The Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation (GMMSF), through its president Mrs. Corazon Samaniego, has released the full results of the 43rd Box-Office Entertainment Awards.
Kapatid star Derek Ramsay received the Box-Office King award for his box-office hits Unkabogable: Praybeyt Benjamin and No Other Woman while her No Other Woman leading ladies Anne Curtis and Cristine Reyes named last year's Box-Office Queens.
Aside from the Box-Office Queen award, Anne also received the Most Popular Female Novelty Singer award.
Vice Ganda, Derek's co-star in Unkabogable: Praybeyt Benjamin was given the Phenomenal Box-Office Star award, a new category, to recognized her box-office star appeal for the said movie which earned a total of P331.61 million - the highest box-office returns in 2011. Vice also named last year's Male Concert Performer of the Year.
Meanwhile, the Box-Office Tandem award (also a new category) was given to Vic Sotto and Ai-Ai delas Alas for their hit Metro Manila Film Festival 2011 movie Enteng ng Ina Mo which raked a total of P237.88 million in box-office sales.

Despite her failure to become one of PBB Unlimited Big Winners and the controversy that brought about her early eviction in Kuya's house, Tin Patrimonio is keen on pursuing a career in showbiz.
In her interview this afternoon with Charlene Gonzales on "The Buzz", Tin expresses her desire to act in future ABS-CBN projects. She said she is willing to set aside, for the meantime, her father's (basketball legend Alvin Patrimonio) wish for her to pursue sports - particularly tennis - and join the upcoming Asian Olympics.
Not just she wanted to act, Tin also revealed her plan of joining the Binibining Pilipinas in 2015.

Why Jessica Sanchez almost got eliminated
The unthinkable happened on "American Idol" this week. Fil-Am singer Jessica Sanchez, admittedly a front runner on the talent search show received the lowest number of votes among the seven remaining finalists and faced elimination.
This prompted Randy Jackson to remark after seeing Jessica in the Bottom 3 along with Elise Testone and Joshua Ledet: "In the 11 years I've done this show, this is the first time this happens. This is a ridiculous Bottom 3, America . They got it wrong tonight."
This has been a scary week for Fil-Am singers. Cheesa Laureta, our bet on "The Voice" was in the Bottom 3 last Wednesday and also faced elimination. Thanks to her soulful rendition of "All By Myself," her coach, Cee-Lo Green, saved her from being sent home.
Jessica's lack of audience support was surprising since the judges and mentor Jimmy Iovine gave her excellent feedback. Randy, especially, was full of superlatives for her rendition of Jazmine Sullivan's "Stuttering": "That was superb. That was of the highest degree. You slew the biggest fish of the night."
Steven Tyler was just as complimentary: "Every time I hear you sing, I forget where I am."
Jimmy said, "She sang that song like she wasn't even thinking about it."
Compare that to how the judges assessed the performance of other contestants who were safe. J Lo on Phillip Phillips: "Underwhelming." Randy on Phillip: "It wasn't that wow of a moment." Jimmy on Hollie Cavanagh: "Her performance was stiff and contrived." Steven and J Lo on Hollie: "It wasn't perfect."
In previous shows, Ryan would call two or three contestants then announced who among them was either safe or faced elimination. Last Friday, he called in two singers at a time. He then put them in two groups: Jessica, Elise and Joshua in one, Philip, Hollie and Colton Dixon in the other. He then told Skylar Laine she was safe. Viewers were led to believe Jessica's group was safe, which wasn't true, of course.
When Ryan finally announced Jessica got the lowest number of votes and had to sing for her life on the show, there was a loud howl of protest from the live audience at the auditorium. The Fil-Am singer looked dazed when she started singing but after she sang a few lines, the three judges, in an unprecedented move, rushed to the stage. J Lo grabbed her microphone and told her to sit down, saying "You're not going home."
The judges used their only "save" to allow Jessica to stay on "AI." Randy remarked: "We are saving Jessica without any doubt. This girl is one of the best singers in America ever." He even campaigned for her: "Everybody, please vote for the best." That last remark has some netizens complaining about favoritism. Others believe otherwise, saying that the judges were only reminding viewers to vote on the basis of talent and not popularity.
So Jessica will be back next week when I suppose two singers will be eliminated and the judges can no longer use their "save" option. But why did Jessica land in the bottom after doing so well in previous weeks and despite glowing feedback from the judges?
There are those who say that the American audience is biased against Asian singers. If that is so, how did Jessica not land in the bottom 3 in the past weeks? Others say "AI" has predominantly female viewers who prefer male singers. That's why Phillip, who got a lukewarm response from the judges, was safe. Still others reason out that Jessica's supporters got complacent and neglected to vote for her because she was doing very well and didn't need their votes.
Whatever the reason was, what happened this week exposed the weakness of all talent shows requiring votes from the audience. It's not talent that matters but popularity. This is what happened to Jennifer Hudson who ended up seventh in Season 3. Look at her now! She won an Oscar and a Grammy and has a thriving musical and movie career.
If ever Jessica gets eliminated before the finale, she can count on recording companies lining up at her door to sign her up. Randy himself said it, "This girl is one of the best singers in America, ever."

