Ken Chan Stars in a Kapuso Game-Changing Afternoon Series "Destiny Rose"

Beginning September 14, GMA Entertainment TV offers a game-changing character-driven afternoon prime series focusing on a heart-warming tale of love and family entitled "Destiny Rose".

Destiny Rose, the first title role TV series of multi-talented actor Ken Chan, will beautifully demonstrate that in one’s ability to love also lies great power to become the person one dreams to be.

In the series, a transsexual woman named Joey Flores Vergara (played by Ken Chan) only dreamt and hoped to be the best for his parents. Despite the fact that everyone around him was against his personal desires and wishes, he remained to be the loving and obedient child.

A passionate student and a loving son to his family, Joey will go through different setbacks in life but will continue to be patient and understanding.

All these positive qualities will outweigh life’s challenges and Joey will become a stronger person in her new life as Destiny Rose.

As time passed, Joey faced more challenges in his journey to becoming a renowned writer and a full-fledged woman. Joey is now known as Destiny Rose.

Now that Destiny Rose has fulfilled her dreams, all she wants is to be with the love of her life and for her family to be complete once again. But what if her family, especially her estranged father, refuses to accept her? And what if the love of her life finds out that she only had sex reassignment surgery to become a woman? Will Destiny Rose still find happiness?

With all the challenges and triumphs of Destiny Rose, viewers would definitely love her.

Playing opposite Ken is Fabio Ide as Gabriele Antonioni, Joey’s Fil-Italian penpal. He will make Joey/Destiny Rose’s life more colorful as he becomes her one true love.

Completing the cast are esteemed TV and movie actors and actress: Manilyn Reynes as Daisy Flores Vergara, Joey’s loving mother; Michael de Mesa as Rosauro Armani Vitto, a rich philanthropist who will be instrumental in Joey’s transition in becoming a woman; Jackielou Blanco as Dahlia, Jasmine’s mother who will make Joey and Daisy’s life difficult; ; Katrina Halili as Jasmine Flores, Joey’s ambitious cousin; Sheena Halili as April Rose Vergara, Joey’s kind-hearted sister; Jeric Gonzales as Vince, Joey’s first love; Joko Diaz as Joselito Vergara Sr., Joey’s strict father; Irma Adlawan as Bethilda, Armani’s sister who will make Joey’s life a living hell; JC Tiuseco as Lance, Jasmine’s boyfriend and accomplice in deceiving Gabriele; Ken Alfonso as Aris, Bethilda’s son who will eventually fall in love with Destiny Rose.

Ricki And The Flash Review: Strictly For Ardent Meryl Streep Fans Who Can't Get Enough Of Her

IF YOU'RE a bonafide Meryl Streep fan who can't get enough of her (just like us), you'll thoroughly enjoy "Ricki and the Flash" where she plays an aging rock singer. It's directed by Jonathan Demme, but it's so different from his dark Oscar-winning piece, "The Silence of the Lambs". Meryl is reunited here with Kevin Kline, her leading man in "Sophie's Choice", for which she won her first best actress Oscar.

Meryl is Linda, also known as Ricki, and she is lead vocalist to a band called the Flash. She recorded an album but she never really made it big. Now, she's often broke and augments her income by working as a cashier at the check out counter of an L.A. supermarket.

She gets a call from ex-husband Pete (Kline) who's in Indianapolis. Their daughter Julie (Mamie Gummer, Meryl's real life daughter who has a recurring role as a neophyte lawyer in "The Good Wife") is a depressed wreck after her husband dumped her for another woman. She flies to Indianapolis to help out, meeting their two sons anew, Josh (Sebastian Stan), who's about to get married, and Adam (Nick Westrate), who's gay.

All her children have big big grudges against her. When she decided to pursue her career in singing, Pete remarried to Maureen (Audra McDonald), who's African American, and their kids are very close to her. As maybe expected in interpersonal relationships movies of this sort, the initial meeting between the characters initially do not go well, what with long withheld recriminations managing to surface again, once in a loud public argument while they're about to have dinner in a fancy restaurant. Josh is soon getting married but he has no intentions of inviting his mom to their wedding. The confrontation between ex and current wives of Pete particularly didn't go well.
