Expect no less from GMA Network as it unveils a pioneering line up of groundbreaking programs primed to dominate the airwaves for the second half of 2012.
An innovative and fresh dose of primetime and afternoon prime soaps as well as reality, sitcoms, talk shows and talent searches accounts for the variety of entertainment programs that will not only take viewing satisfaction to greater heights but also create waves in the hearts of every Pinoy.
Leading the explosive program launches is the network’s first multigenerational drama, "Luna Blanca", which premiered last May 21. Apple Inc. Launches iOS6 and Updated Siri
Apple Inc. Launches iOS6 and Updated Siri
Apple CEO Tim Cook unwraps its own mobile mapping service and improved Siri voice assistant during the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) today, June 11.
Cook unveiled Apple's new new services such as in-house mapping, beefed-up Siri software, address-bar search on its Safari browser - to help keep at bay Google and its fast-growing Android mobile platform.
Apple tweaked several features in its mobile operating system to try to enhance its ability to entice users to stay within its ecosystem. The upgrades marked a bolstering of Apple’s arsenal as it tries to keep its top-down applications and hardware environment ahead of competition from Android device makers such as Samsung Electronics and Motorola Mobility.
But the highlight was the debut of Apple’s in-house mapping service after years of development, a direct challenge to the same Google service that is one of the most popular functions on both Android smartphones and the iPhone.
Apple’s new mobile software — the iOS6 — will be available in the fall. It comes with a mapping system “built from the ground up,” said software chief Scott Forstall.
It will be replacing Google Maps, until now a pre-loaded app on the iPhone and iPad, with its own in-house map service, delivering a big blow to Google, which gets about half its mobile map traffic from Apple mobile devices.
The move signals how the friendship between the two tech giants — former Google CEO Eric Schmidt once sat on Apple’s board — has become a bitter rivalry shaping the evolution of the mobile industry. Late co-founder Jobs was famously quoted as saying he was willing to go “thermonuclear” on the search leader, after it decided to position Android against the iPhone.
Now Apple will do its utmost to reduce its reliance on Google, said Colin Gillis, analyst with BGC Partners.
“What happens if one day Google decides to not provide Apple with maps,” said Gillis. “You can’t have that kind of dependency on a competitor.”
Apple’s map service comes with three-dimensional images of cities called “Flyover” along with real-time traffic updates and also turn-by-turn navigation, the last a feature that Google has in Android devices but had not made available in Apple devices.
And Siri, the innovative voice-activated iPhone search-feature users have criticized as faulty and inadequate, will now also be available on iPads and recites a larger database of answers, especially sports, restaurants and movies.
Siri is also integrated into the new mapping service so users can ask for step-by-step directions.
While Apple is late to the game with turn-by-turn directions, Forrester analyst Charles Golvin said that Apple’s new service featured various nice touches, demonstrating Apple’s ability to take an experience offered by rivals and “go even further.”
He also cited a new app for iPhone and iPads called Passbook that organizes a user’s electronic airline tickets, movie tickets and restaurant loyalty cards. The app is a “harbinger of them doing much, much more,” said Golvin, pointing to the electronic payment and mobile commerce market.
Finally, executives said Apple has integrated No. 1 social network Facebook deeper into the operating system, allowing Siri-users to post photos with voice commands.
Shares in Apple ended Monday down 1.6 percent at $571.17 after climbing in early trade, repeating a typical pattern where investors buy up the stock in anticipation of news, then cash out.

Aiza on Charice: Let her be
“Enough of comparing, enough of whatever. That’s very immature,” she told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! and other entertainment media during the press conference for “Rock of Ages” on Wednesday, June 6.
“I mean, I have nothing to say about it. With Charice, whatever she does, that’s fine, as long as she’s happy. Natatawa lang ako sa mga tao,” Aiza said, citing headlines that said Charice was “uma-Aiza”or that the international singing sensation is “the new Aiza Seguerra.”
