National Enquirer Releases Photo of Dead Whitney Houston in Casket
The National Enquirer, the scandalous US supermarket check-out weekly, has acted true to form by publishing a picture of Whitney Houston lying in an open coffin taken inside the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, New Jersey, where the singer's family attended a private wake on the eve of her funeral.
The said photograph apparently showing the 48-year-old singer in a gold casket in a funeral home clad in a regal purple dress and wearing what looks like a diamond brooch and earrings, however, has prompted a storm of protest, with people claiming it is, variously, shocking, intrusive, disturbing, in poor taste, offensive to her family, and so on.

Boy Abunda and Sister Ping Ocarizo Relive Memories of EDSA People Power
EDSA People Power ‘hero’ Sister Ping Ocarizo will take ‘Asia’s King of Talk’ Boy Abunda back in 1986 as they commemorate the events that took place in the peaceful revolution that put the Philippines in the map, in a special episode of “The Bottomline with Boy Abunda” this Saturday (February 25).
Sr. Ping was one of the nuns, who bravely faced the soldiers with tanks, to pray and offer food and flowers to the military men.
How did People Power Revolution challenged Sr. Ping’s faith, principles and love for the country? What was the Philippines like under the dictatorship of Marcos? How did her faith help her in the middle of the revolution? After 26 years, does she believe that ‘the Filipinos are worth dying for?’
Don’t miss the celebration of the EDSA Revolution’s 26th anniversary in the Asian TV Awards’ Best Talk Show for 2011 “The Bottomline with Boy Abunda,” this Saturday night, after “Banana Split” on ABS-CBN. For more updates, log on to www.abs-cbn.com or follow @abscbndotcom on Twitter.

It's better late than never.
Jennifer Aniston was finally given her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday, February 22.
The 43-year-old actress said she was "extremely flattered, humbled, nervous and excited" to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
"It feels very surreal to be honest. I was born here and it's sort of something you went and saw as a kid and got excited about just walking and seeing the names.
"To imagine that you're going to be there is really special. It's fun," Aniston was quoted saying.
Gloria Macapagal Arroyo - Guilty of Poll Sabotage? She's Not!
Gloria Macapagal Arroyo - Guilty of Poll Sabotage? She's Not!
... at least according to her.
Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who arrived at the Pasay RTC wearing an off-white, long-sleeved dress and a neck brace, entered a not guilty plea to electoral sabotage charges when she faced a Pasay City court for her arraignment on Thursday, February 23.
Lawyer Ferdinand Topacio, who accompanied Mrs. Arroyo to the Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 112 together with her husband, former FG Jose Miguel and her sons, Camarines Sur Rep. Diosdado and Ang Galing Pinoy Rep. Juan Miguel, said the former President “very firmly” denied the charges lodged against her before the court.
Mrs. Arroyo, in a statement sent to the media after her arraignment, said she chose to face the court, presided by Judge Jesus Mupas, to show that she respects the judicial process.
“Despite the continuous and massive vilification campaign against me and my family, I have always said that I will dispute all charges in the proper forum. I am submitting myself to this process not only to clear my name but also as part of my commitment to respect and abide by the rules and orders of our courts,” said Mrs. Arroyo, who now represents Pampanga's second legislative district in the House of Representatives.
She added that she hopes that “our leaders uphold and our people have faith in the constitution and the rule of law.”
The former President is being accused of ordering the rigging of the 2007 polls in favor of candidates running under the administration party.

