The action-packed adventure and real-life drama continues in the Season 2 of "The Amazing Race Philippines" as Team Travel Buddies Zarah Evangelista and Osang Dela Rosa from Davao got eliminated from the competition.
In the reality show’s sixth episode last Saturday, the 11 teams braved the flooded cities of Metro Manila and raced to the Manila Central Post Office, the pit stop for the first Leg of the Race.
TV5 princess Jasmine Curtis Smith, the first Leg’s pit stop greeter, welcomed the racers as they arrived to be checked-in by race master Derek Ramsay. Team Nerds Vince Yu and Ed Manguan was first to arrive, followed by team Magkapatid Jet and Yna Cruz, Dating couple Matthew Edwards and Phoebe Walker and Pinay world champs Luz McClitton and Gretchen Albaniel. Team Mag-ama AJ and Jody Saliba came in fifth, followed by team Mr. Pogi Kelvin Engles and JP Duray, team Chefs Eji Estillore and Roch Hernandez, and team Blondes Tina and Avy Wells at the sixth, seventh and eighth spots, respectively. Down to the last three teams, team Sexy Besties Jeck Maierhofer and RR Enriquez almost gave up but managed to make it to the tenth spot with team Juan D Charlie Sutcliffe and Daniel Marsh ending at the ninth spot. Team Travel Buddies were last to arrive, which automatically dropped them from the race.
Before officially leaving the race, Zarah and Osang shared how before the Race they were supposed to go to Libya until tensions rose there. They felt that God had other plans for them, and that proved to be true as they became part of TARP 2.
In a separate interview, team Travel Buddies acknowledged that despite being the first team to be eliminated from the race, they learned a lot while racing for TARP 2. Asked about the experience, the ladies from Davao described TARP 2 as “a rollercoaster ride.”
“You really can’t expect what’s to come. It’s really different from previous seasons, whether here or abroad. You really have to stay focused and prepare for the worst.” said Zarah Evangelista, the introvert among the two.
Asked about their plans after the race, Zarah and Osang shared that they would pursue their dreams of becoming a plus-sized model.
“TARP already opened vast opportunities for us. People advised us to go and try our luck by sending out VTR samples and attending go-sees looking for plus-sized models,” said Osang.
Now that they are also like the rest of the population who do not know what the outcome of the race will be, Zarah and Osang already have their bet among the remaining TARP 2 racers.
“We are now rooting for team Nerds (Vince and Ed). Kasi we feel that amongst the racers, we are like them: they are not fit, they use their brains to get ahead. Sila rin kasi yung pinaka-naging close sa amin,” they added.
Meanwhile, the action-packed adventure and real-life drama continue this week for The Amazing Race Philippines 2. Now down to ten teams, the racers will experience bumps and bruises in the upcoming super-charged episodes. From the pit stop at Manila Central Post Office, teams head south to face another series of mental and physical challenges that will test their teamwork, strategy and even their relationships with each other. One team will face penalties, while another might forever end their friendship. Besides the 10 million worth of prizes from PLDT Home Telpad, RCD Royal Homes and Kia Motors, teams will fight for the PhP 200,000.00 pit stop prize courtesy of Shell V Power Nitro Plus.