“She’s a whole different human being so let her be. If that’s what she wants, if that is image is kung sino siya talaga, let her be,” she said.
Happy
Two years after her last theater appearance (as Gary Coleman in “Avenue Q”), Aiza is back on stage as Regina the hippie city planner-turned-activist in the local production of the stage musical “Rock of Ages.”
Aiza will star with local stars Vina Morales and Nyoy Volante, as well as international rock star MiG Ayesa, who starred in the first national tour of the acclaimed Broadway musical.
The singer-actress said she always enjoys working with theater professionals.
“Sa totoo lang, napakasarap ng ganito. One thing I love about theater is they’re all professionals. Alam mo yun, pag sinabi mong call time, kahit si MiG Ayesa pa yan, andun yan before the call time,” Aiza said.
“Yan yung sana mamana ng mga artista natin na iba.”
She is also part of an upcoming ABS-CBN soap opera which will star Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap.
As for her love life, Aiza says she’s happy, but refuses to elaborate.
“I’m happy. Yun lang. I’m happy, period. Thanks,” she said.
Produced by Atlantis Productions, “Rock of Ages” runs from June 15 to July 8 at Carlos P. Romulo Theatre, RCBC Plaza, Makati City.

Hero admits Sandara’s departure affected his career
“Nag-start siya noong si Sandara, umalis na. Nagalit ako sa kanya noon sobra, as in magshu-shoot kami ng pelikula, parang farewell movie niya iyon. Ang daming naka-line up na projects, may commercials ganyan tapos bigla in a snap, aalis ka,” Hero said in a “Showbiz Inside Report” interview on Saturday, June 9.
Hero also revealed that he and Sandara did not get along well, even if they were sweet to each other on-cam. Their constant quarrels made Sandara (who is now female K-pop group 2ne1) tell Hero to his face that she doesn’t like him.
Different culture
“Iba 'yung kultura niya, nila. Iba 'yung trip niya. Pero may mga kasundo naman siya. Kasundo ko naman, pero lagi kami nag-aaway. Hindi ko alam, pero parang palagi mainit 'yung ulo niya sakin," Hero said.
Did he have an attitude problem?
“Alam ko ang mga naririnig ko na sinasabi nila sa akin na ‘suplado ka’, actually may nagsabi na ‘yumabang ka, lumaki ulo mo.’ Hindi ko naman na-observe,” Hero relates.
He admitted not having a good relationship with the press and explained he was just defending himself that time.
“Ang alam kong nagalit sa akin yung press kasi sumasagot ako. Kapag ininterview ako, ako yung taong kapag alam kong kailangan kong depensahan ang sarili ko, lalaban ako talaga,” he said.
Family matter
Others think Henry, his brother, sent Hero’s career spiraling downwards. But Hero defended Henry, saying his brother has been guiding and protecting him ever since.
“Kung ang manager mo kamag-anak mo, kapatid mo, iba yung protection na nakukuha mo. Iyon yung siguro hindi naintindihan ng tao na pinaglalabanan ko,” he said.
Intrigues affecting his family made Hero shy away from showbiz.
“Kasi hindi ko na kaya ang tinitira sa pamilya. Ok lang kung ako, kaso sila na, wala na akong magagawa. Ayoko na sobrang apektado na sila, nagdecide ako na stop,” he explained.
Hero eventually avoided talking to people.
“Hindi ako lumalabas. Yung way ko hindi ako nagpapakita sa tao kung may mga kumakausap sa akin hindi ko muna kinakausap. Sabi ko, ayaw ko muna talaga.”
Hero transferred to GMA-7 in 2008 and now does volunteer teaching.
Does Hero want to make a showbiz comeback?
“Kung may magbubukas ng pinto, papasok ako,” he replied.

Court issues arrest warrant for Annabelle Rama
This is some time after the court dismissed other cases (among them, attempted kidnapping and child abuse) Nadia filed against Annabelle for lack of probable cause.
