"I believe that comfort should comes first before fashion." That's how Ian Somerhalder, the newest well-known international endorser of local clothing brand Penshoppe after Ed Westwick, Mario Maurer and Zac Efron, describes his way of dealing with his choice for clothings.
During the successful launched of Ian Somerhalder as Penshoppe endorser on Wednesday afternoon at the Peninsula Manila Hotel in Makati City, the "The Vampire Diaries" star was also asked what stories about the Philippines should he tell his friends and family when he gets back to the US, and he quickly replied, "Never go there [Philippines], they [Filipinos] will kill you with kindness."
The 33-year-old Hollywood star who just came all the way from his photoshoot in Palawan, also talked about his long experience (almost two decades) in modeling, his upcoming Hollywood movie, his own charity and the reason why he agreed to endorse Penshoppe (which he described as a "fashionably comfortable" piece of clothing) over other brands.

ABS-CBN opens the pages of one of the most provocative stories to be ever told on television beginning this Monday (May 28) as it premieres “Precious Hearts Romances presents Hiyas” starring the first team up of Zanjoe Marudo and Megan Young.

Sam on causing Derek-Angelica break-up: No way!
Sam Pinto denied rumors claiming she was involved in the break-up of Derek Ramsay and Angelica Panginiban.
“Hindi talaga totoo,” she told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! during the Are You Game? event of Women’s Health Philippines and Gatorade on Saturday, May 19 at the Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater.
According to the 22-year-old actress-model, the rumor started when a gossip blog came out with a story claiming she and Derek met in Australia during Holy Week.
“There’s this blog, it came out with this blind item story. E usually yung clues niya, yung title, yun yung initials ng blind item niya. Tapos yung story is may hunk actor who went to Australia and had a hook-up with this sexy actress. Yung title, is DR and SP. E sino pa ba yun?” Sam narrated.
Sam’s plan to visit Australia during Holy Week never pushed through.
“I was interviewed, ‘Where will you go for Holy Week?’ I said, ‘I might go to Australia.’ I never went to Australia. I was just here in the Philippines with my family in Batangas. So ayun,” she explained.
Single
Sam and Derek worked together for a TV commercial. But FHM Philippines’ Sexiest Woman in the World for 2011 said they didn’t even get in touch after that project.
“I haven’t seen him or talked to him since we did the commercial. So that’s not me,” she said.
Sam added, “For me naman, I know the truth. So parang, whatever. But then, when people started bashing me, it got annoying na kasi they all think it was me. They all say, ‘Ikaw pala yung dahilan,’ganyan-ganyan, ‘kaya sila nag-break.’ Can you get your story right first? I can show you my passport. I never went to Australia.”
To set the record straight, Sam said she’s currently single.
“Single ako ngayon,” she said. “Kasi, wala lang. I guess with this whole FHM thing going on, it’s better to be single. This opportunity is not gonna be there the whole time, not like love. Love can wait.”
Sam is in the running as this year’s FHM Philippines’ Sexiest Woman of the World. And according to the Kapuso star herself, she’s number one in the current ranking.
Is she expecting to claim the title again this year?
“Not really expecting, kasi ang daming lumalaban talaga this year, grabe. Of course, it’d be better if I would number one this year.”
After “Boy Pick-Up: The Movie,” Sam has another big project lined up this year.
“According to Sen. Bong (Revilla Jr.), we’re doing part two of ‘Si Agimat at Si Enteng Kabisote.’ So I think we’ll start shooting in July,”she said.

