With the recent renaissance of GMA in the wake of the success of Encantadia & Alyas Robin Hood, the network wars will surely become really interesting come 2017. The top loveteams of ABS-CBN are preparing theirs as we speak. KathNiel of Kathryn Bernardo & Daniel Padilla has La Luna Sangre while LizQuen of Liza Soberano & Enrique Gil already has one in the backburner.

Newbie Actor Christian Bables Gets His Biggest Break As Paolo Ballesteros' Gay Confidante In 'Die Beautiful'

CHRISTIAN BABLES is one lucky newcomer who is given his biggest break as the best friend of Paolo Ballesteros in "Die Beautiful". Director Jun Lana says he first noticed Christian as the gay 'kabarkada' of Kiray Celis in "I Love You to Death".

"Nakita ko, mahusay siya, at dahil doon, kinuha ko siya as Barbie, ang gay confidante ni Paolo in 'Die Beautiful'," says Direk Jun. "Sa galing niya rito, tiyak na mapapansin siya at, sa tingin ko, puede siyang ma-nominate as best supporting actor."

Two gay roles in a row? So is he really gay in real life? "Hindi po," Christian tells us at the presscon of "Die Beautiful". "Straight po ako."



He says he's long been trying to get into acting. "I took up several acting workshops sa ABS-CBN under Direk Rahyan Carlos, including yung master class ni Ivanna Chubbuck na acting coach from Hollywood. Na-touched nga ako kasi dun sa book niyang ibinigay sa akin, may sinulat siyang dedication na she's so impressed with me and she has seen me grow as an actor. After that, nakuha ako sa teleserye, 'Nasaan Ka ng Kailangan Kita', at sa indie movies na 'Anino' and 'Bang Bang Alley', pero puro small roles lang. Akala ko nga, walang mangyayari sa career ko, until dumating itong 'Die Beautiful', kaya nagpapasalamat ako kay Direk Jun Lana for this big break."

Isn't he afraid he might be typecast in gay roles? "No. Yung mga dati nang nakakakilala sa akin, alam naman nilang straight ako."
