From sweet and innocent to fierce and vengeful.
The unveiling of Jodi Sta. Maria as mall tycoon Amor Powers has been a long-awaited moment for viewers of "Pangako Sa 'Yo," which teased the transformation for an entire month without showing the actress' face.
So when the new Amor was finally revealed on July 9, it was little wonder that the episode topped trending topics on Twitter worldwide.
The closing scene showed her in a company meeting about her plan to back the rival mall chain of the Buenevistas' Buena Mart -- the latest move in her plot to ruin the lives of Eduardo (Ian Veneracion), Claudia (Angelica Panganiban) and their family.
In videos, here's a look at key scenes from "Pangako Sa 'Yo" explaining the sharp turn of Amor, who was once a trusting and devoted family woman with simple dreams, into a cold-hearted and scheming businesswoman out for blood.
Eduardo, the heir of a mining company whom Amor has long admired, promises her that he will love her for the rest of their lives. This, despite the objections of his mother, Benita (Pilar Pilapil), and her plan to have him marry a governor's daughter to secure their business.
Amor witnesses the engagement of Eduardo and Claudia. Without Eduardo knowing, Benita finalized the deal with Governor Salameda for their mutual benefit. Eduardo fights for Amor but at the cost of Buena Mines' security.
Amor is raped by Diego (Bernard Palanca), who is heartbroken to find out she and his brother, Eduardo, are together. She has long considered Diego a friend, and agreed to accompany him that night when he confessed he was in low spirits. Claudia witnesses the entire incident.
After days of being ignored by Eduardo, Amor seeks him out to explain what happened. Eduardo was led to believe by Benita and Diego that the incident was consensual. Despite Amor's clarifications, Eduardo is convinced that she cheated on him. He leaves her and soon after, Amor's father is fired from Buena Mines and they get evicted from their home.
After Amor's family is evicted from Punta Verde, Eduardo and Claudia get married to ensure that Buena Mines keeps afloat. Amor starts anew in Talimpao, but even here, she is haunted by memories of the Buenavistas as their company opens operations in the town.
Putting her dream to open a restaurant aside, Amor leaves her family, including her daughter Maria Amor, to work in Hong Kong as a domestic helper. While away, she learns of a devastating earthquake in Talimpao that kills 2,000 people, but is not allowed to return home by her employers right away.
Amor returns home to Talimpao, thinking none of her family survived the earthquake that was worsened by mining activities of Buena Sierra. Unknown to Amor, her daughter, Maria Amor, survived the incident and was taken and raised as Yna (Kathryn Bernardo) in by a policeman (Ronnie Lazaro) and his wife (Amy Austria). She vows revenge on the Buenavistas, uttering the iconic line, "Matitikman ninyo ang batas ng isang api!"