The 14-count charge was issued when Annabelle allegedly started addressing Nadia with defamatory statements, calling her “piggy”, suggesting that Nadia had an affair with another man and talking about her failure to pay debts on the microblogging site Twitter.
Annabelle denied the allegations in an interview with Boy Abunda on “The Buzz” late April but admitted posting about Nadia’s unpaid debts to her on Twitter.
According to the report of ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), Bersan recommended bail amounting to P140,000, or P10,000 for each count of libel.
Annabelle was the former talent manager of Nadia’s children, Alyanna and Annika Asistio.

Angelica breaks her silence on John Lloyd
The Kapamilya actress was linked to John Lloyd right after Derek Ramsay confirmed his break-up with Angelica. Yahoo! Philippines OMG! reported last May 31 that the two were seen together “looking ‘very sweet together’ and ‘appeared to be holding hands’” at a restaurant in Rockwell, Makati City.
Another report claims John Lloyd was spotted at Angelica’s condominium lobby.
However, when asked by ABS-CBN’s “The Buzz” in an interview aired Sunday, June 10 how special John Lloyd is to her, Angelica said: “Wala naman kami sa ganoong level. Nagtatrabaho lang kami. Sa ngayon, hanggang dun pa lang 'yun, magkaibigan kami. And 'yun lang yun.”
“Kung magiging special siya, e di makikita n’yo, malalaman n’yo. Kung maging matalik kaming magkaibigan, e di magiging special siya,” she added.
Angelica also said she and John Lloyd have been friends for a long time.
“Matagal na naman kaming magkakilala. Matagal na kaming magkaibigan. Mahirap bigyan ng ibig sabihin, mahirap bigyan ng kulay. Kung ako ang magbibigay ng kulay, baka mag-iba. So hayaan muna natin. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang meron bukas e.”
She further said, “Siguro kung meron akong natutunan, ang natutunan ko yung ma-appreciate ko kung ano ang meron ngayon. Hindi ako mag-eexpect ng kahit ano kasi masakit yun. So, day by day lang, dahan dahan ako.”
“Yun ang medyo imposible na talaga mangyari. Medyo hindi na ako yun. Hindi ko naman lubos maisip na gagawin ko yun,” Angelica explained.
Angelica asked people not to give meaning to her friendship with John Lloyd.
“Pagod na pagod pa yung heart ko ngayon. Wag muna, wag muna,”she said. “Wala akong ibang daanan kundi yung path na masaya. Pag dinala ko yung sarili ko sa malungkot, malulugmok lang ako. Alam ko naman na magiging okay ako e.”
Has she moved on from her break-up with Derek?
“Ayos lang. Steady lang ako,” Angelica said. “Mas maganda kasing mag-move on, e... I think mas maliwanag yung future ko.”
Derek defends Angelica
Meanwhile, in an interview with TV5’s “Paparazzi: Showbiz Exposed” on Saturday, June 9, Derek defended Angelica over the rumors.
On reports that the two were seen in Angelica’s condominium building, Derek said: “Alam n’yo guys kung totoo yan, ang daming nag-picture n’yan.”
“John Lloyd Cruz is John Lloyd Cruz. He's the most popular actor in the country. If he walks around Eastwood, there'd be a lot of people showing pictures of John Lloyd and Angel. I know that's not true,” he added.
The actress also dismissed reports linking her to the break-up of John Prats and Bianca Manalo.
“Ang nakakalungkot lang, bata pa lang ako kaibigan ko na si John, e. Pangit na bigyan ng ibig sabihin yun, ng malisya yun.”
‘Hindi na ako yun’
Asked about the reports claiming John Lloyd was seen in her condominium building, she said: “Yun nga, e. Kasi parang lahat ng mga kaibigan ko… Hindi ko naman masisisi yung mga tao kasi pwede na siyang bigyan ng meaning ngayon e. Kasi kung dati siguro ito nangyari, hindi naman siya bibigyan ng meaning kasi in a relationship ang mga tao noon.”
