Julia finds joy in providing for family
“Masaya ako kasi noon pa lang, hindi ko ini-expect na magkakabahay ako. Akala ko sa age na 25 pa ako magkakabahay. Hindi ko akalain na sa 17th birthday ko, magkakaroon ako ng gift sa kanila, itong bahay,” Julia told Yahoo! Philippines OMG and some members of the press at the house blessing on Tuesday, March 20.
Also present were Julia’s friends from showbiz, including Susan Roces, Melissa Ricks, Kathryn Bernardo, Enrique Gil, Sam Concepcion, Janus del Prado, and the Star Magic team.
No more monthly rent
Julia is glad her family no longer has to worry about paying the rent every month. And she’s willing to sacrifice even more for her family.
“Lahat kaya kong i-give up, kahit yung mga pangarap ko, basta para sa family ko,” a teary-eyed Julia said.
The Kapamilya actress, who turned 17 on Monday, March 19, continues to count her blessings.
“Nabago kasi ngayon hindi na ako namomroblema lalo na sa mga pag-aaral ng kapatid ko. Umabot ako sa point na if kaya kong tumigil ako, titigil ako para sa mga kapatid ko. Masasabi ko na secured na rin sila,” she added.
Julia’s birthday wish is for more blessings and happiness.
“(Sana) magtuloy-tuloy lang yung happiness. Hindi ko ma-express kung gaano ako kasaya ngayon. More than happiness, siguro, magtuloy-tuloy lang talaga ito, yung career ko at mas lalo pa kaming maging okay ng family ko.”
She may have turned a year older, but Julia admits she still needs to act in a more mature, ladylike way.
“Awkward kasi yung kilos ko ganoon pa rin. Sinasabi nila na ‘Dalaga ka na, umayos ka ng tayo.’ Hindi ko alam kung paanong ayos kasi feeling ko okay lang naman ako,” she jokes.
Good reviews
Even if her role in “Walang Hanggan” requires her to act like someone more mature than she is in real life, Julia shares that she has been getting good reviews on her tandem with Coco Martin and Paulo Avelino.
Julia is also happy they are able to play characters well despite the age gap between her and Coco.
“Noon maraming nagsasabi sa amin ni Coco na hindi kami bagay, wala kaming chemistry. But now talagang pinu-prove namin na yung age gap, hindi namin mapapakita sa ‘Walang Hanggan.’ Mas marami na ang sumusuporta ngayon," Julia said.

Kim Chiu Plays a Blind Woman with a Brain Tumor in MMK this Saturday
According to Kim, playing Pauleen's character was a big challenge. "It was entirely different from my usual roles. I had to research and study about the people with brain tumors to make my performance believable."
Kim also shared that after learning the life story of Pauleen and her sisters, she has become more inspired to work and appreciate life's blessings.
"Because of the Chavez sisters, I realized that we have to be contented with what we have because there are a lot of people who are struggling like them," said Kim. "It's inspiring to see how they strive hard and remain optimistic despite all the hardships they are faced with."
Being her first TV appearance after the successful primetime series, My Binondo Girl, Kim is excited to know the viewers' reaction to her challenging role in MMK. She said, "I hope they will like my performance."
Together with Kim in the Chavez sisters episode are Miles Ocampo, Anya Aguilar, Ana Capri, John Arcilla, Lui Manansala, Duday, and Jaycee Parker. It is researched by Akeem del Rosario, written by Benson Logronio, and directed by Nuel Naval.
Don't miss the much-awaited return of Kim on the small screen in a heavy drama episode this Saturday night in Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK), after Wansapanataym on ABS-CBN.

Karl Roy: chef, jazz singer, sweet soul
He stares me down head to toe, strikes a gay pose, and mouths the two words he and Jett Pangan borrowed from Luke Mejares which became our standard greeting for each other:
“Vahkklang toahhh!!!”
We give each other a big hug.
I take the stage for the night’s hosting duties as his band plugs in their instruments. In equal parts jest and joy, I sing “I Will Always Love You” in his ear. He winces, laughs.
His band plays… and he is home.
What stroke?
“He’s absolutely on his way back,” I say to myself.
It was 25 years ago
In the late 80s, everybody talked about that energetic skinny kid fronting Advent Call who could whip a crowd into a frenzy. His sharp facial features made camera lenses love him back.
