Vhong Navarro is back doing a movie, “Da Possessed” (5 Photos)

VHONG NAVARRO is back doing a movie, “Da Possessed”, which will be Star Cinema’s Easter Presentation on April 19. He plays Ramon, a would be landscape artist who falls in love with his sexy boss Anna played by Solenn Heussaff. But problems come along when three spirits from the great beyond (John Lapus, Empoy Marquez and child star Aliyah Belmoro) start to possess him.

They’re shooting the movie almost every day to make sure it will meet its playdate and being neck deep with work helps Vhong get on with his life after his harrowing traumatic experience with Cedric Lee and Deniece Cornejo.

“Gusto kong samantalahin ang pagkakataong ito para pasalamatan ang press na naniwala at sumuporta sa akin,” says Vhong at the movie’s presscon. “Sa lahat ng mga nag-text at nagpadala ng encouraging messages, salamat sa inyo.”

So how is he now? Although, magkakilala naman kami dahil nagkikita kami sa mall shows, sa airport, we don’t really know each other that much. So ang ginawa, pinagsama kami ng dressing room para mas makapag-usap kami. Nagpapasalamat din ako kasi si Solenn, masarap kausap at kasama. Walang kaarte-arte sa katawan, kaya naitawid namin ang mga eksena namin.”

John Lapus says he salutes Vhong. “Kasi mahirap yung pinagdaanan niya, tapos biglang magko-comedy ka agad. Pero ipinakita niya ang husay niya rito kasi nakakatawa talaga siya sa mga eksena niyang napo-possess siya at umaarte siyang multong bakla. Nag-twerk-twerk pa siya.”

“Very professional si Vhong,” says Joey Marquez who plays Solenn’s dad. “Hindi niya dinadala ang mga personal niyang problema sa set. On and off cam, nagpapatawa pa rin siya.”

Also in “Da Possessed” are Beverly Salviejo and Lito Pimentel as Vhong’s parents, Matet de Leon as Smokey’s wife, and Joy Viado as Solenn’s aunt.

Aljur Abrenica Says Sorry For Saying Something Against Geoff Eigenmann (2 Photos)

ALJUR ABRENICA turned 24 on March 24 and since his GF Kylie Padilla is currently in Australia, she just made a special video to greet him on his special day. “I really miss her and I appreciate yung ginawa niyang video,” says Aljur. “Nagkukuwentuhan kami lagi sa mga nangyayari sa amin sa bawat isa.”

So rumors that they’re having problems in their relationship because of Geoff Eigenmann aren’t true? “No, okay kami. Wala kaming problema. We just want the best for each other.”

So how is he and Geoff now? “We’re okay. We’ve both moved on and I’d like to think friends pa rin kami.”

How did he feel when he was bashed on the net after he was interviewed about it in Startalk and he spoke so slowly people said he’s inarticulate? “Mabagal ako magsalita that time kasi nga pinag-iisipan ko ang sasabihin ko in a way na hindi ako makakasakit ng damdamin. I was also feeling very emotional at that point. Wala naman akong nararamdamang galit for Geoff. For me, I felt I just have to say it eh. But I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Kasi medyo nabigla ako, e, nang biglang interbyuhin ako about that. Kahit po ako nabigla sa sarili ko. I’d also like to say sorry to Geoff’s manager, Perry Lansigan. Pasensiya na. But the important thing sa nangyari is, ako, may natutunan ako. Sana lahat kami, may natutunan. And now, move on na.”

So what did he learn from what happened? “Sa akin na lang yon. Basta we all learn from our mistakes. Yes, I think, sana hindi na lang ako nagsalita. Pero hindi ako nagsisisi na nagsalita ako kasi ako ‘yon eh. Lahat ng tao, dumadaan sa ganoong stage eh. Bawat isa sa atin. Sa tingin ko, tama naman ang ginawa ko but, mas mabuti nga siguro, hindi na lang ako nagsalita.”

