SHOW DESCRIPTION: Someone to Watch Over Me is a Philippine romantic drama series to be broadcast by GMA Network starring Tom Rodriguez and Lovi Poe. It premiered on September 5, 2016 replacing Juan Happy Love Story on the network's primetime GMA Telebabad block and also worldwide on GMA Pinoy TV.

This inspirational drama tackles the story of a wife's unwavering love for her husband who is suffering from Early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Tom Rodriguez breathes life to the character of TJ Chavez, a playful and outgoing guy who falls madly in love with Joanna. He and his wife will face their biggest setback when he is diagnosed with the rare disorder. Lovi Poe is Joanna Mercado, the compassionate wife of TJ. She will do everything for her sick husband even allowing Irene into their lives and into their home. As Irene receives all of TJ's love and affection, Joanna acts as TJ's nurse who takes care of his needs. Max Collins plays the role of Irene Montenegro, TJ's ex-girlfriend. She tries to stay away from TJ but he keeps seeking her as he no longer recognizes Joanna as his wife. How far can Joanna still go and what else is she willing to do for her ill husband? Will TJ continue fighting for his love for Irene or will he finally remember Joanna as his wife and as someone who stayed with him despite his sickness and her pain? Rafa Siguion Reyna, A Versatile Actor Who Can Do Both Musicals & Drama With Equal Ease, Also Raised With Good Breeding By His Mom Bibeth Orteza

VARIOUS KAPUSO STARS showed up on stage during the GMA Network Christmas Party for the press, but only one was gracious enough to come down and approach our table to personally greet us, Rafa Siguion Reyna. This is rare among showbiz denizens. One of the hosts that night is still relatively an unknown but we interviewed him and wrote lengthily about him. But that night of the party, he saw us an just ignored us. How sad but that's actually the normal thing in showbiz. Very few folks remember if you do them a good them, but right something negative and they'll quickly talk to you. Rafa's good breeding shows, thanks to his mom, Bibeth Orteza, who is so well loved in the industry. Rafa usually play character roles in GMA soaps but he doesn't mind.





"Okay lang to do supporting roles, basta tuloy-tuloy ang work," he says. "But kung bibigyan ba ako ng demanding lead role, why not? I'll grab it and thank GMA. Pero di naman ako nagmamadali."
The difference of Rafa from other actors is that he can do TV and theater work with equal ease. He can sing and dance and play a foreign character even in imported musicals like "Saturday Night Fever" and "Grease". He should've joined "Superstar Duets" and gave everyone a run for their money.

"I feel complete as an actor with the roles I get both on TV and the stage," says Rafa who can do both
musicals and drama with equal ease.

Rafa and his mom Bibeth donated prizes at the Christmas party, like a microwave oven and Bibeth's traditional Christmas gift, spicy "tuyo" with sauce, which is based on a 25-year old recipe in her own kitchen. Thank you, Rafa and Bibeth.

SHOW DESCRIPTION: Alyas Robin Hood (lit.?Alias Robin Hood) is an upcoming Philippine drama-action series broadcast by GMA Network starring Dingdong Dantes, Megan Young and Andrea Torres. It is set to premiere in September 19, 2016 on GMA Telebabad primetime block replacing the Korean drama Descendants of the Sun and also aired worldwide on GMA Pinoy TV.

According to its producers the series was inspired by the English folklore, Robin Hood.

Many netizens accused GMA for ripping off a DC Comics character, Green Arrow, and the hit American action-adventure television series, Arrow after a Facebook user posted a comparison between Arrow and the alleged poster of Alyas Robin Hood which was actually a fan-art from a blogsite. While others simply see a cash-in or riding the popularity of the said show. The controversy continues when the teaser of the series was released. Stephen Amell, who played as Green Arrow on the American television series posted his blushed emoji from the shared video on Facebook. In a response, Suzette Doctolero, Alyas Robin Hood consultant clarified that it is not a rip-off of Arrow and both Alyas Robin Hood and the DC character/TV series are inspired by English folklore Robin Hood.

COMEDIAN OF THE YEAR WAS NOT AN ACTOR: Will Eugene Domingo be suitable to play Leila de Lima in a ANG BABAE SA SEPTIC TANK Sequel?

