“Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako” Named Himig Handog Best Pinoy Pop Song of the Year
“Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako,” an original Filipino love song written by Edwin Marollano and interpreted by KZ Tandingan emerged as the grand prize winner at the “Himig Handog Pinoy Pop (P-Pop) Love Songs 2014” Monday, September 29 (September 28, Sunday Riyadh, London, and Pacific time) on The Filipino Channel (TFC) worldwide.
Marollano bested 14 other songwriter-finalists to win the cash prize of P1 million and a trophy designed by renowned sculptor Michael Cacnio. Tandingan, meanwhile, bagged the ABS-CBN.com Favorite Interpreter Award.
Hailed as the 2nd Best Song was “Halik sa Hangin,” a song written by David Dimaguila and interpreted by Ebe Dancel with Abra. The other winners were “Mahal Kita Pero” as 3rd Best Song composed by Melchora Mabilog and interpreted by Janella Salvador, “Walang Basagan ng Trip” as 4th Best Song composed by Eric De Leon and interpreted by Jugs Jugueta and Teddy Corpuz, and “Hindi Wala” as 5th Best Song composed by Nica Del Rosario and interpreted by Juris Fernandez. The TFC’s Choice Award and Star Studio Readers’ Choice Award went to “If You Don’t Want to Fall” composed by Jude Gitamondoc and interpreted by Jed Madela.
Meanwhile, the following special awards were also given away during the finals night of Philippines’ biggest multimedia songwriting competition: Star Cinema’s Choice Award – “Halik sa Hangin”; MYX’s Choice for Best Music Video Award – “Mahal Kita Pero” under the direction of students from San Beda College, Alabang (Muntinlupa, Metro Manila); Star Music Listeners’ Choice Award – “Bumabalik ang Nagdaan” composed by Sarah Jane Gandia and interpreted by Jessa Zaragoza; and MOR 101.9 Listeners’ Choice Award and ABS-CBNMobile Fan Favorite Award – “Simpleng Tulad Mo” composed by Meljohn Magno and interpreted by Daniel Padilla.
The other finalists of this year’s “Himig Handog P-Pop Love songs 2014” are “Akin Ka Na Lang” composed by Francis Louis Salazar and interpreted by Morisette Amon, “Dito” composed by Raizo Brent Chabeldin and Biv De Vera and interpreted by Jovit Baldovino, “Hanggang Kailan” composed by Jose Joel Mendoza and interpreted by Angeline Quinto, “Pare, Mahal Mo Raw Ako” composed by Jovinor Tan and interpreted by Michael Pangilinan, “Pumapag-ibig” composed by Jungee Marcelo and interpreted by Marion Aunor featuring Rizza Cabrera and Seed Bunye, “Umiiyak ang Puso” composed by Rolando Azor and interpreted by Bugoy Drilon, and “Everything Takes Time” composed and interpreted by Hazel Faith dela Cruz.
“Himig Handog” is the Philippines’ first interactive multimedia songwriting tilt launched by ABS-CBN in 2000, originally to pay tribute to the overseas Filipino worker but has become an instrument in showcasing the greatness of Filipinos in songwriting, singing, or music in general. This year TFC continues to herald this greatness or as the network’s 20th anniversary theme promotes, the ‘Galing ng Filipino.’
Now on its sixth year, “Himig Handog” continues to search for exceptional amateur and professional Filipino songwriters, and endearing and uniquely Pinoy love songs that transcend generations, and which stand out like some of today’s OPM classic love songs, which include “Hanggang” by Wency Cornejo, “Kung Ako Na Lang Sana” by Bituin Escalante, “Kung Ako Ba Siya” by Piolo Pascual, “Bye Bye Na” by Rico Blanco, “This Guy’s In Love With You Pare” by Chito Miranda, and two of 2013’s biggest hits, Padilla’s “Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat” and Aiza Seguerra’s “Anong Nangyari Sa Ating Dalawa.”

Kapamilya star Angel Locsin was spotted in Boracay and was taken a photo while eating Isaw (chicken intestine). Angel still looked gorgeous and hot even on this stolen shot.
This is one of those rare moments you see a superstar go out and be one of the crowd. Early this year, Angel was also spotted in an extraordiary way handing out some money from her purse to an old street beggar.

Kapuso Stars Walk Out on Tom Rodriguez During 'Don't Lose The Money' Taping

Kapuso stars Rafael Rosell, Pancho Magno, Bettinna Carlos and Victor Basa walked out on "Don’t Lose the Money" game master Tom Rodriguez during the recent taping of the Kapuso game show.
Tom was supposed to announce the results of the game when one of the day’s contestants Pancho Magno walked out of the set.
Without a word, Pancho stormed out and his teammates Bettinnas and Victor followed soon after.
John “Sweet” Lapus, from the opposing team, acted pissed off. One of his teammates Rafael, left the set too.
Sweet opened up his frustration to other teammate Pauleen Luna. “Game lang ‘to. Ang cheap naman… It’s part of the game,” he remarked.
After a few seconds, the contestants who left the set walked back in carrying cakes with lit candles.
Without a word, Pancho stormed out and his teammates Bettinnas and Victor followed soon after.
John “Sweet” Lapus, from the opposing team, acted pissed off. One of his teammates Rafael, left the set too.
Sweet opened up his frustration to other teammate Pauleen Luna. “Game lang ‘to. Ang cheap naman… It’s part of the game,” he remarked.
After a few seconds, the contestants who left the set walked back in carrying cakes with lit candles.
The delighted Tom started sobbing, especially when he saw Carla Abellana with them.
His leading lady and the woman he is dating took him by the hand and tried to console the crying Tom. She also delivered her wish for the Don’t Lose the Money host.
“Actually hindi ko na kailangan ipagdasal na bigyan ka ni God ng madaming blessing kasi alam ko He will bless you abundantly because you work so hard and you are so determined. So sana, kayanin mo na lang lahat ng trials, lahat ng struggles na dadating pa sa buhay mo,” she said.
Carla afterwards said that the surprise wasn’t over. “Hindi pa 'yun 'yung surprise mo. Merong mas special pa na surprise sa 'yo,” she declared.
She pointed to the screen where an AVP from Tom’s family played. It showed video greetings from his father, mother, sisters, brother-in-law, nephews and nieces in the U.S.
“Happy birthday! Love you, miss you. I watched your show yesterday, it was great. Love you, love you,” his dad William Mott said.
Overjoyed, he thanked everyone who cooked up the surprise for him.
“Thank you everyone… best birthday ever. Even though I’m far away from my family, kahit malayo sila, namimiss ko sila araw-araw. Sobrang saya ko po kaya thank you so much,” Tom said.
His leading lady and the woman he is dating took him by the hand and tried to console the crying Tom. She also delivered her wish for the Don’t Lose the Money host.