Would he be willing to work with Geoff in the future? “Why not? Pareho kaming kapuso. At sa’kin, wala na yun. Wala akong hinanakit.”

And what’s Kylie’s reaction to him over what happened? “Sa amin na lang sana yun. Basta marami kaming natutunan to help us be more mature. Puede sa ‘Kambal Sirena’ naman tayo? Happy kaming lahat na involved sa show as we’re rating very well and we get very positive reviews. And to think na nagi-start pa lang kami. Nagde-develop pa lang yung story, so lalo na kapag tumakbo na yung love story namin ng dalawang characters played by Louise. Nakakatuwa ang director namin, si Dondon Santos, dahil he succeeds in making the story truly more absorbing for the viewers with each episode.”

ABS-CBN 2014 Summer Station ID Video Released

ABS-CBN 2014 Summer Station ID Video Released

Filipinos can always make it through calamities with a smile. This is what ABS-CBN will showcase in its much-awaited summer station ID premiering this Sunday (Mar 30) on “ASAP 19.”
Dubbed as “PINASmile: Masayang Muli ang Kwento ng Summer Natin,” the 2014 summer SID aims to promote the Philippines as a unique travel destination that takes pride in the beauty of each region, the country’s colorful culture, and of course, the stories behind the unique and infectious smiles of Pinoys.
“Filipinos will always choose to smile amidst hardships; we find happiness even in the small things. We know how to be grateful and remain positive. We believe in the goodness of others. Indeed, despite the calamities that severely damaged our country, the Filipino optimism shines through,” said head of ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management Robert Labayen.

“PINASmile,” interpreted by today’s hottest loveteam Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, brings out the raw and authentic happiness from the simple Pinoys. Kapamilya stars and news personalities were tasked to be the smile seekers and went to different parts of the country to immortalize these blissful moments with their own cameras.
Queen of All Media Kris Aquino, for example, took photos and even selfies with Ivatan women in Batanes, while Andi Eigenmann and Bea Alonzo roamed around Luneta taking pictures of families and friends bonding around the famous park. Angelica Panganiban, John Prats, and Zanjoe Marudo, on other hand, captured the smiles of residents in Mt. Pinatubo.
Also included in the itinerary are provinces that were severely devastated by disasters last year, particularly Bohol, Samar, and Leyte.
“The positive stories and warm smiles from these hard-hit provinces are testaments of how brave and happy Filipinos could be despite the tragedies that our fellow countrymen went through,” explained Labayen. “Let’s make our summer story worth smiling about again, and show the world that the Philippines is one happy place worth visiting and coming back to.”

The “PINASmile: Masayang Muli ang Kwento ng Summer Natin” theme song was written by Robert Labayen, Lloyd Oliver Corpuz, Christer Salire, Revbrain Martin, Jill Cabradilla-Aspiras, Mark Raywin Tome, and Christine Daria Estabillo. Its music was composed, arranged and produced by Bojam and Thyro of FlipMusic, mixed and mastered by RB “Kidwolf” Barbaso and Bojam, and acoustic guitars by Nica Del Rosario. It was directed by Paolo Emmanuel Ramos and Peewee Gonzales.
The 2014 ABS-CBN Summer Station ID was created by ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management headed by Robert Labayen, Johnny Delos Santos, Patrick de Leon and Ira Zabat. The SID Creative and Production team members include Danie Sedilla-Cruz, Edsel Misenas, Kathrina Sanchez, Dang Baldonado, Tina Barbin, Sheryl Ramos, Christine Joy Laxamana, Christian Faustino, Lloyd Oliver Corpuz, Carlota Rosales, Carla Payongayong, Jonathan Perez, Adrian Lim, Chiz Perez, Raywin Tome, Christine Daria Estabillo, Ermil Sanchez, Mark Bravo, Love De Leon, video editors Lorenz Morales and Con Ignacio, logo designer Roger Villon, logo animation Meryl Miranda, print and graphics design head Carmelo Saliendra, motion graphics and brand identity head Oliver Paler, post production specialists Alfie Landayan and Rap Dela Rea, ABS-CBN TV Entertainment, ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs, ABS-CBN Regional Network Group, Star Magic, and the Choose Philippines team.

