“Last night, at 10 o’clock in the evening my dad went through a surgical procedure,” Eric opened the press conference. “The doctors are very happy because he responded very well to the surgery.”
Dolphy had a tracheostomy, a surgical procedure that creates a direct airway through an incision on the neck and the trachea where a tube is inserted.
Eric shared that this will make things more comfortable for his dad since the new airway the surgery created allowed doctors to orally remove the respirator attached to the Comedy King.
“Lahat ng vitals ng Daddy ko nag-improve. His creatinine level went down to 1.70, which is the range, the normal range, so that is good. So, the doctors decided to continue dialysis. He went on dialysis earlier at 7 o’clock in the morning at katatapos lang, so he had about six to seven hours.”
Still in ICU
Eric told the press that while all updates are positive so far, Dolphy is still in critical condition and will remain in intensive care, as opposed to reports that the Comedy King has been taken out the ICU.
Asked how responsive Dolphy has been since the surgery, Eric shared, “Mas madalas syang gising ngayon, nakadilat, mas responsive—which is good, it’s all positive.”
Dialysis will continue “as long as he needs it and as long as they have to administer dialysis, hanggang sa kaya,” he adds.