No ‘sorry’ between Jose Manalo and wife Anna Lyn
Jose Manalo and wife Anna Lyn’s closed-door discussion with prosecutor Dinna Paulino on Wednesday, April 11 resulted in Anna Lyn deciding to pursue the case against her husband, according to GMA-7’s “Startalk TX” on Saturday, April 14.
Jose may not have given sufficient grounds to reach a settlement with his estranged wife during the meeting with the prosecutor. Anna Lyn’s legal counsel Atty. Lowell Fetizanan pointed out a “lack of resentment” from the Eat Bulaga host and comedian.
“Unfortunately nga, walang nagso-sorry so walang amicable settlement na na-reach,” reveals Fetizanan.
Jose, on the other hand, claims that reaching the missed settlement required a significant amount of his income. “Ayaw ipaayos, hindi na iniintindi kung ano… Parang lahat nu’ng kailangang kitain ko nandoon. Kailangan ko ring mabuhay.”
The complaint, a violation of the Republic Act 9262 or Anti-Violence against Women and Children Act, was formally filed on February 27 of this year.
The two are set to meet again in court later this month.
The 'other woman?'
In her interview on “The Buzz” on March 4, Anna Lyn claimed that Jose left her and their five children for another woman whose identity she did not disclose.
While reports say the other woman is EB Babe Mergene Maranan, Jose denied that a third party led to the break-up of his marriage to Anna Lyn.
“Ah wala. Namimiss nila yung daddy nila, hindi naman mawawala yun. Darating yung time na maiintindihan rin nilang lahat,” he adds.

Heart and Daniel call it quits
Heart Evangelista and Brazilian-Japanese model-actor Daniel Matsunaga have ended their almost two-year relationship.
This, Heart’s mother, Cecille Ongpauco confirmed in a phone conversation with Yahoo! Philippines OMG! on Saturday, April 14, the same day the Kapuso actress tweeted, “Being single is embracing growth,” which she followed up with, “breakups don't always mean the other one was bad or we didn't love each other it could just be… we were too different.”
“Yes, she’s single. But I’d rather Heart not talk to media about it. It’s a private matter,” Mrs. Ongpauco said.
Daniel, who tweeted almost at the same time as Heart did on Saturday afternoon, said, “just asking God ....why? i tried.” His message bore a sad face icon.
He added, “cant be happy at this moment guys...God bless u all...thanks for the words....i am sure u all know what is happening....:(”
Daniel also said he intended to stay offline for a while. “I am going to be away of the internet for a few days...sorry for that...hope u guys understand....God bless u all,” he wrote.
Heart and Daniel were first rumored to have broken up late last year when they were not seen together in some events. They explained that they were just busy with their own careers. Daniel also went to Brazil last March for an operation on his nose to help him breathe better.

Phil Younghusband has become even more vocal about his feelings for Angel Locsin, even if the latter declared that she’s not yet ready to marry the Philippine National Football team forward.
“Right now, we’re taking it one step at a time. We’re not trying to rush anything. And we’re very happy. When the time comes, we’ll see what happens. And as I’ve said before, I want a future with Angel and that’s still the way I feel, and I hope I do have a future with her,” he shared in an interview at the launch of Snickers’ “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” campaign at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall last Friday, April 13.

Angel was named Best Actress in this year’s Star Awards for movies for “In the Name of Love,” while Phil brought home the top scorer trophy from the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup in Kathmandu, Nepal where the National Football Team also placed third—a first for the country.
‘We’re lucky, we’re very blessed. So I think we’re good for each other,” he adds.

