Julie Anne San Jose to Release New Album under GMA Records

The release of her very own album was a reality waiting to happen for Kapuso pop superstar and internet musical sensation Julie Anne San Jose.

After building a credible reputation as a child singer trained by some of the country’s best mentors, Julie Anne emerged from the crowd quite distinctly by virtue of sheer talent. Her success on the internet, with a single Youtube music video of hers registering close to 14 million hits already (a cover of Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass”), makes her evidently the local artist to watch out for. Julie Anne is definitely someone who showcases what it takes to be pitted against the best of international talents.
Julie Anne’s first ever solo album will be set in motion very soon as she has signed an exclusive recording contract with GMA Records, the recording and digital media distribution arm of media giant GMA Network, Inc.
The contract-signing and press conference was held at the GMA Network Center on Monday (Feb. 20). Julie Anne is set to launch her first album under GMA Records in the middle of this year.
Although her first TV appearance was when she joined Eat Bulaga’s “Little Miss Philippines” contest when she was three years old, Julie Anne launched her professional singing career in 2005 as a member of the teenage singing group “Sugar Pop.”  The group was a mainstay in the now defunct Sunday noontime musical variety show “S.O.P.” Having found her niche, she went on as a solo artist under the management of the GMA Artist Center, the talent development and management department of the Kapuso Network.
Julie Anne is seen every Sunday in the musical variety show Party Pilipinas on GMA-7.  She will also top-bill the teen romance movie “Just One Summer” with fellow Tween star Elmo Magalona, which will be shown in nationwide theaters in the second quarter of the year.

Richard Gutierrez Dares GMA-7: "Challenge Me!"

Richard Gutierrez Dares GMA-7: "Challenge Me!"

Challenge me,” Richard Gutierrez asks and dares the GMA creative team when they were brainstorming on his next soap. The actor wants to get out of his comfort zone and tackle a role he’s never done before. This year, Chard is no longer doing an adventure-fantasy series, raring to do drama with some action.

Chard also wants to share the limelight with actors he’s never worked before, be they leading ladies, veteran stars and contemporaries.

That’s the challenge Chard hurled at the people involved in the making of his next soap, expected to air in March or April.

At 28, Chard feels he’s ready for bigger challenges in the acting field, be it small screen or big screen. In his next movie assignment, Chard wants to get “out the box.” He’s open to all kinds of roles daring, offbeat, vida-contravida.

There are clamors that Chard teams up anew with Angel Locsin, Anne Curtis and KC Concepcion, who went bold and daring in a magazine cover. Is he about to follow in the footsteps of KC, his leading lady in two previous movies?

Why not? As I said, I’m now open to all roles,” says Chard.

Who cheated who?

This is the big question going around now within the four corners of local showbiz.

Last week, people (again) feast on the recent break-up brouhaha of the on-and-off lover Hayden Kho and Dra. Vicki Belo.

But is it for real this time?

Dra. Belo accused his way-too-young lover Hayden of infidelity (read related news HERE). But another side of the story recently surfaced making people questioned the true reason why they broke-up.

Hayden, on his twitter account, said the famous cosmetic surgeon turned away on their relationship and planned wedding this year because she is in another relationship with her yoga instructor and 2007 Mossimo Bikini Summit runner-up Al Galang.

His tweet says (now deleted):

Ok that's it! I tried to just turn around and walk away just to silence my accusers. But this is too much already.

"You accuse me of infidelity and barrage the public with the accusations as if it's really true. Proof? C'mon show me.

"That proof better be a real proof of infidelity just like this one twitpic.com/8mdgmc
"October 2011. You said it's just a "friendly letter" from your Bikram Yoga teacher Al Galang twitpic.com/8mdhjh."
Hayden also released a letter which he claimed was given by Al to Dra. Belo last year.

The letter reads:

Baby,

My handwriting might be hard for your eyes to digest, but know I mean every word. I'll only be gone for two weeks, but that feels like such a long time now because you've become such an important part of my life. In ways, it's starting to revolve around you and I love that.

I'll miss you, but know that I'm right there with you, all the time. I'll call you often ok? Save up the hugs and kisses for when I get back.

Isn't this special?

Al
Dra. Belo, who just arrived from a week vacation in Los Angeles, California for a much-needed time and space to heal, tweeted the following message to assure her friends and supporters that she's very much okay.

...To all those who care I'm doing ok. I'm still sad of course but it would be weird if I wasn't since in 3 months we would have been together 7 years. Im trying [to] figure out what lesson I'm supposed to learn from this .

