A Dumaguete-based dance group bagged the top prize in the 2015 International Youth Fellowship (IYF) World Cultural Dance Festival held in Jeonju, South Korea.
Kahayag Dance Company, the official delegation representing the Philippines in the competition, took home the grand prize of $5,000 with their dance performance called "Tag-Araw". Kahayag Dance Company is composed of 27 members including its artistic director.
"The Philippines, known as summer destination, is a haven for locals and visitors alike not only because of its wonders and scenic attraction but more for the vibrant culture of its people," the group said.

"We feel the fulfillment of being able to successfully represent our country well and got the major bonus of bagging the Grand Prize. We feel blessed to have had our chance to share the vibrant and colorful culture of the Philippines in the world stage. We are proud Filipino youth," one member of the group said in an interview with Manila Bulletin.