Angeline on Erik: Are people getting the right message?
After a photo of Angeline Quinto and Erik Santos holding hands In Hawaii during the Star Magic US Tour spread online, rumors started spreading that the two are now more than friends.
But Angeline has denied that she and Erik are an item, insisting that they are just close friends.
"Hindi naman po totoo iyon (na kami). Madalas lang kaming sweet talaga ni Erik kasi kami ang madalas na magka-bonding sa ‘ASAP’," Angeline said at the press conference of her second album launch, “Fall In Love,” on Thursday, April 12.
Angeline said it is Erik’s nature to be sweet, and other people might have misunderstood this.
"Yung sa Hawaii po kasi magkasama din kami ni Erik doon at madalas din kaming ganoon. Sweet din po kasi si Erik, so ang akala ng iba eh kami na. Pero hindi naman po," she said.
The singer-actress also admitted she is willing to welcome Erik if he decides to court her since he has the qualities of her ideal man.
"Well, kung manligaw siya, okay naman. Idol ko din po si Erik and mabait po. Kung tatanungin ako kung ano ang hinahanap ng babae sa isang lalake, na kay Erik naman,” Angeline said.
No malice
“Kahit dito po sa ‘ASAP,’ wala namang malisya. Doon pa lang po sa ‘Star Power,’ close na kami doon,” she added.
After her US tour with other Star Magic artists, Angeline is back in the country for her second album, “Fall In Love” under Star Records, with the latest single, “Bakit Ba Minamahal Kita.”
Aside from promoting her new album, Angeline is working on the final stages of her movie with Coco Martin, “You Light Up My Life.”
Angeline shared that she gets to have her first kissing scene with Coco, her crush.
“First kissing scene ko po siya. Feeling ko sinasadya niyang maraming takes. Kaming dalawa talagang sinasadya namin,” Angeline said in jest.
Angeline is happy Coco helped her with her acting, which she is now enjoys doing.
“Masaya po. Noong una kinakabahan ako kasi wala naman talaga akong alam sa pag-arte pero habang tumatagal naman po talagang tinutulungan ako ni Coco at saka ng direktor namin. Kaya noong huli medyo nage-enjoy na po ako," she said.
Understanding Jessica and Cheesa
Angeline also expressed her support for Filipino-Am singers Jessica Sanchez and Cheesa Laureta, contestants in “American Idol” and “The Voice,” respectively. As a product of a singing competition herself, Angeline understands their passion in fulfilling their dreams as a singer.
“Kakaiba naman po talaga ang galing ng Pinoy. Bawat tao naman po talaga ay may kanya-kanyang pangarap. Basta gawin lang natin ang makakaya natin, ang best natin para doon sa pangarap na iyon at wala naman talagang imposible,” Angeline said.

Kathryn not competing with Julia
Both of them are on primetime TV. But “Princess and I” lead actress Kathryn Bernardo said she is not competing with friend and former “Mara Clara” co-star Julia Montes.
“Very light yung story namin, sa kanila naman is super bigat. Magkaiba siya, so feeling ko hindi naman siya magkakumpetensya,” Kathryn said at the press conference of “Princess and I” on Wednesday, April 11 at the ABS-CBN compound.
Kathryn admitted she and Julia are taking different career paths. Kathryn is playing teenybopper roles, while Julia is into more mature characters. But they don’t let competition issues mar their friendship.
“Aminin natin na magkaiba na yung career path namin. Hindi naman namin iyon tini-take ng masama. Sa amin naman, walang issue iyon. Happy lang kami kung ano yung ibigay sa aming project,” Kathryn said.
Open to mature roles
She is also open to playing a mature role someday and going back to heavy drama.
“Sa akin naman, hindi naman forever na gagawin ko yung mga teenybopper (roles). Gusto ko rin syempre na bumalik sa drama, yung medyo mabibigat sa scenes. Kung gugustuhin, kakayanin naman po,” Kathryn added.
For now, she wants to play characters that are more or less her age.
“Physically, very nene pa ako. Feeling ko hindi pa rin magwo-work. Ita-try ko rin po siguro pero hindi ko pa alam kung kalian babagay sa akin. Kaya feeling ko po binigay iyon kay Julia kasi very fit kay Julia. Deserving naman siya, ang ganda ng storya,” Kathryn relates.
Kathryn shared her excitement in playing a light, fun role in “Princess and I,” where she is cast as a princess.
“Yung character ni Mikay, very positive siya.Yung pagkakaroon ng light na role, ito rin yung magba-balance sa primetime kasi super bigat sa primetime, medyo makakahinga sila ng konti. Kahit after ng project na ito, pwede naman po akong bumalik sa serious roles kung gusto nila. Pero this time, dito muna ako sa mga teenybopper roles,” Kathryn said.
Asked who of her leading men in the series—Enrique Gil, Daniel Padilla and Khalil Ramos—she is closest to, Kathryn replied that she is chummy with all of them.
Leading men
“Sa ngayon parang barkada kami. Nakapag-bond kasi kami ni Enrique sa Bhutan, si DJ naman sa ‘Growing Up,’ and kay Khalil naman noong taping namin sa first week,” she said.
How well does she know her leading men?
“Si DJ, little Robin Padilla. Kung ano yung pinapakita niya ngayon, very totoo. Si Enrique, makikita mo talaga yung passion niya sa work niya. Siya yung isa sa mapapa-wow ka sa mga eksena. Si Khlail, willing sya matuto kung ano dapat,” Kathryn revealed.
Daniel is the most vocal in expressing his interest in Kathryn. And she feels flattered.
“Nakaka-flatter kasi may ibang humahanga sa akin na hindi lang yung family ko. May ibang taong umi-effort sa akin. So, thankful ako kasi sincere naman siya,” Kathryn observed.
Would she allow any of her leading men to court her?
“Open naman ako kung sino man ang manligaw sa kanila, basta legal,” Kathryn replied.
But for now, Kathryn is not yet open to having a relationship and can only offer friendship.
“Hindi pa (ako ready for a relationship). Open magpaligaw, pero wala munang relationship. Friendship muna,” Kathryn said.