"People are saying I was stupid for getting involved with a much younger man. Do you tweeps think an older woman younger man thing wont work

"Just came from the blessed sacrament . I used to go at least once a week. Then. I stopped . It's so peaceful there I thanked God for my many

"Many blessings . My wonderful parents and children. My beloved carreer my wonderful staff and doctors . Yes I even thanked God for the good

"I most especially thanked God for all of you tweeps. You guys were the first to know , when I found out and had proof I tweeted immediately"

Who do you think tells the truth?

===========

UPDATE!!!

Early this morning, Hayden again posted an interesting message. This time, to retract what he previously tweeted about Dra. Belo cheating on him. He again, also denied involvement with Nancy Castiliogne.

I am saying this as plain and as simple as I can. Vicki NEVER cheated on me."

"Al and I spoke already and he had apologized to me about that letter. I have forgiven him and that’s finished."

"And about Nancy, it is also not true that we were dating or were having an affair. I hope that clears her name and my name as well."

"I hope that this ends it all. Vicki did not cheat on me. I did not cheat on Vicki. And Al and Nancy have got nothing to do w/ this."

Chris Tiu the EcowarriorChris Tiu the Ecowarrior

Chris Tiu has just added another tag to his multi-hyphenated name. He is now an Ecowarrior.

The basketball and TV celebrity decided it’s about time he spring into action to save the environment, in much the same way we goes into battle mode to drive his team all the way to victory.

“I’ve seen how expensive the result of environmental disaster is in other aspects of our society,” he says at a presscon Chris’ friend, former senator Miguel Zubiri, sponsored for their new advocacy.

A trip to Cagayan de Oro and Iligan made Chris realize all the more that he can’t just sit down and fold his arms while tens of thousands of his kababayan are dying from typhoons.

“I was exposed to the devastation caused by illegal logging,” he recalls. “People were hanging on to their lives in the mud-thick water. All of a sudden, you have these huge logs na dadaanan sa kanila.”

Chris Tiu (NPPA Images)

These stories send alarm bells ringing nonstop in Chris’ ears.

“It makes you wonder bakit hindi ito naagapan. Maghihintay pa tayo ng ganitong disasters na maraming namamatay bago tayo kumilos. The environment is important to us and the future generation. Kaya ako tumutulong.”

Calling Tiunatics

Tiunatics (that’s how Chris’ fans are called) out there, take note. Your idol has spoken. So spread the word on twitter, FB and other forms of media--especially social media.

Chris--with Zubiri and fellow Ecowarriors Rico Blanco and “Born to be Wild” host, veterinarian Doc Nielsen Donato--wants a million followers and more in this crusade to save Mother Earth.

All they need do is take videos and photos of smoke belchers and other environmental crimes and send them to their official website. You may also check out their official Twitter page.

Zubiri promises to filter the videos and photos (some could be fake, you know). Significant ones will be sent to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and allied agencies.

“We will email them back and reply to their messages,” he adds.

Zubiri and fellow Ecowarriors will formally launch the organization in a free concert on March 16 at the Quezon City Circle. Rico will not only perform. He will also write the theme song for the entire movement.

And just so the fervor doesn’t die, Chris says they plan to hold campus and community tours to spread the word to students and the masses.

He is inviting fellow showbiz celebrities to join the cause.

Actresses out there are invited to be Chris and Rico’s female counterpart in saving the environment.

“We are looking for a female celebrity endorser with a heart for the environment. Marami tayong celebrities na kababaihan na magaling na divers. We can tap them to help us in our campaign for cleanups,” says Zubiri.

Lady celeb ecowarriors, are you ready?

Jennylyn learns from past hurts

If there’s anything mother to three-year-old Alex Jazz and Kapuso artist Jennylyn Mercado learned from her past hurts, it’s that she should always put a limitation when it comes to love.

“Sobra kasi ako magmahal. Hindi naman sa ngayon di ako nagmamahal masyado. Hindi naman ganun. Parang kailangan laging may limitations,” she told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! and other members of the press during her contract signing with Polyeast Records last week.

Jennylyn Mercado (NPPA Images)

Asked what her priorities are the 24-year-old actress replied: “Number one, family. Number two, career. Number three, sarili ko.”

“Number three, opo. O, di ba, number three lang ako?” she quipped.

In fact, Jennylyn brought her son to her Polyeast contract signing to spend more time with him.