Other members are technical and production unit head Jaime Porca, technical promo specialist Antonio Medrano Jr., production designer Joon Ku, recording audio engineer Rick James Payumo, director of photography Rommel Sales, videographers Tim Aguirre, Joseph Delos Reyes, Mico Manalaysay, Sheryl Ramos, Christine Joy Laxamana, Edsel Misenas, and Carla Payongayong, photographer Aileen Gooco, talent casters Mary Ann Rejano and Remy Sotto, location manager Marvin Bragas; and production coordinators Jesusa Canilang and Austin De Guzman.

Rio 2 "What is Love" Lyric Video

Rio 2 "What is Love" Lyric Video

“What is Love” lyric video performed by Janelle Monáe from Blue Sky Studios’ “Rio 2” family movie is now up on YouTube. Watch below:

In April 2011, Twentieth Century Fox released Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studio’s CG animated feature “Rio.”  The film was born from the imagination of Carlos Saldanha, who co-directed or directed the global blockbusters “Ice Age,” “Ice Age: The Meltdown” and “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.”
To fully realize the scope and breadth of this magical world and its vivid characters, Saldanha brought together an all-star voice cast, led by Oscar® nominees Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg, Oscar and Grammy®-winner Jamie Foxx, acclaimed musical artist will.i.am, actor-musician Jemaine Clement, comedic actress Leslie Mann, actor Rodrigo Santoro (a Brazilian native), actor-comedian George Lopez, and funnyman Tracy Morgan.
The filmmakers enveloped the action – and audiences – with a combination of Brazilian sounds and contemporary pop music.  The soundtrack featured a stellar musical cast performing under the guidance of composer John Powell and Brazilian music legend and “Rio’s” executive music producer, Sergio Mendes. “Rio” became a worldwide smash with a global box office tally of $486 million.  It also was a huge hit on DVD and Blu-ray disc.
Now, Saldanha returns to Brazil and reunites his beloved characters in RIO 2.  In the new film, it’s a jungle out there for Blu, Jewel and their three kids, after they’re hurtled from Rio to the wilds of the Amazon. As Blu tries to fit in, he goes beak-to-beak with the vengeful and villainous Nigel, and meets the most fearsome adversary of all…his father-in-law.
Our favorite “Rio” characters are joined by Oscar nominee Andy Garcia, Grammy winner Bruno Mars, Tony® winner Kristin Chenoweth and Oscar/Emmy®/Tony winner Rita Moreno.  RIO 2 also features new Brazilian artists and original music by Janelle Monáe and Wondaland.
In RIO 2 we find Blu, Jewel and their family living the perfect domesticated life in the city.  The offspring are: Bia(voiced by “The Hunger Games’” Amandla Stenberg), who lives with her beak in a book and likes spouting facts and figures, just like her dad; Tiago (Pierce Gagnon, “Looper”) the youngest, who is always up for adventure, especially if it involves destroying something; and Carla (singer/actress/comedian Rachel Crow), the eldest, a spunky teen who longs to get a little space from her protective family so she can express her musical side.
So, in RIO 2, it’s on…in the Amazon, not only visually, but musically.  “We wanted to look at different musical ‘flavors,’ sounds and exciting new beats that make the soundtrack for RIO 2 even bigger than the first film’s,” says the director.
After Saldanha wrote the story, screenwriter Don Rhymer, who had worked on “Rio,” began fleshing out Saldanha’s ideas.  It was a fruitful collaboration, which sadly ended when Rhymer passed away in late 2012.  “Don was our guy,” says Saldanha. “He embraced the vision of the first film and had really exciting ideas for RIO 2.  His death left a big gap for us.  We were lucky to have the amazing writers Carlos Kotkin, Jenny Bicks and Yoni Brenner help finish the screenplay, but Don was a very special person who played a big role in the project’s development.”