She added it’s impossible for the two of them to been seen holding hands, more so kissing in public.

Pacquiao Investigation: Bradley's Victory Against Pacquiao to be Probed
Pacquiao Investigation: Bradley's Victory Against Pacquiao to be Probed
Promoter Bob Arum on Sunday called for an investigation into the controversial split-decision verdict that saw Timothy Bradley deal superstar Manny Pacquiao his first defeat since 2005.
Arum said there would be no rematch between the fighters unless Nevada attorney general Catherine Cortez Masto launched a probe into the scoring of Saturday night's WBO welterweight title fight.
It was widely believed that Pacquiao won the contest, having consistently landed cleaner and more forceful punches throughout, but the judges didn't see it that way.
Two judges scored the fight 115-113 to Bradley, while the other scored it 115-113 to Pacquiao. The decision was met with boos at the MGM Grand arena.
"I want to investigate whether there was any undue influence, whether the [Nevada Athletic Commission] gave any particular instruction and how they came to this conclusion," said Arum, whose company promotes both fighters.
"If this was a subjective view that each of [the judges] honestly held, OK. I would still disagree, but then we're off the hook in terms of there being no conspiracy.
"But there needs to be an independent investigation because it strains credulity that an event everybody saw as so one-sided one way all three judges saw it as close.
"The whole sport is in an uproar. People are going crazy."

Apple Announcement: New iPhone and iPad Software
Apple Announcement: New iPhone and iPad Software
Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to show off new iPhone software, updated Mac computers and provide more details on future releases of Mac software when he kicks off the company’s annual conference for software developers on Monday.
The announcement of new software for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch has been confirmed by banners that appeared at the Moscone conference center in San Francisco on Friday, reading ‘‘iOS 6.’’ It’s not much of a surprise. Apple has used its Worldwide Developers Conference as an opportunity to announce new iPhone software for the past few years.
What’s not known is what new features will come with iOS 6, or when it will be released to consumers. Usually, the new software becomes available for download around the time a new iPhone model appears. Apple-watchers expect the next version of the iPhone, the iPhone 5, to appear this fall, about a year after the launch of the 4S model.
In 2010, Apple demonstrated the new iPhone 4 at the WWDC, but analysts don’t expect the company to show off a phone model this year.
With the launch of iOS 5 last year, Apple added many features already found in competing smartphone software. It also added the ‘‘Siri’’ virtual assistant feature, which interprets voice commands and talks back to the user.
This year, there are fewer ‘‘catch up’’ features to add, so Apple watchers expect more modest improvements. Some speculate that Facebook could become more tightly integrated, in much the same way that Apple baked Twitter functions into its software last year. That could make it easier to post Facebook status updates from within Apple’s apps.
On the Mac software side, there are fewer unknowns. Apple already demonstrated most of the features of OS X 10.8 ‘‘Mountain Lion’’ in February and said it will go on sale late this summer. Developers are already able to download a version of the software. It narrows the gap between the PC and phone software packages, making Mac personal computers work more like iPhones.
Microsoft Corp., Apple’s chief competitor in PC software, is on a parallel course. It’s set to release Windows 8 later this year, bringing the look and user interface of Windows Phone to PCs.
Cook is also expected to announce new Mac models. Intel Corp. has just updated its processor line with faster, less power-hungry chips, and most of Apple’s Mac lines haven’t had a major update in a year.
The biggest mystery surrounds Apple’s ambitions in television-making. Late company founder Steve Jobs told biographer Walter Isaacson that he wanted to remake the TV. Apple does sell an ‘‘Apple TV,’’ but it’s small box that connects to a TV to display movies from iTunes. There’s much speculation that Apple plans to make a full-blown TV set, integrated with iTunes.
Few company watchers expect Apple to reveal such a set at WWDC, but there’s broad speculation that it could make a minor step toward Jobs’ goal by releasing updated software for the Apple TV, expanding on its relatively limited functions.