Even then, we knew he was - cliché alert - born to do it. His name alone sounded exotic.
Karl Roy.
I first met him 25 years ago at the old Rosie’s Diner along Makati Avenue. He asked about certain things that he assumed I indulged in. When I replied I wasn’t into those things, we both just looked away…mutually embarrassed.
From that first awkward meeting, we rarely exchanged anything but pre-gig hellos for many years until I received a call from P.O.T. guitarist Ian Umali who wanted to know if I was available to play guitar for the band.
Playing with Karl
As a huge fan, I was deeply flattered but would have to think about it for two reasons: one, there were tricky riffs that I couldn’t quite get under my fingers and two, I’m not sure if I could handle working with THE wild frontman who was notorious for… well, many reasons.
I couldn’t imagine playing beside the guy… but I did for two fantastic years.
He was not the aloof rock god I imagined him to be… well, at least he simply was not aloof. While many know of that raspy voice burnished by countless gigs, in conversation, he always spoke in gentle tones many decibels removed from his ferocity onstage. Off stage, he was the painfully sweet kind soul too often obscured by the elaborate tattoos he was almost as famous for.
Karl the chef
Around 2003, Karl paid me a visit in NU107. One of his housemates left, and he was wondering if I was looking for a place to live; during my tenure in P.O.T., he remembered that I would either shuttle back and forth from Lipa City or sleep in the station. I was renting a place at that time but I soon reconsidered.
Dena, his partner then, was a bit wary but Karl convinced her that I was no troublemaker. She had very simple, but very strict, house rules: no girls, no drugs… and oh, there were cats in the house. No problem.
It was hard to believe two rock musicians lived in the house except for Karl’s red Gibson Firebird on display in the living room. The neighborhood was quiet.
Karl also cooked. And I mean in the kitchen. Man… the guy was a master. We’re not talking fried eggs here; he whipped Mediterranean-style meals worthy of being on a five-star hotel menu. We joked that he should just retire and be a chef.
He could’ve been a jazz singer
We had many conversations, from spiritual matters, to personal issues, to wondering who was taller (him by an inch) and who was older (me by a year). It helped to discover that we were both Geminis, albeit at the opposite ends of the sign, and that we were actually related on his dad’s side and my mom’s.
When music became the topic, he would sing George Benson’s version of “Moody’s Mood” or Stevie Wonder’s “Knocks Me Off My Feet.” His voice was actually more naturally inclined to crooning; he could have been a proper jazz singer. He didn’t scream or growl around the house: he was always scatting. His phrasing was always swinging.
The light that burns twice as bright
In one of the key scenes in the movie “Blade Runner,” Rutger Hauer plays a replicant named Roy who confronts his “maker” Tyrell. The replicant wants to extend his life. His maker’s response:
“The light that burns twice as bright burns for half as long… and you have burned so very very brightly, Roy.”
The difference is that Karl Roy was no replicant. He was an original.
No. He IS an original.

Does Xian see Enrique as a threat?
Does Xian see Enrique as a threat?
“Actually, hindi ko alam ang issue na iyan. Maybe you can ask Enrique. Sa akin naman is kung saan masaya si Kim,” Xian told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! during his fans day at Mc Donald’s Quezon Avenue on Tuesday, March 20.
The newest endorser of Mc Donald’s McFloat added that he and Enrique are friends. And Enrique’s courtship of Kim doesn’t bother him.
“Our friendship is good. Matagal ko na rin siyang (Enrique) kakilala. Nagwoworkshop kasi ako so nakakasama ko na siya before,” Xian related.
Kim said in an interview on “The Buzz” that she and Enrique are friends. She added that they are textmates.
Xian and Enrique are working together in the movie “The Reunion,” but they haven’t talked about the issue.
“We’re doing a movie kasama sila Enchong (Dee) and Kean (Cipriano). So there’s nothing with me and Enrique, we’re good friends,” he said.
Does he feel uneasy with the rumor?
Xian and Kim may be busy, but the former makes time for his “My Binondo Girl” leading lady. They watched Brian McKnight’s recent concert together.