“Kung pwede kong isama si Alex Jazz, sinasama ko except kung 24 hours ang taping na magulo ang set. Ayoko siya isama sa mga ganun pero yung mga ganito, pwede kasi kahit papaano gusto ko syempre magkaroon ng time for him,” she said.

‘I know my priorities’

As for her love life, Jennylyn said: “Number four, lovelife.”

Jennylyn shared unlike before, her love life no longer affects her professional life.

“Alam ko priorities ko. Kasi dati, di ako magta-taping kasi nag-ayaw kami. Ayoko na ng ganon. Ngayon, hindi na,” she said.

Jennylyn is in a relationship with Luis Manzano. Since her love life is not her top priority right now, does she think her relationship with the Kapamilya actor-host will last?

“Let's see... Basta ngayon, alam ko na yung priorities ko,” she said.

Nonetheless, the “Showbiz Central” host said her relationship with Luis is making her become a more optimistic person.

Return to singing

Two years after the release of her last album “Love is...,” Jennylyn is planning to return to the music scene as she records her fourth solo album, this time with Polyeast Records (she has done albums with Viva and GMA Records).

Why did she choose Polyeast this time?

“Isa sila sa mga magagaling mag-alaga and mag-handle ng artists,” she explained.

But career-wise, Jennylyn said acting remains her number one priority, with singing being the second.

“Priority ko pa rin acting ko pero pumapangalawa singing ko,” she said. “Kailangan kong ayusin ang schedule ko kasi di pwede yung habang nagta-taping ka kinabukasan nagre-recording ka. Pagod ka, stressed, di pwede. Kailangan namin talagang mag-sit down to fix everything.”

Jennylyn is slated to do a movie with GMA Films and Regal Films. She will also star in a GMA-7 soap opera second quarter of this year.

Cristine on settling down: Malayo pa

Cristine Reyes feels she’s too young to even think about getting married to boyfriend Rayver Cruz.

“Hello? Kaka-23 ko pa lang,” the Kapamilya actress told members of the press when asked if she and Rayver have talked about settling down during a pictorial for Mags clothing line last week in Makati City.

The Kapamilya actress added she couldn’t say for sure when she’d consider settling down since there are still a lot of things she wants to accomplish.

“Ayokong magsabi sa ngayon kasi ang iniisip ko ngayon kailangan ko pa bayaran yung bahay ko,” Cristine explained.

Cristine Reyes (Voltaire Domingo/NPPA Images)

She further said, “Yung career ko, marami pa akong gustong gawin na movies, marami pa akong gustong gawin na TV series, marami pa akong gustong makaparehas, marami pa akong gustong ganpanan na roles. Malayo pa.”

But does she think Rayver is “the one”?

“Hindi ko masasabi. Ayokong magsalita ng tapos, Pero right now, siguro, oo,” Cristine said. “(Pero) parang marami pa kaming dapat gawin. “

No need to surpass previous film

Cristine is now working on “Nang Dahil sa Pag-ibig,” her upcoming primetime soap opera with Piolo Pascual and Jericho Rosales. And while there are still no concrete plans, she shared Viva is already working on her follow-up to “No Other Woman."

Is she pressured to do a movie after the success of “No Other Woman,” which is currently one of the highest grossing films of all time in the country?

“Hindi naman natin kailangan pantayan yung ‘No Other Woman,’ di ba?” Cristine said. “Lahat din naman kami nagulat sa naging resulta ng pelikula. Kontento na ako. Achievement na yun. At kung may mas hihigit pa, mas okay. Ayoko rin naman umasa.”

With her numerous projects last year (she also starred in the afternoon drama "Reputasyon" with Rayver and Jason Abalos), Cristine had to be paired up with a number of leading men. Does Rayver ever get jealous of her onscreen partners?

“Andun syempre yung selos factor pero hindi aabot sa punto na mag-aaway kami,” she explained.

Cristine also said working with other people is not an issue for them “dahil andun yung trust.”

As for Rayver, Cristine said she has no one to get jealous of.

“Kasi ang kaagaw ko lang naman kay Rayver, basketball, Playstation. Hindi tao, bagay,” she quipped. “Ayan, yung iPhone niya, yung iPad niya ngayon.”

Psychologist says Grace Lee’s denial could dishearten PNoy

How would a guy feel if the lady he is dating denies that she hopes to tie the knot with him?

Disheartened, says psychologist and relationship therapist Randy Dellosa.

He says, “Imagine the elation that PNoy must have felt upon learning that Grace wanted to marry him, only to find out that the news report was false. Any guy who experiences this would certainly feel disheartened.”

