So far, they have already taped two episodes. The first one is based on the story of Ruth, the Moabite widow who chooses to be loyal and devoted to her mother in law, Naomi, and who later finds a new man in her life, Boaz. Chosen to play Ruth is Andrea Torres, with Shamaine Buencamino as Naomi and Mike Tan as Boaz.
The second episode is the very famous story of the Prodigal Son. Protege winner Jeric Gonzales is playing the prodigal son who leaves his dad and brother, while Martin del Rosario plays the devoted son who chooses to stay with their father, played by Juan Rodrigo.
We visited their taping in Fairview and Jeric says that the stories are given a modernized treatment. As the prodigal son, Jeric gets all his prospective share from their dad's bakery in the province and goes to Manila to try his luck in local showbiz. When his plan didn't prosper, he then decides to return back to their home town.
Jeric is so happy to play the very demanding role of the prodigal son. "Ang tagal ko nang walang show," he says. "My last regular soap was 'Oh My Mama' pa, which is one year ago na. So habang wala akong show, I attended the acting workshop of coach Anthony Bova and also focused mainly on my singing. I intend to produce my own single and I'm now scouting for the right song. At least, maganda ang role ko rito sa 'Stories for the Soul' as Patrick, the prodigal son."
Is he really familiar with Bible stories? "Yes, kasi noong bata pa ako in Mayapa, Calamba, naging sakristan ako and every Sunday, we study catechism. Maganda itong pagpapalabas ng Bible stories sa 'Stories for the Soul' dahil yung mga kabataang hindi familiar sa Biblia, mas maiintindihan nila ang mga kuwentong itong naghahatid ng mabuting mensahe mula sa Panginoon."
