YASSI PRESSMAN is launched to solo stardom in Viva's "Ang Pambansang Third Wheel" that opens in theaters on March 7. At its presscon, we ask her: what exactly does Third Wheel mean? Is it being the other woman or kabit?
"No, kabit is being the third party," says Yassi. "Third Wheel is the extra person na may mahalagang tungkulin sa couples bilang tagakuha ng picture, tagapamagitan at tagadesisyon kunsaan sila kakain. Parang dakilang sabit. That's the character I play as Trina, an unlucky girl who always falls for the wrong guy. Three men have already broken her heart. Sumasama lang siya sa friends niya pag lumalabas with their boyfriends at naiinggit siya kasi sila, may lovelife. Siya, wala. Finally, she thinks she hits the jackpot when she meets Sam Milby as Neo, but then her world crumbles when she learned that he already has a son, Alonzo Muhlach, with Sam Pinto as the mother, so third wheel pa rin siya sa mag-ama. E, gusto sana niya, siya lang yung only one, tapos may kahati pa rin pala siya."
Based on the trailer, it looks like she has ample "kilig" chemistry with Sam Milby. At the presscon, Sam confessed he has a crush on her. Is the feeling mutual?
"As of now, sobrang focused talaga ako sa work kasi ang daming blessings na dumarating sa buhay ko ngayon," she says. "E, matagal ko ring hinintay ito. Kaya the opportunities that come my way now, ayoko pong sayangin. Ayoko ring mahati ang attention ko. Kasi mahirap din yung one half lang ang maibibigay ko sa love life, tapos the other half sa career ko. I'm a really giver kind of person at kapag nagbigay ako, gusto ko, buong-buo. So as of now, sa career na lang muna ako. Maski si Sam naman, he just came from a breakup and we're both in a place that we're not entertaining muna yung being in a relationship."