To keep his spirits up, Dellosa thinks PNoy should consider the circumstances in which Grace issued the denial.

“He should keep in mind that what Grace denied are statements alluded to her by the journalist. This doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to marry PNoy.”

Grace Lee (Photo courtesy of ALV)

Instead of letting the incident bring them down, Dellosa adds that PNoy and Grace--if ever they officially become a couple--should draw strength from it in the face of gossip and false reports that will continue to hound them.

What about observations that Grace, the antithesis of the silent, very private PNoy, is ill-suited for the President’s character?

Again, one should look at the situation at hand.

“PNoy is probably quiet out of proper decorum required of a president,” Dellosa explains. “It certainly would be inappropriate and distasteful for the President to disclose details of his romantic exploits when he should be attending to issues of national concern. If he carried a position of lesser stature, he would probably be as verbose as Grace in talking about their relationship.”

And since PNoy and Grace have been dating for less than a year, the veteran psychologist thinks they need to bide their time.

“This is a whirlwind romance--a relationship based on high emotions, romantic fantasies and impulsive decisions,” states Dellosa.

Thus, the two should get to know each other more and “build a solid foundation of friendship, intimacy and commitment.”

Meanwhile, hang on tight as PNoy’s love life continues to thrill his constituents –with or without a denial – and pleas of privacy from him and the lady who holds his heart.

Ritz happy for Eula

TV5’s homegrown talent Ritz Azul is happy for “Star Factor” winner Eula Caballero, who topbills the mini-series “Nandito Ako” together with American Idol’s David Archuleta.

“Unang-una, gusto ko siyang i-congrats kasi naging successful yung una niyang mini-serye with Ms. Nora Aunor, ‘yung sa “Ngalan ng Ina.” Then ngayon, ‘yung “Nandito Ako,” partner pa niya si David, best of luck kay Eula,” Ritz said in an interview at Talent Agents’ Organization’s (TAO) Party “Skin: The TAO Models’ Party” on Tuesday, February 7 at Genting Club, Resorts World Manila.

Ritz denies reports that she and Eula are feuding. In fact, Ritz hopes she can work with Eula in a TV show someday.

“Sana magkatrabaho tayo in one show. Wala naman sa akin (problema),” Ritz addressed Eula.

While Ritz thinks working with David is a big opportunity, she doesn’t regret not being part of “Nandito Ako” as she is happy in her recent TV drama “Glamorosa,” where she starred with Lorna Tolentino, Alice Dixon and Zoren Legaspi.

“Siyempre, iisipin ko na kapag makatrabaho ko si David Archuleta, napakalaking opportunity ‘nun para sa akin. Masaya naman po ako sa “Glamorosa.” Siyempre yung cast ng “Nandito Ako,” magaganda rin. Kanyan-kanyang show naman ‘yan eh,” Ritz added.

New show

She said that TV5 is cooking up a new show for her. But she has yet to get the details of the show.

“Sa ngayon, magkikita pa lang kami ni Sir Percy (Intalan, TV5 Creative and Entertainment head) then doon ko pa lang malalaman kung may upcoming show. Pero sabi nila, may niluluto na raw po silang show for me. Nagta-trust naman po ako sa kanila na hindi nila ako pababayaan,” Ritz said.

She dreams of working with Susan Roces, Nora Aunor and Sharon Cuneta someday. Ritz also plans to take martial arts lessons in preparation for action drama roles she wants to play someday.

“Gusto ko ng may pagka-action naman. Kaya nagbabalak ako na mag martial arts lessons habang bakasyon ako,” she said.

On being 'liked' by a politician

Meanwhile, Ritz said that she also likes to meet Sen. Manny Villar’s son, Rep. Mark Villar. A report said that Mark liked watching her in the TV drama “Mga Nagbabagang Bulaklak.”

“Sinasabi lang ni Tita Cristy (Femin) na gusto daw ako ma-meet ni Mark, siyempre gusto ko rin siya makilala,” Ritz revealed.

Told that Mark’s sister, Camille Villar, is in favor of her, Ritz reacted, “Wow! Siyempre flattered ako. Masaya ako at siyempre naka-feel rin ako ng hiya kase mataas ang tingin ko sa kanila. So, para sa akin na natutuwa siya sa akin, flattered talaga.”

She admitted that she also searched for Mark on the Internet and asked her relatives about him.

“Tingin ko naman mabait siya. Sana nga ma-meet ko siya at makilala pa lalo,” Ritz said.

