After announcing that she is resigning from all her shows, effectively quitting her showbiz career, Kris Aquino on Saturday said among her options is to go back to school.
Before leaving for a two-week European vacation with her sons Joshua and James “Bimby” Yap Jr., Aquino told “The Buzz” that she still doesn’t know what to do after she finishes her commitments to ABS-CBN.
“Hindi ko alam pero gusto ko talagang mag-aral. I kept telling Attorney (Frank) Chavez nung binabasa ko lahat nung mga law, sabi ko, ‘I should have been a lawyer.’ Sabi niya, ‘You can still be.’ It will only take five years even with the schedule daw. Isa ‘yan sa mga options ko,” she said.
She graduated college from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature.
Aquino explained that her ongoing spat with ex-husband, basketball player James Yap, was behind her interest in the law.
“Sa lahat ng pinagdaanan ko recently na-realize ko kung gaano kahalaga ang tamang batas para sa Pilipinas,” she said.
However, if her youngest son will have his way, he would want his mother to continue working.
Aquino said she told her two boys that now that she is not working anymore, “maybe we’re not gonna be as rich” and that “we have to save money.”
“‘Yung maliit sinabi, you work. Akala ko matutuwa nung sinabi ko na babantayan kita, I’ll be with you,” Aquino shared.
Even her good friend Boy Abunda advised Aquino to continue working. Speaking on “The Buzz” on Sunday, the host said Aquino should not stop working because she has to continuously support her two sons.
Meanwhile, Aquino acknowledged that her interview on “TV Patrol” last Thursday, where she announced her resignation, was met with mixed reactions from the public.
“Sa mundong ito, when you’re public, you’ll either be loved or hated. Sa akin, alangan namang ikatuwa ko pero I’m still standing and I think that’s the most important thing,” she said.