“Rio 2” in 2D and 3D opens April 9 in theaters nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Louise De Los Reyes Says Bf Enzo Pineda Is Not Jealous Of Aljur Abrenica

LOUISE DE LOS REYES is having the time of her life playing the dual roles of Perlas and Alona in the hit telefantasya “Kambal Sirena”. “Mahirap kasi nga I play two different roles and very physically challenging pa ang maging sirena, lalo na ang swimming scenes,” she says. “But I’m not complaining since I’m really enjoying everything at sanay na rin ako ngayon to play both roles na one is feisty, palaban, yung sirenang si Alona, at yung isa naman, si Perlas, mahina ang loob kasi natatakot siya dahil may gills siya o hasang sa leeg kaya inaalipusta ng ibang tao. Ang nakakatuwa, very positive ang feedback from the viewers. Maraming may gusto sa show kaya nakakawala ng pagod lalo na’t nag-aapura kami ngayon sa taping. Kung minsan, kung ano yung na-tape namin today, siyang ipapalabas on the same night kaya nakaka-stress.”

What’s her boyfriend Enzo Pineda’s reaction to the show? Isn’t he getting jealous now that she’s paired with Aljur Abrenica? “No, walang selosan kasi friend naman sila ni Aljur. He’s very supportive nga. Nanonood siya at natutuwa siya for me. Abangan nyo dahil marami pang mas magagandang mangyayari sa show in the coming weeks. Mas lalalim ang kuwento.”

Tippy Dos Santos Performs Dyesebel’s "Tangi Kong Kailangan"

Young singer-actress Tippy Dos Santos has been chosen to interpret Tangi Kong Kailangan, the theme song of ABS-CBN’s newest primetime show Dyesebel. The song was composed by Francis and Carla Concio specifically for the show.
Topbilled by Anne Curtis, Dyesebel premiered last Monday, March 17, with impressive ratings.
“I am so thankful that ABS-CBN tapped me to sing the show’s theme song,” says Tippy. “It’s such a beautiful song – perfect for a fantastic series like Dyesebel.”
As a singer, Tippy interpreted Dati, the grand prize winner of the 2013 Philippine Popular Music Festival, alongside Sam Concepcion and Quest. She will also release her debut album of original songs within the year.
Last year, Tippy starred in the movie musical Idobidoo Bidoo as Tracy Fuentebella, the young lead of the movie. She was paired with Sam Concepcion.
On stage, she played Wendy to Sam’s Peter Pan in STAGES’ production of the well-loved fairy tale.
Currently, Tippy is part of Galema, and the upcoming movie Once A Princess, topbilled by Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales.

Anne Curtis To Sing Opera In New Araneta Coliseum Concert (9 Photos)

ANNE CURTIS is all set to conquer the Big Dome anew. In 2012, her “Annebisyosa” concert filled it up, which surprised even her since she’s the first to admit she’s not really a singer. She’s all set to duplicate this feat on May 16 with “The Forbidden Concert: Anne Kapal”.

“Mas marami kong pasabog na production numbers this time,” she says. “I love singing but singing didn’t love me back so I know naman my fans won’t go there for my voice, but they expect a really spectacular show and that’s what I’ll give them. I won’t say who my guests are pero abangan nyo, lalo na yung isa na kaye-yes lang at super kabog talaga dahil pumayag mag-duet kami. My voice naman has improved so I will make birit with Aegis songs and with ‘Let It Go’. I’ll sing songs from the theatre, like ‘Phantom of the Opera’, and also classical songs like opera. I think may future ako sa opera dahil mas bagay raw ang voice ko doon.”

And she started singing an operatic aria. “I’ll just need to study voice para ma-sustain ko yung high notes. O, di ba? Para maaliw ang audience. May baliw-baliwan factor. And this early, may feelers na for the concert to be shown also in various parts of the countries and the world, just like the first one.”