Brad Pitt Defies the Odds in ‘Moneyball’

Brad Pitt Defies the Odds in ‘Moneyball’

Brad Pitt earns his second Oscar Best Actor nomination for playing the true-to-life character Billy Beane in Columbia Pictures’ acclaimed sports-oriented drama, “Moneyball.”

Beane is once a would-be baseball superstar who, stung by the failure to live up to expectations on the field, turned his fiercely competitive nature to managing a pro baseball team.

Pitt had an instant attraction to the Oakland A’s general manager, to his shrewd, outsized personality, to his mix of obsessive focus and gritty resourcefulness and to his intimate personal relationship with the fine line between failure and success.

The real Billy Beane himself admits that having Pitt play him felt a little strange, but he liked the actor’s down-to-business approach. “When I found out that Brad Pitt wanted to play me, at first I didn’t believe it. I work in a place where a lot of rumors fly around, and I thought when all was said and done, it was a bit of a joke,” he confesses. “But when we started to interact, I was impressed with how serious, bright and incredibly perceptive he is and how he had a vision of what he wanted to do.

He goes on: “He’d read the book from which the movie was based and really loved it. I think that’s a testament to the character that Michael Lewis wrote, as opposed to myself, but it would be hard for Brad Pitt to play anybody and not do a great job. There are certainly a lot of mannerisms that I think he picked up in our short time together. And he couldn’t have been more of an absolutely class guy, not only with the people who work with me but with my family as well.”

Beane continues, “Seeing this story come to life in the form of a movie is a once-in-a-lifetime, surreal experience. And yet despite Brad Pitt being a megastar, he could not have been more down to earth or more genuine – a regular guy from Missouri. While it’s flattering to see him play this character, at times I forget that his character is actually supposed to represent my life in baseball. I was drawn into his acting like any other moviegoer will be.”

Pitt explored Beane’s origins, which began as a naval officer’s kid who excelled at an early age on two different fields: baseball and football. Dubbed a true athletic “natural,” he was always told he would be destined for the elite echelons of pro sports. But after Beane declined a Stanford scholarship for the chance to join the New York Mets, he faltered, then struggled mightily to revive a career that never truly got out of the starting gate. After playing six seasons as a reserve outfielder for several major league teams – all the time wanting to make good on the promise he’d always been told he had – he did something bold. Beane turned in his glove and walked from the field to the front office to try his hand at management, a decision that would prove visionary.

Miller explains, “Imagine being fifteen years old and having grown men – experts – telling you that you have a destiny, you are meant to be a superstar of the next generation, and you have to make a decision based on that information – and you go down that road, only to discover ten years later that it wasn’t going to work out. The dream was just a dream, and he would have to start again.

Billy really did something crazy by today’s standards,” says Pitt. “He quit. I think in a way he felt that he was caught up in other people’s views of what he was supposed to be. I think he felt somewhat trapped. He explains it that he wanted to do something with his mind. Even though he was ‘in the show,’ the thing every boy dreams of, it wasn’t working for him.”

Pitt continues: “So he embarked on this new career, but he came in knowing there was a need to tear down that bias that he felt he himself was entrapped by at an early age.”

Miller says that the personality characteristics that make Beane a good GM also make him a compelling movie character. “Billy is charismatic and charming, but underneath that is an intense ambition to win a championship,” says Miller. “In the story we’re telling, in his drive for a championship, he comes to reevaluate what really matters in life, and it goes beyond baseball. He wants to challenge his own beliefs, to think differently. He’s dealt a similar choice to the one he faced when he was a kid, and having lived through that, he has the insight, perspective, and wisdom to decide differently.

Pitt became fascinated by how the need to succeed on his own terms became the mother of invention for Beane in his second incarnation as the A’s general manager – and how it all came to a head in 2002, when the A’s lost their most notable players and, to many, their only hope.

He realized that the A’s simply couldn’t fight the way the other guys might fight,” he explains. “They had to look for new knowledge, they had to question all the norms and find the inefficiencies in the way things were being done. They began with this seemingly naïve question: what if we were starting this game from scratch today, how would we do it? Where would we place value on the players? Then they went out and actually found these guys who were being overlooked and put together, in a patchwork, a formidable team.”

Opening soon across the Philippines, “Moneyball” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

Al Galang is Vicki Belo's Newest Lover According to Hayden Kho

Al Galang is Vicki Belo's Newest Lover According to Hayden Kho

Who do you think says the truth?
