That’s how Maricar Reyes describes her co-stars in ABS-CBN’s upcoming TV drama “Nang Dahil sa Pag-Ibig.”
“Mas kenkoy si Echo (Jericho), mas ma-joke. Very funny, ibang level. Sobra syang jolly, nakakatuwa,” she observes.
She adds that Piolo has not changed since they worked together in the 2009 TV drama “Lovers in Paris.”
“He’s still the same,” Maricar said in an interview at a pictorial for “Nang Dahil sa Pag-Ibig” in the ABS-CBN compound on Friday, February 24.
Jericho plays her love interest while Piolo portrays a wealthy family’s son.
Jericho lightens mood once the cameras are off and they take a break from shooting heavy scenes.
“The story is very bigat kasi teleserye, so it’s nice to have someone who’s very light. Pero syempre, kapag game or shoot na, very professional,” she said.
Maricar reveals that she enjoys working with her co-actors as they have different personalities.
Good mix
“All of them joke (naman) in different ways. It’s a good mix, kasi syempre ko kapag lahat naman kami pare-pareho ng personalities. So, it’s nice na kapag may quiet time, hihirit si Echo.”
What sets Jericho apart from other Kapamilya actors she has worked with, like John Lloyd Cruz and Coco Martin?
“Kanya-kanya sila eh. Si Echo, when it’s a happy scene, happy talaga sya. Pero kapag mabigat, you really see the change. It’s nice because it’s hard to snap in and out,” she replied.
Learning from co-stars
Maricar adds that she learns a lot from her co-actors, especially in analyzing her character.
“Not just with acting, but also how to develop your character. You know you have to dig deeper, iyon yung natutunan ko sa kanila.”
As Agnes Santiago in the series, Maricar loves deeply, commits errors and mends her ways in the end.
“Focused, professional. Pero kapag na-inlove, medyo baliw ng kaunti. Pero she refocused herself and tries to do what is right,” she said.
Can she relate to her character?
Maricar’s simple reply: “I admire her character.”
She feels grateful for the continuous projects she gets from the Kapamilya network. Maricar just finished the Sunday afternoon drama “Growing Up” and is working on the new drama “Nang Dahil sa Pag-ibig.”
“It’s the pressure. Kasi you always have this fear na you might not deliver. I want to be known to be doing my job well,” Maricar said.
“Nang Dahil sa Pag-Ibig” also stars Christopher de Leon, Sandy Andolong, Cristine Reyes, Techie Agabayani, Rey "PJ" Abellana, Denise Laurel and Rafael Rosel and is directed by Darnel Villaflor and Avel Sunpongco.