“It was fun. Meron pa akong kasamang someone wonderful, what more can I ask for? Si Kim favorite niya yung ‘Marry Your Daughter.’ Ako naman yung ‘Back at One.’ So, na-enjoy namin talaga. Nag-usap lang kami, ‘May kasama ka ba? Kung kailangan mo ng kasama, andito lang ako’,” Xian shared.
Not just hi and hello
He himself admits his relationship with Kim is “getting deeper” and is “not just a hi-hello friendship.” So what’s stopping him from taking their relationship to the next level?
“Wala namang humahadlang. Kapag naramdaman naman iyan ng puso, wala namang pumipigil,” Xian replied.
Xian clarified that he is not using Kim’s name to be more popular. He is making a name on his own, especially now that he has four endorsements which were announced last week.
“I feel good na kasama ko si Kim palagi. So hindi maiiwasan na mabanggit yung name ko with Kim and vice versa. I cannot please everyone. There will always be people who will say something negative. Ako andito lang ako to do my job and enjoy the moment,” Xian stated.
Xian is doing another movie with Kim aside from “The Reunion.”
Next target
“May pressure talaga. But ako kasi I wanna explore different roles so excited ako. Andoon yung pressure, pero excited ako. I will do my 100% best ko to make people happy,” Xian vowed.
After recording a song for “My Binondo Girl” last year, Xian’s next target is dancing. He is looking forward to his dance number with other Kapamilya actors for Star Magic’s 20th anniversary on March 30 in Hawaii and in The Teleserye Bida US Tour from March 31 to April 8.
“Gusto ko (rin) talaga maging dancer, I want to be dancing in ‘ASAP (Rocks).’ I wanna get into music, siyempre acting would always be there, and of course dancing,” Xian revealed.

Julia Montes Now Ready for Onscreen Kissing Scene?
The answer is NO!
While she is playing a mature role on the primetime series “Walang Hanggan,” young actress Julia Montes is not yet ready to do kissing scenes.
In an interview with Push.com.ph, the 17-year-old actress admitted that she still has limitations as to how far she can go onscreen.
“Bawal pa 'yung talagang kissing scene and may bantay sa bawat scene. Siyempre pangit naman kung gagawin ko agad and pangit din naman na makikita ng mga ka-age ko ngayon 'yung ganoon 'yung ginagawa ko. 'Di ba dapat maging magandang ehemplo din ako na ginagawa ko lahat ito as a character and hindi sa age ko,” she explained.
Julia also said she was initially hesitant to accept the role of Katerina in the number primetime series now in the country because she was not sure if people will accept her in a mature role.
“Medyo nabigla ako. Parang hindi ko alam kung paano ako magmo-move kasi lalo na yung mga tao na sumubaybay sa ‘Growing Up,’ sinasabi nila na nami-miss na nila si Tammy. Tapos nung lumabas yung ‘Walang Hanggan’ natatakot ako kasi baka hindi nila matanggap,” she added.
Taylor Kitsch 'John Carter' Movie Vies for Biggest Box-office Flop of All Time
John Carter, Taylor Taylor Kitsch's latest film, can be considered one of the biggest box office flops of all time.
Studio Walt Disney have admitted they expect to lose $200 million on the film - which stars Taylor Kitsch as a military captain sent to Mars - having shelled out $100 million on marketing and $250 million producing the movie.
The figures mean Disney could lose around $80-$120 million in its movie business during the current quarter, though will still make a substantial overall profit thanks to the company's TV endeavours.
The movie - based on books by Edgar Rice Burroughs - has taken no more than $184 million at box offices worldwide, but cinema owners receive about half of that total.
'John Carter' director Andrew Stanton - who also helmed smash hits 'WALL-E' and 'Finding Nemo' - has previously admitted he pays no attention to the budgets on his films.
He said recently: "I've always worked with huge budgets, I mean the truth is, this is all I have ever known.
"Having said that, I've always ignored what the budget is. I've never felt any gain to be worrying about numbers."
Disney will hope to recoup some of their losses with big budget films due for release later this year, including 'Brave' and 'The Avengers Assemble'.

Indie Actor Junjun Quintana Takes Lead Role in CBN Asia Holy Week TV Special
This coming Holy Week, the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) Asia presents three new and exciting true to life stories in “Tanikala: Ang Ikaapat na Yugto” which airs on GMA 7 from April 5-7.
