Charice: Lip-syncing is not cheating

Charice didn't hesitate to give her two cents when asked to comment about Madonna's alleged lip-syncing during the Super Bowl XLVI halftime performance.

Through Twitter, she expressed that she doesn’t see anything wrong with lip-syncing, especially when a singer performs in front of a big crowd.

“I sing. But I'm not perfect. I would totally lip sync if I would do some big events with millions of people watching,” was Charice’s reply to one of her fan's tweet on Monday, February 6.

Charice continued sharing her thoughts, saying that the media will always have something to say about anyone’s performance and advised her fans to “Just do your thing and be noticed no matter what. Good or Bad.”

By Karen Valeza | Yahoo! Southeast Asia Newsroom

The young singer added that lip-syncing doesn’t necessarily translate to cheating, as it can also help in easing the nervousness of a singer.

“It's not a crime or cheating. Sometimes it just makes you feel better. I would be realllllly nervous,” she said.

Charice also admitted that she still feels the nerves every time she performs.

“Seriously? I am not the most perfect person out there. I'm still nervous even if I just sit down and do interviews,” she said.

Charice who's not new to being the subject of negative comments already predicted how some netizens would react after reading her fearless Twitter statements.

“I bet some people would write something like, "Oh geez, Charice is lip syncing now!" boo! Lol. What do you expect anyway,” she conveyed.

Charice will stage a concert in Dubai on March 2 as part of her “Infinity” concert tour and Manila on March 9 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Giselle Tongi returns to television

After a three-year absence from show business, Giselle Tongi returns to local television via the TV5 mini-series “Nandito Ako.”

The 33-year-old actress, an original cast member of the ‘90s teen-oriented show “Gimik,” is now based in Los Angeles, California with her husband Tim Walters and her children, Sakura and Kenobi.

Giselle plays Cara, estranged mother of series protagonist played by David Archuleta. She will also co-star with showbiz friends Gelli de Belen and Aiko Melendez.

“Matagal ko ng kilala itong mga ito. It’s an honor to be working with Aiko, with Gelli. I grew up working with them. So, siyempre, enjoy naman,” she said during the press launch of “Nandito Ako” last week.

Reconnecting

According to Giselle, she got the offer to star in the show through TV5 production unit manager Joann Bañaga. The two worked together during Giselle’s earlier years in showbiz.

“Finacebook ako, actually, ni Tita Joann Bañaga. Sabi niya,‘balita ko, uuwi ka raw, bakasyon ka raw. Pwede ka ba dito?’ Sabi ko, ipadala nyo yung script. Binasa ko, tapos binigyan na ako ng date. Tapos, ito na ako,” Giselle explained.

She added that she accepted the project because she just finished her Communications degree (minor in film and theater) at the University of California, Los Angeles. This, she said, has been her priority for the last three years.

“Matagal po akong hindi nakapunta rin dahil tatlong taon akong nasa kolehiyo. Ngayon tapos na ako, pwede na akong bumisita,” she said.

Giselle added, “I've done plays, but nasa school talaga ako at ‘yun ang inasikaso ko. I finished my first film for my thesis. I wrote, directed and produced ‘Pinoy Grease’.”

The singer-actress starred in the musical “The Days When Cocaine Was King” in 2004 in Los Angeles. Recently, she appeared in an episode of “America’s Next Top Model” cycle 16 as a planted fan.

Back to the U.S.

The actress won’t stay here for good as she’s scheduled to leave the country later this week.

“I am scheduled to go back to Los Angeles. My son (Kenobi) is with me, kasama ko rito, kasi hindi pa siya nagscho-school. Pero yung babae (Sakura) ko first grade na, and ‘yung asawa ko, nasa L.A. pa po sila. One month lang ako dito,” she explained.

However, Giselle said she welcomes the opportunity to do more work in the country. She is currently a columnist for “The Philippine Star.”

“Nandito Ako” will premiere Feb. 20 on TV5.

Christian admits dating Singaporean actress

Christian Bautista has remained secretive about his love life, saying that he wants to keep it private and would only talk once the press catches him with a date.

What’s his Valentine’s day plan?

“February 29, (I have) a concert with Karylle,” Christian said in jest, trying to evade the question.

“Hopefully I could get a break. definitely I will have a vacation by March. It’s a post-Valentine’s date,” he explained.

Christian then turned serious and admitted that he is currently dating.

“I’m seeing someone. So we’re gonna have a vacation,” he confirmed.

Christian was recently photographed with fellow “The Kitchen Musical” star, Singaporean actress-model Carla Dunareanu. They were on a group date with Karylle and Yael Yuzon and Art Acuna and Maritina Romulo.

Christian admits dating Singaporean actress

Is Carla the current apple of his eyes?

“Yeah, she’s the one. We’re dating, yes. Pero yun muna for now,” Christian replied.

Next career move

The singer-actor reveals he is open to studying his options once his contract with ABS-CBN ends in August.

“After everything that has happened to me, everything is an option. I love ABS-CBN, it’s my first station. I would like to stay, pero kung wala namang ibang offers, I would have to study other options,” Christian told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! and some members of the press at the Talent Agents’ Organization’s (TAO) Party “Skin: The TAO Models’ Party” on Tuesday, February 7 at Genting Club, Resorts World Manila.

Christian admitted he is not aware of rumors that TV5 is offering him a musical talent show where he will act as host.

And since he still has to learn about other offers from other networks, Christian explains that he cannot give a concrete decision yet. Besides, he still has a contract with the Kapamilya network.

More acting projects

After landing a role in “The Kitchen Musical,” Christian learned to enjoy acting and now wants to pursue it some more.

“I wanna try a little acting now. Kasi sa music, kilala naman na ako as a singer. So for me, as purely a singer for ten years, I wanna do something different para hindi masawa ang mga tao,” he said.

“Like before, I was with Warner Music, they really took care of me. Then there was a time I had to move to Universal Records and it brought me to places I’ve never been. Unfortunately, the answer is we will see,” he added.

Indonesia incident

Christian recently figured in a rumored deportation issue in Indonesia, which he and his management company, Stages ,denied.

Christian is happy and grateful his fans believed and supported him.

“I love my Indonesian and Filipino fans. Talagang they support me. Of course, nalungkot talaga ako noong deportation issue na yun,” he remarked.

He added that they are now fixing the issue. Christian will be going back to Indonesia for another show.

“They have to talk to the Embassy para malaman namin ang next steps. The Indonesian immigration knows na it’s not my fault eh,” Christian added.

“We’re not interested in her,” ayon sa isang highly placed source from Channel 2, referring to Carla.

This Saturday, February 11, Katrina Halili, Paolo Contis and Antonio Aquitaña will star in GMA-7′s “Spooky Valentine presents Masahista,” airing after Manny Many Prizes.

When people talk about “stress relievers” these days, medications only rank second to a hard and soothing massage, which is readily available in the hundreds of spas and massage parlors marking the Metro Manila landscape. People come to these places to unwind and de-stress. But what if you’d find out that the masseuse, who’s giving you a gentle rub, is a vengeful ghost with a gloomy past?

After being discharged from the hospital, he resumes work at the massage parlor hoping that this would aid in his recovery. But just as he thinks everything in his life is falling back into place, something strange happens: a ghost of a beautiful woman frequently appears to him, seemingly wanting to reveal to him something. Ripped off his memories, Patrick couldn’t comprehend that the ghost was that of Noemi (Katrina Halili), a former masseuse who worked at his parlor.