The title, “Forbidden”, is also the title of her new album that will be released soon, with “Made in the Philippines” as the carrier single that you can now hear on radio. The Forbidden concert is directed by Georcelle Dapat Sy with Marvin Querido as musical director, presented by Smart, Cherry Mobile, Belo and Doublemint Gum. Tickets range from P500 to P5,500. Get them from Ticketnet 911-5555 or Viva Concerts at 687-7236.

Anne is also very happy over the positive feedback that her version of “Dyesebel” is getting from viewers. “At least, all our hard work paid off, kahit hindi pa ako lumalabas at batang Dyesebel pa lang ang pinapakita,” she says. “Pinanood ko talaga lahat ng past Dyesebels to make sure mabibigyan ko ng ibang treatment ang performance ko as the iconic mermaid. I even tried to get hold of the original komiks novel of Mars Ravelo on which it was based, kaya lang wala na raw kopya.”

Meantime, the movie she’s making, “The Gifted”, with Cristine Reyes and Sam Milby, is currently on hold because its director, Chris Martines, is on vacation in Spain.

Aljur Abrenica: "More than the big stars, Kambal Sirena is about quality program."

Aljur Abrenica: "More than the big stars, Kambal Sirena is about quality program."

Birthday boy Aljur Abrenica takes a short break from “Kambal Sirena” taping and from recording his upcoming album to spend time with the kids of World Vision in Quezon City. It was easy for the Kapuso hunk to chose World Vision as the outreach venue for his birthday since he has pledged educational support for two children from Palawan through the non-government organization.
Aljur will be turning 24 on March 24 but he celebrated his birthday early on March 20 to not intervene with his taping schedule for his newest primetime show. Aside from spending time with his family over the weekend, the Starstruck Season 4 winner is marking his birthday with the World Vision kids. “Kailangan mag give back sa daming blessings. I am starting with World Vision.” The former Machete star was emotional when he shared how happy he is receiving letters from his beneficiaries.
Quality first on ‘Kambal Sirena’
But if there’s one wish that Aljur can ask for his birthday, it is the warm acceptance of the public for his sirena-serye “Kambal Sirena”. His new show is facing stiff competition with ABS-CBN’s “Dyesebel”. “We’re aware of the competition. Pressure? Di namin masyado iniisip yung kompetensya eh. We’re focusing more on sa kung ano ang kaya naming gawin. Kung ano man yung nagawa namin before, paano mas mahihigitan pa,” he said.
Aljur also expressed that he and his co-stars are taking more time on giving the viewers a quality show than be destructed with ratings. “Di ko nababalitaan talaga ano yung mga nangyayari sa kabila. Kung nasa trabaho kami, we’re giving our 100 percent. Mas binibigyan namin ng pansin ang quality, ang story, ang acting, ang sa camera. Di ko actually inaalam ang ratings.”
Kantar Media provided the first viewership data for this week which shows “Dyesebel” claiming the number 1 spot on Monday, March 17. “Dyesebel” debuted with 32.8% while “Kambal Sirena” started its second week with 17.9%. Other ratings provider still has to supply their data though. Continue reading HERE.

Mark Herras Says Jennylyn Mercado Should Win An Award As 'Rhodora X' (3 Photos)

MARK HERRAS is happy for Jennylyn Mercado as she is now getting uniformly positive reviews for her portrayal of multiple characters in “Rhodora X”.

Meantime, everyone thinks Yasmien Kurdi as Angela is dead and there was even a memorial mass said for the repose of her soul. Little do they know that she’s under the care of Mark Anthony Fernandez as Nico and she’s slowly regaining her consciousness. After reading the files left behind by Dr. Vivian (Irma Adlawan), Dr. Ferds (Ervic Vijandre) confirms that Rhodora is really suffering from DID or having a split personality. Rhodora finally admits that she was the one who murdered Krista Miller as Trisha. She says she wants to clear the name of Angela. The cops arrest her and while in jail, the other prisoners beat her up so she was placed on hospital arrest. She was eventually set free on the plea of insanity. She’d have to be confined in a mental hospital instead.
