According to a report on "Bandila" on Wednesday, June 27, Eric sent a text message to ABS-CBN News to share the good news about the progress in Dolphy’s condition.
"Now he tries to communicate even if we can't hear him. He said I love you to Zsa Zsa and my sisters. Of course this is lip reading. He also asked for water," Eric said in a text message.
Still battling infection
In the medical bulletin released on Wednesday, June 27, Dr. Eric Nubla of Makati Medical Center said that Dolphy “has been cleared of pneumonia, but continues to remain to have some infection in his system.
"He needs blood transfusions, which he gets. As of this time, he is undergoing dialysis,” Dr. Nubla added.
'More lucid'
He also said that Dolphy is now "lucid" and more responsive.
"He answers back by nodding his head, raises his eyebrows, lifts his hands minimally, and winces and grimaces. He squeezes family members' hands and tries to mouth words and smile."
These, said Dr. Nubla, "are all good signs." He added, however, that "because of [Dolphy’s] tracheostomy, he is unable to speak."