P-Pop Group Down To Mars Launches Self-Titled First Recording Album
The seven-member Pinoy Pop or “P-Pop” group Down to Mars launched their first recording album yesterday, May 22, at Dolce Bar on Timog Avenue, Quezon City.
The album entitled Down to Mars contains five songs including a Tagalog ballad “Nandito Lang Ako” and the carrier single “My Everything,” which also comes with a remix version.
Members of the group Kiro, Yheen, Daisuke, Sky, Jeongwon, Jang and Kenji showed their amazing performance to their fans and some members of the press and VIPs who were present during the launch, including former GMA SVP for Entertainment TV Wilma Galvante who was the guest of honor.
The boys dedicated their only Tagalog song in the album to Galvante, who they said was instrumental in the formation of the group.
Down to Mars was formed in 2011 through the initiative of dance choreographer, and now the group’s co-manager, Geleen Eugenio. The group is co-managed by GMA’s Talent Development and Management Department or the GMA Artist Center.
“Nasa Party Pilipinas kami nun, tapos may segment doon na kailangan namin ng foreign-looking boys na makakasama ni Kyla sa isang production number. Tapos ‘yung aming music researcher nagdala, ang dinala sina Jang at Daisuke. Sabi ko ‘OK to ah, may dating.’ Tapos English sila nang English. Tinanong ko sila, ‘Are you enjoying the show?’ Sagot naman siya ng ‘Yes, yes…’ So ako naman English din nang English. Tapos nung tinanong ko yung music researcher kung magkakaibigan ba ‘tong mga ito, sumagot naman sila ‘Opo, magkakaibigan po kami.’ Marunong palang mag-Tagalog,” recalled Geleen.
Jang and Daisuke told Eugenio that they have peers who are also good performers. Two days later, the group showed their talent to Eugenio, who in turn introduced them to then GMA Entertainment TV Group Head Wilma Galvante.
The then nameless group performed in front of Ms. Galvante and all the program managers. The entertainment heads were impressed and not long thereafter, the group signed up for a co-management contract with GMA Artist Center.
Since then, Down to Mars has been a mainstay in the Sunday afternoon musical variety show Party Pilipinas. They were officially launched on television on May 22, 2011, exactly a year before the launch of their first album.
The members of the group are unanimous in saying that the release of their first album was a dream-come-true. And now that their first dream has become a reality, they’re working on the other items in their wish list like having a TV show of their own.
GMA Entertainment Vice President Marivin Arayata, who was also a special guest during the launch, granted their wish and promised to guest the group in her comedy shows.
The year 2012 has so far been a lucky year for Down to Mars. Incidentally, the song “2012” was what they sang when they were launched in Party Pilipinas a year ago. Also this year, the Department of Tourism chose Down to Mars to represent the country in the celebration of South Korea’s national day on July 22, where they will perform three songs including “Bonamana (Beauty),” a hit single of the popular South Korean Pop (K-Pop) group Super Junior.
The group said that they will be working doubly hard to practice for that big night.
The album Down to Mars is distributed by Polyeast Records.

Warner Bros. has just unleashed three character banners for Christopher Nolan's “The Dark Knight Rises.”
The banners individually feature Batman, Catwoman and Bane in what the studio calls “Rain” series. Another series dubbed as “Snow” is set to follow.
Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar® winner Christian Bale again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar® winner Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake.
Returning to the main cast, Oscar® winner Michael Caine plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar® winner Morgan Freeman reprises the role of Lucius Fox.

Eight months after the untimely death of her husband Anthony Lansingan, Camille Prats is now trying to recover from her husband’s demise. Her husband died in September 2011 after suffering from nasopharyngeal cancer, a type of throat cancer affecting the upper section of the throat.
“Masasabi ko po na I’m getting better now. Kasi mas natatanggap ko na na wala na talaga siya, na hindi na siya babalik. Kasi nung mga first few months talagang ang iniisip ko baka naman bumalik pa. May ganun e. Parang in denial pa ako. Ngayon natatanggap ko na na hindi na talaga siya babalik. But there are days na ‘pag naiisip ko siya ang sakit talaga,” she shared in an interview during the press launch of GMA-7’s newest primetime series Luna Blanca.
Camille recalled those gloomy moments when she remembers her late husband.
“There was also one time I was at a party with my friends. Tapos mejo gimik ‘yon. Pagdating ko dun sumasayaw pa ako, tapos bigla akong nag-breakdown. Naiintindihan din naman ng mga friends ko e. Kasi these are the things that I don’t do without my husband, and now I’m doing these by myself.”
Although Camille is not entertaining suitors at the moment, she is not shutting her doors to the possibility of getting married again.
“Hindi natin masasabi. Ang dasal ko lang naman, kung sakali mang may dumating man na ganun, sana naman iparamdam sa akin ng asawa ko na ‘Go, mahal. Bongga na ‘yan for you. Grab the opportunity,’ diba? Gusto ko lang ng may approval niya,” said Camille.
“Kung sino man ‘yung tao na ‘yon kailangan niya na tanggapin ‘yun e na ganito kasi talaga ‘yung pinagdaanan ko so if there will be times na maaalala ko siya or sad ako tungkol sa kanya, sana hindi ‘yon ikakasama ng loob niya na naiisip ko pa rin siya,” she added.
Camille currently stars as Rowena in GMA’s new primetime series “Luna Blanca,” which is a sequel to the 2008 fantasy-drama series “Luna Mystika.”
In Luna Blanca, Camille will portray a slightly antagonistic role, which is far from her role as a loving mother in Munting Heredera.
“Doon po kasi sa Munting Heredera parang wala namang masamang buto sa katawan ni Sandra. Napakabait niya kasing tao, napaka-good-natured, walang hiniling na masama towards anybody kahit na masama na ‘yong ginagawa sa kanya. Dito kasi sa role ni Rowena,she was a good-natured woman pero nung dumating ‘yong puntong nagkaroon siya ng encounter with the engkanto at naanakan pa siya nito, siyempre nagkaroon siya ng galit, at hindi nawala sa kanya ‘yung galit na ‘yon.”

