After trying his luck in the first season of “The Voice of the Philippines,” nothing has stopped singer Dave Lamar from achieving his dreams.
Dave became part of Team Sarah but got eliminated during the battle rounds.
Now, Dave has hurdled another challenge, passing the audition of Fox’s singing competition “American Idol” season 14.
His audition was not shown on TV, but Dave took to social media to share a photo of him with his “golden ticket” to Hollywood.
“So I guess they didn’t air me tonight.. But it’s all good. I was able hold this in my hand after years of seeing people storm out of the room with Golden Tickets! Ugh! It was such an exciting day,” Dave posted.
The Quezon native performed Magic’s “Rude” and earned the votes of the three judges: Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr.
“I got three yeses and they all loved my rendition of Rude. And since they didn’t air it now I think I’m gonna have to make a cover of it so ya’ll can hear how I sang it. Anyways, on to Hollywood rounds! So thankful for this experience,” he added.
He also thanked his friend, who was shown with him on the photo, for always supporting him in his venture as a singer.
“More than the experience, I’m super thankful for this man! He’s been the one pushing me to keep reaching for my dreams! Helping me in every which way possible! Words can’t even explain anymore how thankful I am for him and his family, taking me in and helping out a struggling musician. Haha we just gettin started tho (sic),” he posted on Tumblr.
Kudos from Lea
Broadway actress and “The Voice of the Philippines” coach Lea Salonga also congratulated Dave in social media.
“Ikaw na! Ipapalaganap ko ito sa buong mundo. Wow,” Lea replied to Dave’s post.
Aside from Dave, other Filipinos who reportedly made it to the auditions are Monica Mendoza, Erika David and Marvin Calderon.
