Court issues arrest warrant for Annabelle Rama

Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 92 Judge Eleuterio Bersan issued a warrant of arrest for talent manager Annabelle Rama on Monday, June 11, for failure to appear in court hearings concerning the 14 counts of libel former actress Nadia Montenegro filed against her.

This is some time after the court dismissed other cases (among them, attempted kidnapping and child abuse) Nadia filed against Annabelle for lack of probable cause.

The 14-count charge was issued when Annabelle allegedly started addressing Nadia with defamatory statements, calling her “piggy”, suggesting that Nadia had an affair with another man and talking about her failure to pay debts on the microblogging site Twitter.

Annabelle denied the allegations in an interview with Boy Abunda on “The Buzz” late April but admitted posting about Nadia’s unpaid debts to her on Twitter.

According to the report of ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), Bersan recommended bail amounting to P140,000, or P10,000 for each count of libel.

Annabelle was the former talent manager of Nadia’s children, Alyanna and Annika Asistio.