Shot in Istanbul, Turkey and directed by Olivier Megaton , “Taken 2” reunites Liam Neeson with his co-stars Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace in this rocket-paced action sequel that rivals some of the greatest gun-handlers in cinema history.
Neeson reprises the role of Bryan Mills, a father and an estranged husband who would do anything for his family in the movie. Mills’ daughter having been kidnapped the first time. But he faces a different kind of conflict in “Taken 2.” Liam Neeson returns as Bryan Mills, the retired CIA agent with a particular set of skills who stopped at nothing to save his daughter Kim from Albanian kidnappers. When the father of one of the kidnappers swears revenge, and takes Bryan and his wife hostage during their family vacation in Istanbul, Bryan enlists Kim to help them escape, and uses the same advanced level of special forces tactics to get his family to safety and then systematically take out the kidnappers one by one.
“In the first movie he's really a guy with nothing to lose. He's divorced, he's lost his daughter, and you see his reaction when she's kidnapped,” explains Megaton. “In this movie, he's got that relationship back and he's even flirting with his ex-wife. It's almost cheesy, but that makes him all the more human at the beginning of the movie, because he's not thinking about his training, he's thinking about his family.”
But being kidnapped once is unfortunate; twice is just careless. Rest assured, then, that things play out differently in this sequel. “The powers-that-be–namely our gracious leader Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen - have come up with a much better plot than that,” assures Grace. “Someone has the notion of attempting to abduct Bryan. It's a personal vendetta; someone bent on extracting recompense from a man with a particular set of skills, as ill-advised as that might be. So it's not a random second abduction of my character, Kim, which I think would be everyone's first concern.”

Luhrmann produces, along with Catherine Martin, Academy Award® winner Doug Wick (“Gladiator”), Lucy Fisher and Catherine Knapman. The executive producers are Academy Award® winner Barrie M. Osborne (“Lord of the Rings – Return of the King”) and Bruce Berman.
Two-time Academy Award®-winning production and costume designer Catherine Martin (“Moulin Rouge!”) designs as well as produces. The editors are Matt Villa, Jason Ballantine and Jonathan Redmond, and the director of photography is Simon Duggan. The music is by Craig Armstrong.
Opening across the Philippines on January 2013, “The Great Gatsby” will be distributed in IMAX® 3D, Digital 3D and regular format by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

