highly-acclaimed “Taken” franchise which made Liam Neeson a worldwide badass action hero, is also written by Peter Travis, Don McPherson and Sean Penn.
Penn takes on the role of Jim Terrier in “The Gunman,” an ex-special forces government contractor who is hailed as the best in his league but also bears a questionable past. Now working as a humanitarian with an NGO trying to make a better life and redeem himself. But Jim’s past soon catches up when associates from his past come back to hunt and kill him.
Based on the acclaimed French novel, “The Prone Gunman” written in the eighties by Jean-Patrick Manchette, the producers were attracted by the aura of action-focused film noir where men like Jim exist. “The book had the basics of a classic thriller and although the script brings the action up to date, there is grounding in reality. I’m not interested in Superman. I like to work with human beings, with their flaws. Terrier is real, and he has limitations,” notes director Morel.
About his lead actor, Morel says, “Often, action films lack deep thoughtful characters but Sean’s body of work is so interesting that casting him immediately makes the story more dense. Once actors of his stature decide to engage in this genre, like Liam Neeson in ‘Taken,’ they want to do things for themselves. They want to go all the way for the character, and I encourage this. I don’t think an audience can be fooled any more. Sean trained for hours every day, from preproduction throughout the shoot, and that adds another layer of intensity to the role.”
Penn who has devoted time to humanitarian works especially in Haiti says that “The Gunman” is a very human story, “The territory that the story inhabits is a pretty high octane environment. You are taking someone coming out of the elite forces, basically a high performing athlete who has had a career full of hits, and putting him into another league to do it all again as a contractor, or mercenary, when he retires from the forces. What happens next is inherently interesting and can be very moving. I’ve met people like Jim, conflicted characters on the front line, and that informs the dialogue and the action. We have a whole new breed of war heroes who go on to continue in the same line of work, outside the forces,” shares Penn.
“The Gunman is full of things you’ve never seen before. I always like to do things that are fresh and original,” says producer Andrew Rona. “This has romance, and an action character pulled back into a world he has left. It is full of twists and turns. A good story, good characters, a strong movie star surrounded by an interesting cast, a good director, a talented crew and a great city,” concludes Rona of “The Gunman.”
Prepare for this year’s unique action movie to open this year when “The Gunman” opens March 18 in cinemas across the Phils. from OctoArts Films International.
