Alden Richards gets more than what he asked for; plays Lakan in Encantadia

Alden Richards gets more than what he asked for

It was in 2012, when buzz started to circulate that GMA7  has plans of reviving the hit 2005 fantasy series Encantadia. Alden was one of those actors who showed interest of wanting to become part of the new saga.

He tweeted about it on his Twitter account.

During that time, the name Alden Richards was barely known. He only had stints in Party Pilipinas, and an afternoon soap called Alakdana in 2011.

But later that year, he became part of the Dingdong-Marian soap called Beloved and a primetime series he can call his own - "One True Love" with Louise Delos Reyes.

Four years later, Alden Richards is already a big name with numerous endorsements. Thanks to Eat Bulaga's Kalyeserye and his partnership with Maine Mendoza Now, he need not to ask for bit roles but roles that are just bigger than him.

Tonight, in Encantadia, his much publicized guest appearance for Encantadia will start. Alden plays Lakan, a Mulawin whose puAnd we're as much excited as you all.

Bridget Jones’ Baby Movie Review: A Rom-Com Not For Young But Older Viewers That's Is Hilarious And Entertaining

THE FIRST Bridget Jones movie in 2001, "Bridget Jones' Diary", about a year in the life of the title character hit all the right buttons so it was a big hit and it's not surprising that a sequel came out in 2004, "Bridget Jones:The Edge of Reason", which was not as successful. Now, 12 years later, we have "Bridget Jones' Baby", as directed by Sharon Maguire who also helmed the first one but skipped Part 2.

The question now is whether Bridget's story still has any appeal for millennials who want their romcoms to have younger stars. Renee Zellweger is now 47 years old while Colin Firth is 56 and Patrick Dempsey is 50. Will viewers under 30 still be attracted to watch them together in a movie? Well, we honestly hope viewers today will still give them a chance as the movie exceeds our expectations, being quite hilarious and entertaining.

We follow once again the tentative romance between Bridget (Renee), now middle aged and still a single lonely heart, and her true love, Mark Darcy (Colin). But since Hugh Grant refused to return in the new movie as the third wheel (his character Daniel died and Bridget even attends the funeral), his shoes are now filled in by Dr. McDreamy himself (Patrick.) Bridget is no longer dependent on a man just to achieve happiness in life and, whereas she used to have a battle with the bulge, she has now plateaued on her ideal weight.

Even if the second movie ended with her getting Darcy, it now appears that she lost him eventually and he's now married to some other girl. She is now a successful TV producer who's turning 43 and, to celebrate her birthday, she attends a musical festival where she meets a visiting handsome American love guru, Jack (Dempsey).

They have a one-night stand and, a week later, she meets Darcy in a children's party and they also end up in bed. She later finds out she's preggers, but who's the father? She doesn't know and for a while, she lets both Jack and Darcy think they're the dad, until she can no longer hide it from them and they all participate together in doing pre-natal things while waiting for the stork's visit.

Also back in the third edition are Jim Broadbent and Gemma Jones as Bridget's parents, and Sally Phillips, James Callis and Shirley Henderson as Bridget's friends who are married now while she remains to be a singleton. A new member of the cast is Emma Thompson (who helped writing the script) as Dr. Rawlings, Bridget's gynecologist, and she tries to steal her scenes as much as she could. Also managing to steal some scenes of her own is Sarah Solemani as Bridget's wild and wacky co-worker, Miranda. Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran gamely appears in a cameo.

Reports about Renee's face having changed so drastically seem grossly exaggerated and, in all fairness to her, she reprises her role well with her timing still impeccable. Colin remains to be the uptight and emotionally pent up Darcy while Patrick perfectly serves as his foil and gives quite a charming and relatable performance. All in all, "BJB" has much raunchier humor and takes potshots at social media and other references to contemporary culture, but the director manages to balance it off all quite nicely.

Yasmien Kurdi Thinks Her Frequent Violent Catfights With Katrina Halili Helps 'Sa Piling Ni Nanay' Maintain Its High Ratings

YASMIEN KURDI is ecstatic that her afternoon show "Sa Piling ni Nanay" continues to be the toprater in its slot even if a new show was pitted against it. "Nakakatuwa kasi hindi kami iniwan ng loyal followers namin," she says. "Talaga naman kasing mas umiinit at mas tumitindi ang mga eksena namin ni Katrina Halili at tuwing maghaharap na lang kami sa eksena, lagi kaming nagkakapisikalan with matching sampalan at sabunutan na nagki-click nang husto sa viewers. Ang mga kasama naman all do a great job, sina Gabby Eigenmann, Jillian Ward, Nova Villa at si Mark Herras who just renewed his contract with GMA Network."

"13 years na ako sa GMA and whatever I have achieved up to this point, utang ko yun lahat sa kanila," Mark says. "Kaya I didn't hesitate to renew my contract and be a true blue Kapuso. Nagpapasalamat talaga ako sa lahat ng suportang ibinigay nila sa akin since I joined Starstruck in 2003 and I'm ready to accept more challenging roles to prove to them na hindi sila nagkamali for renewing my contract."

This week in "Sa Piling ni Nanay", the truth about Jillian Ward as Katherine not really coming from an egg of Katrina Halili as Scarlet has been revealed. It's not established that her real mom is Yasmien and she's not just a surrogate. Because of this, Nova Villa as Matilda removed from Katrina all the property she's supposed to inherit from her and transferred it all to the name of Jillian, with Mark as Jonas being the administrator.

This made Katrina so mad because she will end up a pauper when she's been scheming after Matilda's wealth all the time. When Nova has a heart attack, Katrina won't help her at all but when Jillian came, Katrina is forced to take Nova to the hospital. She continues to try killing Nova but every time she does so, someone saves the old woman in the nick of time. As for Jillian, she is still mad at her mom Yasmien for leaving her then but her heart melted when she got sick and Yasmien took good care of her until she regained her health.

Meet the other side of Kim Chiu, the Chinita Pranskter

Kim Chiu is barely new in pinch-hitting as host for ABS-CBN's noontime show "It's Showtime" when this thing happened. Somebody took a video of her making a prank to the show's main host - the Unkabogable Vice Ganda.

In the video, Kim was seen poking at Vice Ganda's back but acted as if she's innocent from doing such thing. Vice turns his head to look but finds no one.

Even Kim herself found it funny when she saw it on Twitter,.

We wonder if Vice Ganda was able to find out who did it.  And to you Kim, the Chinita Pranskter, here's for you.

You're such a PRO!!!