Charlize Theron’s Monsters Turns to Evil Queen in "Snow White and the Huntsman"
The first role cast was also the wickedest: Queen Ravenna in Universal Picture’s Snow White and the Huntsman. The daughter of a sorceress, Ravenna slowly found her way to the dark side. Abducted by a vicious master when she was a girl, the only power Ravenna wielded was her astonishing beauty. Though her mother bestowed upon her an enchantment to protect her from the ravages of time, Ravenna is forced to maintain it by consuming the life force of young maidens. After she bewitched and killed Snow White’s father, King Magnus, Ravenna stalled her death and threw off the balance of life with an evil that spread like cancer across the kingdom. But her cruelty did not end there. To become truly immortal, Ravenna must consume the heart of Snow White…the moment her stepdaughter becomes the fairest in the land.
Reflects director Rupert Sanders on the power of this creature in our minds, as well as her role in this interpretation of the iconic story: “The Queen symbolizes death, and she is trying to stop her own from arriving. She is seeking immortality, so everything in the kingdom is thrown off balance. Oppositely, Snow White is the beating heart of life, and the Huntsman’s job is to take that life. If the Queen fails, life and death may fall back in sync and the kingdom will return to how it once was.”
Academy Award® winner Charlize Theron was brought aboard to play the fabled monarch. Discussing his decision to cast Theron, Sanders commends: “Charlize has given such staggering performances in her career, but she is also such an incredibly beautiful woman. She encompasses, more than any other actor out there, both power and beauty personified. She is Margaret Thatcher-meets-Kate Moss.”
Expounding upon the film’s symbolism and Theron’s decisions in bringing those tropes to life, Sanders adds: “When you are dealing with archetypes, you can play them big. People want to relish when the Queen says, ‘Mirror, mirror, on the wall.’ We want to see them coming from someone of this stature and beauty.”
Producer Joe Roth walks us through the team’s casting process: “Choosing Charlize was the idea right from the start. I’d worked with her in the past. We went over to the commercial shoot she was on and waited for her to take a break. When she came over, in four-inch stiletto heels and dressed in a very commercial way, I thought, ‘Rupert is going to be blown away!’”
The producer was just as pleased when she arrived on set to begin filming and was game for the most intense of situations to get into character, including an uncomfortable swim in a tub of black oil. “Charlize gives a performance as ferocious as the one she was asking for,” adds Roth. “It’s an interesting amalgam: She’s always in control, she’s magnificent to watch and she’s fearsome.”
Theron was attracted to the part because of the complex humanity of a betrayed and wounded creature - one that easily could have been drawn as a screeching stereotype. She explains a bit of the Queen’s backstory: “Ravenna’s mother instilled into her at a very young age that she can only be her true best self if she remains young and stays beautiful. She realizes that her magical powers are her survival. And that’s the road she travels.”
Though Ravenna has, according to Theron, “brutal instincts” and “an obsession with needing Snow White’s beating heart to give her immortality,” the reigning monarch hasn’t completely lost all traces of her humanity. Like Sanders, the actress appreciated the difficult lessons inherent in this timeless story. Theron shares: “Ravenna realizes that she wants something that, if she made different choices in her life, she could have had. But because of how she decided to live and the bed that she made for herself - one that she’s lying in right now - she can’t. It’s not even an option for her.”
When Snow White’s mother died and her father married Ravenna, the young princess found her innocence and compassion to be qualities the new Queen loathed. Locked away in a tower for seven years, Snow White grew up watching her father’s murderer rule the kingdom with an iron fist. But the young beauty, who had begun training as an archer, falconer and horsewoman, has escaped and now trains with an uneasy ally. The time has come for her to defend her people from the one who’s been crippling them. She makes an oath that she will become their weapon and challenges her fellow outcasts to ride with her against Ravenna.
Sanders knew that they had to walk a fine line with the character of Snow White. In adapting the centuries-old fairy tale, originally about a little girl who is more victim than fighter, it was important to the filmmakers that Snow White and her journey remain identifiable for contemporary audiences across the world. The hurdles and problems that she faces are issues with which girls and women grapple in modern day: loneliness and maturation, plus issues of trust, love and the power (as well as the ultimate fading) of beauty.

Synopsis: When long-term congressman Cam Brady (Ferrell) commits a major public gaffe before an upcoming election, a pair of ultra-wealthy CEOs plot to put up a rival candidate and gain influence over their North Carolina district. At first, Marty appears to be the unlikeliest possible choice but, with the help of his new benefactors’ support, a cutthroat campaign manager and his family’s political connections, he soon becomes a contender who gives the charismatic Cam plenty to worry about.
As election day closes in, the two are locked in a dead heat, with insults quickly escalating to injury until all they care about is burying each other, in this mud-slinging, back-stabbing, home-wrecking comedy that takes today’s political circus to its logical next level. Because even when you think campaign ethics have hit rock bottom, there’s room to dig a whole lot deeper.
