As they celebrate their tenth year anniversary as a love team, John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo retraced the beginning of their working relationship and how they eventually became good friends in a special edition of StarStudio magazine. The magazine is divided into sections featuring a timeline of all their projects together and their individual accomplishments and takes a deeper look into their onscreen partnership.In one of the articles, Bea shares that it came to a point that director Lauren Dyogi helped fix their lack of interaction off cam when they were shooting the movie Now That I Have You. “Sabi niya sa amin, ‘Ano bang problema n’yo? Bakit hindi kayo magkaibigan?’ [Sabi namin], ’Wala’ [Tinanong niya ulit kami] ’What’s wrong with you guys? You’ve been working for two years and you’re not friends?’” After that talk, Direk Lauren asked Bea and John Lloyd to make an effort to get to know each other.
John Lloyd, on the other hand, tries to explain what stopped them from falling in love with each other when they became close friends much later. “Actually, sa amin nga, hindi kami inaawat. Parang pinu-push pa nga kami para sa isa’t isa eh. Siguro, ganun nga talaga. Kasi pag inaawat, nanggigil, kapag pinu-push kayo hindi nangyayari,” he laughs.