This year’s Holy Week Special is a fusion of talents, starring veteran actors Bembol Roco, Amy Austria and Mike Lloren with fresh and young potentials such as indie film actors Junjun Quintana, who plays the lead role in the GAPOS episode and Sonjia Calit.
Junjun plays the life of Elmer Anibigno, a policeman who eventually became a leader of notorious syndicate Bulate Gang during the 70s. Despite being a “first timer” in the TV/showbiz industry, Junjun’s professional acting skills are already quite commendable and noticeable.
The 25-year old actor recalls his humble beginnings in the theater. “I started doing indie films before. I also have training and background in theater, so ‘eto nabigyan ako ng project na ito and hopefully through this makapenetrate po ito sa mga networks at mabigyan po ng iba pang projects. Yun po talaga ang gusto kong mangyari sa career ko po,” says Junjun.
He adds, “Masasabi ko po na malaking break ito, considering na lead role po ang ibinigay sakin. Kaya nagpapasalamat po ako sa aking manager at binigay nya po sa akin ang project na ito at pati sa CBN Asia for letting me play Elmer’s story.”
In GAPOS, Junjun portrays the complicated life of Elmer Anibigno. With the heavy drama and actions scenes that he did, it was evident that Junjun worked hard on internalizing his role. Junjun admitted that the role was a tough challenge, but nevertheless, a challenge that he wanted to finish with excellence.
“Sa totoo lang po, nabigla din po ako. Halos lahat po ng scenes ko ay challenging. Kasi first time ko po umarte ng talagang sobra. Nakapa-dramatic po ng mga eksena at nakarelate din naman po ako. Lahat po mahirap, pero sas tulong po ng Diyos, sa tulong po ng mga tao sa paligid ko, ginagabayan po nila ako para magampanan ko po ng mabuti ang storyang ito,” admits Junjun.
Catch Junjun together with Bembol Roco and Sonjia Calit in GAPOS, a Good Friday offering of CBN Asia’s Tanikala: Ang Ikaapat na Yugto, April 6, 5:00 p.m. on GMA 7.

The Queen of pop Madonna has selected the Benny Benassi-produced track "Girl Gone Wild" as the official second single from her 12th studio album "MDNA" (following lead single "Give Me All Your Luvin'") , set for release on March 26th, 2012 via Live Nation/Interescope.
It's so hypnotic
The way he pulls on me
It's like the force of gravity
Right up under my feet
It's so erotic
This feeling can't be beat
It's coursing through my whole body
Feel the heat
I got that burnin' hot desi-i-i-re
And no one can put out my fi-i-i-re
It's coming right down through the wi-i-i-re
Here it comes
When I hear them 808 drums
It's got me singing
Hey, ey, ey, ey
Like a girl gone wild
A good girl gone wild
I'm like, hey, ey, ey, ey
Like a girl gone wild
A good girl gone wild
Girls they just wanna have some fun
Get fired up like smokin' gun
On the floor til the daylight comes
Girls they just wanna have some fun
A girl gone wild
A good girl gone wild
I'm like a girl gone wild
A good girl gone wild
The room is spinning
It must be the tanqueray
I'm about to go astray
My inhibition's gone away
I feel like sinning
You got me in the zone
DJ play my favorite song
Turn me on
I got that burnin' hot desi-i-i-re
And no one can put out my fi-i-i-re
It's coming right down through the wi-i-i-re
Here it comes
When I hear them 808 drums
It's got me singing
Hey, ey, ey, ey
Like a girl gone wild
A good girl gone wild
I'm like, hey, ey, ey, ey
Like a girl gone wild
A good girl gone wild
Girls they just wanna have some fun
Get fired up like smokin' gun
On the floor til the daylight comes
Girls they just wanna have some fun
I know, I know, I know
I shouldn't act this way
I know, I know, I know
Good girls don't misbehave
Misbehave
But i'm a bad girl, anyway
Forgive me
Hey, ey, ey, ey
Like a girl gone wild
A good girl gone wild
I'm like, hey, ey, ey, ey
Like a girl gone wild
A good girl gone wild
Girls they just wanna have some fun
Get fired up like smokin' gun
On the floor til the daylight comes
Girls they just wanna have some fun
A girl gone wild
A good girl gone wild
I'm like a girl gone wild
A good girl gone wild