So, next month, January 2017, our blog will be 2 years old. Who would have thought what started as a prank would last that long? Anyway, we like to believe we have found our niche. I still have to find more time to devote to the blog though- but hopefully we'll be more consistent and do it on a larger-scale in the coming new year.

 2016 was highly entertaining, but showbiz was trumped by the political comedian named Leila de Lima who gave us the laughs the most. Self-uprighteousness pretensions was never as laughable. She is expected to entertain us more in 2017 as she hilariously tried to enlarge her stand-up comedy act in the international comedy stores. Nice to know 2017 will be as rib-tickling as this year.

 Eugene Domingo might not be appropriate to interpret De Lima in the screen anymore. Eugene just got an Italian boyfriend, she might be too classy to many to play the sugar mommy of a provincial driver-bodyguard.

 I liked the first version of Ang Babae sa Septic Tank. I'll surely watch the second one.

Miss World 2016 is Stephanie Del Valle from Puerto Rico

Miss Puerto Rico Stephanie Del Valle was crowned Miss World 2016 on Sunday, December 18, 2016, during the pageant that was held at the Theater at MGM National Harbor in Maryland, USA.

Stephanie bested over a hundred contestants from around the world, including the Philippine representative, Catriona Gray, who had a top 5 finish.

Placing 1st runner-up was Yaritza Reyes from Dominican Republic, while 2nd runner-up was Natasha Mannuela from Indonesia.

Aside from Catriona, the other contestant that made it to the top 5 was Evelyn Thungu from Kenya.

The Top 11 also had candidates from Korea, Belgium, United States, China PR, Brazil and People's Choice winner, Mongolia.

Candidates from Hungary, India, Australia, Slovakia, France, Cook Islands, Ghana, Japan and Thailand had top 20 finish.

Event winners include Cook Islands (Sports), Philippines (Multimedia), Mongolia (Talent), Indonesia (Beauty with a Purpose), and China PR (Top Model).

Miss World 2016 winner is Puerto Rico! Philippines' Catriona Gray got robbed?

#MissWorld2016 winner has just been crowned in the US, and she is surprisingly Miss Puerto Rico Stephanie del Valle, winning over 116 other candidates.

Del Valle was able to beat heavy favorite Miss Philippines Catriona Gray, who certainly gave the best answer in the Q and A round, but sadly failed to win even just a runner-up position.

Here's how Catriona answered during the Q&A:

Question from Miss World 2015 Mireia Lalaguna: "Which qualities do you think it will take to wear my crown?"

Miss Philippines answered: "I think, first of all, it takes bravery. To be a Miss world, to carry a burning torch, it is like action carried out by one to illuminate the lives of many and I would dedicate my whole self, my love for the arts and my voice to trying to uplift, empower and educate people and it would be my greatest honor and duty to hold this torch high enough so that all the world could feel and see its light."

As it turned out, the fantastic answer she gave didn't matter at all and a Top 5 placement was the highest she could get.

First Runner Up to Miss Puerto Rico was her fellow Caribbean beauty Yaritza Reyes from the Dominican Republic, who was a Top 10 semifinalist in Miss Universe 2014.

The 2nd Runner Up meanwhile was the Beauty with a Purpose winner, Miss Indonesia Natasha Mannuela.

In the Top 5 were Misses Kenya (Evelyn Thungu) and Philippines (Catriona Gray, Multimedia winner). These two I guess deserved higher placements.

Top 11 semifinalists were: Belgium (Lenty Frans), Brazil (Beatrice Fontoura), China PR (Jing Kong, Top Model winner), Korea (Hyun Wang), Mongolia (Bayartsetseg Altangerel, People's Choice and Talent winner) and United States (Audra Mari).

Those who made it to the Top 20 quarter-finalists were: Australia (Madeline Cowe), Cook Islands (Natalia Short, Sports winner), France (Morgandm Edvige), Ghana (Antoinette Delali Kemavor), Hungary (Timea Gelencser), India (Priyadarshini Chatterjee), Japan (Priyanka Yoshikawa), Slovakia (Kristína Činčurová) and Thailand (Jinnita Buddee).

Miss World 2016 will be aired here in the Philippines at 8AM today via GMA 7.
