Bacolod Masskara Wins 'Showtime' Inter-Town Edition Grand Finals

Sweeping 10 judges’ score cards with perfect 10 scores, dance group Bacolod Masskara was declared the grand champion of the fifth season of the ABS-CBN noontime variety program “It’s Showtime" on Saturday, April 28.

Bacolod Masskara, the representative of Bacolod City, Negros Occidental in the “Inter-Town” competition of “Showtime,” earned a cash prize of P3 million after beating Amazing Paper Dolls, Tiklad, Infinite Reform, Lahing Anda, Dumaguete’s Pride and Next Level Octomix,.

A third of the winnings will be given to Bacolod City, while P2 million will be awarded to the performing group.

“Madlang people” and “hurados” alike were roused to their feet as the group kicked the spectacle into high gear, with giant masked figures emerging from the audience, and a confetti-showering helicopter joining the troop of dancers in Bacolod City.

Bacolod Masskara is the sixth grand champion of “It’s Showtime,” following triumphs of XB Gensan (Season 1), Laoag City Gymnastics Group (Season 2), True Colors (Season 3), Astig Pinoy (Season 4), and CCP Bobcats (Campus Clash Edition).

KFC Poisoned Customer, Pays $8.3 Million to Victim Monika Samaanm

Fast-food chain KFC was ordered by the Supreme Court of the state of New South Wales on Friday to pay $8 million Australian dollars ($8.3 Million) the family of an Australian girl who was a victim of salmonella food poisoning.

Identified as Monika Samaanm the girl was left in a coma for six-months with severe brain damage after eating chicken twister wrap at one of KFC's franchises stores located in Sydney, Australia.

In a statement following the verdict KFC said it was “deeply disappointed” in the outcome and is already planning an appeal.

“We also have a responsibility to defend KFC’s reputation as a provider of safe, high-quality food.”

Months after its launched, rumor has it that ABS-CBN’s daily noontime show "Its Showtime" hosted by Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Karylle, Billy Crawford, Kim Atienza, Jugs and Teddy and Vhong Navarro, will get the axe very soon.

After reports surfaced about the conflict between its host and director brought about by their different conflicting ideas on how to fully enhanced the show to make it attract more viewers, rumors about its sudden ending followed next.

"Palibhasa Tanghali," a new variety game show to be topbilled by Palibhasa Lalake trio Richard Gomez, John Estrada and Joey Marquez is said to be the good replacement for the show. "Its Showtime", on the other hand, will be put on its original timeslot.

Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin is scheduled to do two movies opposite two Kapuso actors very soon.

After more than five years, Star Cinema and Regal Films inked a co-production deal to reunite Angel with her original love team Richard Gutierrez.

Aside from her reunion project with Richard, Angel will also start shooting her next movie opposite another GMA-7 talent Dingdong Dantes.

The said movie, under the direction of Ruel Bayani (No Other Woman), will also stars Angelica Panganiban.

“Magsisimula na itong May, kasama si Papa Dingdong at saka si Angelica Panganiban. Ang magdi-direct nu'n ay si Direk Ruel Bayani, na napakagaling na direktor. I’m very excited na makatrabaho si Direk Ruel.” Angel said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

Angel also revealed that she will also complete the all-star female cast for another Star Cinema movie featuring Toni Gonzaga, Bea Alonzo and Angelica Panganiban. And another comedy movie opposite her "Toda Max" co-star Vhong Navarro.

The said movies are part of Angel's new three-year contract with ABS-CBN and Star Cinema, which she signed on Friday, April 27.

"It is the truth!" Adam Levine said on reports he will join the cast of the second season of hit FX thriller series "American Horror Story".

"I mean, it's pretty much happening. I think it's happening.

"I'm just going to go and try to do acting. I think I'm going to be kind of playing myself so hopefully it will be easy. And it's going to be fun." the singer further revealed.

As previously reported by EW, the Maroon 5 frontman and "The Voice" coach will be playing a "contemporary character" and half of the couple "The Lovers."

American Horror Story Season 2 which also stars Jessica Lange, Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe is set to premiere on FX in October 2012.
