Kantar Media National TV Ratings (November 4-6, 2016) - Pinoy Boyband Superstar wins

ABS-CBN's boyband search, Pinoy Boyband Superstar, ruled primetime programming over the weekend, November 5-6, 2016, based on Kantar Media's data.

Last Saturday's first live show episode featuring the performances of the Top 12 boyband member wannabe got 28.5% national TV rating. Last Sunday's results show, meanwhile, scored 30.9%. Both episodes won in its timeslot and were the most watched program on primetime.

Mother Lily And Roselle Monteverde Host A Victory-Welcome Party For Direk Jun Lana & Paolo Ballesteros For The Success Of 'Die Beautiful' In Tokyo Filmfest

MOTHER LILY MONTEVERDE hosted a victory-welcome party for Direk Jun Lana and Paolo Ballesteros at her Valencia Events Place last Monday for the success of "Die Beautiful" which won the best actor and the audience awards at the Tokyo International Filmfest. So many of his showbiz colleagues are happy for Paolo and greeted him on social media, like Joey de Leon, Anne Curtis, Eugene Domingo, Allan K, Barbie Forteza, Carla Abellana, Rocco Nacino, etc.
 
"Ako, I'm very happy for Jun Lana," says Mother Lily who's happy these days because her movie, 'The Escort', is a certified big hit. "As a scriptwriter, he did many movies with us like 'Paraiso ni Efren', 'Red Diaries', 'I Think I'm in Love', 'Two Timer', then he started directing for us in 'Gigil', 'My Neighbor's Wife', 'So It's You', 'The Prenup' and many other films, kaya I'm happy for the victory of his 'Die Beautiful'. Sana makapasok sila sa Metro-Manila Filmfest, at yun ding entry ng Regal, 'Mano Po 7, Chinoy'."

"Not many people know it, but it's Mother Lily who sent me to a university in Melbourne, Australia to study film directing," adds Jun. "Kaya I owe her and her daughter Roselle a lot."

Did he expect "Die Beautiful" to win in Tokyo? "Honestly, no, because I didn't know how a Filipino film about a transgender would resonate with Japanese audiences, kasi I really made it with Pinoy viewers in mind. But when a lot of Japanese viewers were laughing during the screening our movie and later told us they love it, sabi ko, parang may laban kasi very positive ang feedback. And si Paolo, everybody is raving about his performance kaya alam ko malaki ang chance niya to win."

Direk Jun says Paolo is now in the same ranks as other local actors who won acting awards in A list festivals, like Uge who also won in the Tokyo Filmfest, Jaclyn Jose who won in Cannes, Therese Malvar in Moscow and Nora Aunor in Cairo. Even Paolo's own daughter, Kiera, is so happy for her dad and greeted him in a video message. Kiera now lives with her mom in Chicago and is obviously very proud of her father's achievement.

Here's wishing that "Die Beautiful" will make it as a finalist in the December filmfest and that people would really go and watch it to make it a big hit. post">

Mika Dela Cruz moves out of ABS-CBN; signs contract with GMA

Kapamilya teen actress Mika Dela Cruz is now with GMA7. The actress has formally inked a deal with kapuso network Tuesday afternoon, November 8.

Present in the contract signing are GMA's Program Manager Hazel Abonita, GMA Artist Center's AVP for Talent Imaging And Marketing Mr Simoun Ferrer, GMA SVP for Entertainment Lilybeth Rasonable, co-manager Perry Lansigan of PPL Entertainment and Artist Center talent manager Daryl Zamora.

The young actress said in the interview that she is excited to work with now fellow GMA Artist Center star Barbie Forteza.

A product of Star Circle Summer Kid Quest.in 2006, she has received a PMPC Star Award for Best Child Film Actress in 2010. Her notable appearances in television include Goin Bulilit, Maalaala Mo Kaya, and Mirabella.

Mika is the younger sister of kapuso actress Angelika Dela Cruz.

GMA-7 Christmas Station ID 2016 'Maniwala Sa Magic Ng Pasko,' The First Philippine 3D Animated Christmas Campaign

This year, GMA Network veers away with the usual glittery, star-studded Christmas campaign and focused on what Christmas truly means to the heart and mind of Filipino families.

Using the latest in three-dimensional film technologies, Kapuso network's three-part Christmas 2016 campaign dubbed as "Maniwala Sa Magic Ng Pasko" becomes the first locally-produced 3D animated Christmas campaign on Philippine TV.

And instead of featuring its roster of talents in the campaign, the Kapuso network that is one-in-heart with the Filipino audience brings to life three endearing and magical stories that will inspire viewers to believe in the magic of Christmas highlights the use of creativity, innovation and 3D graphics.

"During such a busy time of the year, we hope that, by spreading the message of hope, every Kapuso will get to experience the joy and limitless possibilities that come with believing in the magic of the Season," says GMA Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon.

"It is felt that the use of animated images best complements the essence of our Holiday message this year – to believe in the magic of Christmas. Through this, it is hoped that even our youngest Kapusos will enjoy our campaign and embrace the meaning of our Christmas message this season," GMA President and COO Mr. Gilberto Duavit Jr. shares.

The first story entitled "Magic Crayons" highlights the magical feeling of having one's wish granted for Christmas in the eyes of a child.

The Maniwala Sa Magic Ng Pasko Christmas campaign comes at the heels of GMA's animated anthology series Alamat's win of the country's first "Best of Festival" Award at the US International Film and Video Festival (USIFVF), a recognition given to an outstanding entry among Gold Camera awardees in the USIFVF.

GMA's Christmas stories are the brainchild of GMA's Program Support Department headed by Regie Bautista (First Vice President), Dino Garcia (Assistant Vice President), Hasmin Marable (Assistant Vice President), BJ Camaya (Associate Creative Director), Catherine Ko (Project Manager), Nicolle Castillo (Writer), and Juan Javier,  Reybert Ramos, Laqy Laqueo (Artists); and brought to life by GMA's Post Production Department composed of Edward Achacoso (First Vice President), Paul Ticzon (Vice President and Head of Operations), and April Canasa-Angeles (Senior Manager, Video Graphics Section).

Veteran actress and Batangas 6th District Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto said she does not meddle with the affairs of her son, Luis Manzano, especially when it comes to his love life.

Speaking on DZMM, Santos said she respects all her son's decisions.

"Alam niya kung saan siya masaya, alam niya ang tama, alam niya ang mali. I am just here to guide him. He is old enough, mature enough to handle his life," Santos said when asked about Manzano's dates with actress Jessy Mendiola, who she has met on different occasions.

(He knows what can make him happy. He knows when he's right and when he's wrong. I am just here to guide him. He is old enough, mature enough to handle his life.)

She also said she does not pressure her son to get married or to have children.

"Hindi ko pwedeng panghimasukan kasi ang mas worse, magdesisyon siya tapos masisira rin. Siya naman ang nakakaramdam noon eh," Santos said.

(I cannot meddle [in his affairs] because it will be worse if he made a decision that he will regret. He'll know if it's the right time [to get married.])

Santos earlier expressed her support for her son after the television host received harsh criticism over his admission that he is dating Mendiola.

Manzano, three months after confirming his split with Locsin, told the media that he and Mendiola started going out. It was in response to a report claiming that they were already a couple, and after photos of them on a movie date surfaced.

Mendiola also earlier shared her experience in meeting Santos, who invited her for dinner.