Luis Manzano Offers a New ‘Deal’ to Kapamilyas Beginning Saturday
You may be the lucky one beginning Saturday (February 25) as ABS-CBN’s hit game show “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” returns for another exciting season this time, with its newest host and ‘lucky charm’ Luis Manzano.
“Viewers should watch out for the ‘kulitans’ and basically how I interact with the contestants. I have a very very big shoes to fill but more than this pressure, I just look forward to enjoying the experience,” said Luis.
One of the country’s most sought after and premiere hosts, Luis takes on KDOND after three successful seasons hosted by Queen of All Media Kris Aquino. Luis is no newbie when it comes to the hosting realm and in fact, has already proven his worth in the industry as one of the hosts of “E-Live” and “Pilipinas Got Talent.”
Everyone is indeed eagerly anticipating what the Endemol franchise will offer this season and how many lives it will change in a snap.
Among the things to watch out for is the new Banker who would offer tempting deals to the studio player. New briefcase girls, now called 24K girls, will also do the iconic ‘rampa’ and hold the amounts that will change the course of the game.
A whopping P2 million jackpot prize is still at stake if the contestant chose the winning briefcase.
Since its launch in 2006, a total of 21 millionaires were named in KDOND. It is one of the most successful game show in the country, not only for its ratings, but for the honor it brought to Filipinos when it was chosen by “Deal or No Deal” USA as the only Asian franchise to be part of its world tour edition in 2008. ABS-CBN’s PR campaign for the event also earned the show a Philippine Quill Award of Merit in the same year.
Playing for a deal of a lifetime this season premiere is newest Kapamilya Carmina Villaroel. Will she be lucky enough to pick the right briefcase? Will Banker give her a hard time? Will she join Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo, Maja Salvador, Gerald Anderson and Jake Cuenca, Arnel Pineda, and Aiko Melendez in the roster of KDOND celebrity millionaires?
Don’t miss the premiere of “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” hosted by Luis Manzano, this Saturday (February 25), 6 PM after “TV Patrol Weekend” on ABS-CBN.
Sneak Peek: Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax
Sneak Peek: Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax
From the creators of Despicable Me and the imagination of Dr. Seuss comes the much anticipated feature Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, a 3D-CG adaptation of the classic tale of a forest guardian who shares the enduring power of hope. The animated adventure follows the journey of a 12-year-old as he searches for a real Truffula Tree, the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To get it he must find the story of the Lorax, the acerbic yet charming character who fights to protect his world.
Lending their vocal talents to the project are Danny Devito as the iconic title character of the Lorax and Ed Helms as the enigmatic Once-ler. Also bringing their voices to the adventure are global superstars Zac Efron as Ted, the idealistic youth who searches for the Lorax, and Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift as Audrey, the girl of Ted’s dreams. Rounding out the cast are Rob Riggle (The Hangover, Big Miracle) as the villain O’Hare, Jenny Slate as Ted’s protective mother, and beloved actress Betty White as Ted’s wise Grammy Norma.
Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is both a funny and emotional adventure highlighting the importance of balance between nature and progress. The film revolves around the Lorax, the hilarious and lovable character who goes to great lengths to protect the trees and the animals that inhabit them. After the Once-ler chops down a tree, the Lorax emerges angrily from a stump with a dire warning for the young entrepreneur.
The pastoral landscape of Truffula Valley is filled with a variety of animals - from soaring Swomee-Swans to harmonic Humming-Fish. Cutest of all are bearlike creatures known as Bar-ba-loots, who tumble among the Truffula Trees.
The Lorax’s job as guardian of the forest is put to the test when the ambitious young Once-ler chops down a Truffula Tree and threatens to chop down more to further his lofty business plan. Incensed by this uncaring act against nature, the Lorax angrily criticizes the Once-ler’s actions. From their first interaction, the Lorax and the Once-ler are at odds. Each is determined to get rid of the other, but over time they develop a mutual fondness for each other. Ultimately, the Lorax is no match for the greed and ambition that begins to consume the Once-ler, who stops at nothing to build his enterprise - even if it means chopping down every last tree and destroying the valley.
Years later, in a world devoid of trees, Ted ventures beyond the borders of his perfectly industrialized town of Thneedville on a journey to find the Once-ler and learn how he can bring home a tree for the girl of his dreams, Audrey.
Although hesitant at first, the Once-ler sees something in Ted that inspires him to tell the story of his encounter with the Lorax, which in turn inspires Ted’s mission to restore balance to Thneedville by bringing back Truffula Trees for the whole town.
“Dr. Seuss: The Lorax” is distributed and released by Universal Pictures through Solar Entertainment Corporation.
