As it pursues a shift to digital services, ABS-CBN, the country's largest media and entertainment network, on Tuesday inks a milestone partnership with telco giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) and its mobile unit, Smart Communications.
Starting October, an estimated 30 million subscribers of PLDT and Smart can start using their prepaid load or postpaid account to catch up on their favorite ABS-CBN shows, blockbuster films and other top-rated content on www.iwantv.com.ph on their computers or Smart TVs, or on the iWant TV app on their mobile phones and tablets. Both PLDT and Smart will also soon roll out exciting offers to let subscribers enjoy iWant TV content at their fingertips.
This latest deal is set to further expand the widest breadth of digital content available to PLDT Home and Smart subscribers, as well as bolster the group's thrust to deliver converged services that offer an unrivaled digital experience for Filipinos.
ABS-CBN Corp. Chairman Eugenio Lopez III, President and CEO Carlo Katigbak and PLDT-Smart Chairman Manuel Pangilinan signed an agreement that will give the telecommunications company's subscribers access to the network's iWant TV service.
"The strategic partnership between ABS-CBN and PLDT underscores our vision to make our content avialable online to more Filipinos," Katigbak said in a statement.
With the partnership, PLDT and Smart subscribers may stream the past and current ABS-CBN shows like On the Wings of Love, Dolce Amore, Ang Probinsiyano and Til I Met You, as well as News and Current Affairs shows, among many others.
