Marian Rivera In Her Sexiest Pictorial Ever At Balesin Island (4 Photos)

MARIAN RIVERA is once again the cover girl of FHM for its March issue, which is also their 14th anniversary special issue. She was last featured in January last year that was all sold out as the magazine’s best selling issue. Her autograph signing session for that one took several hours as so many people lined up to have their copy of the magazine signed by her.

Her new pictorial was shot at the beautiful Balesin Island, where she spent Valentine’s Day with Dingdong Dantes. Marian says it’s her most daring pictorial so far. “I’m really honored to be invited by FHM to be their cover of their 14th anniversary issue,” she says. “Everything is really sweeter the second time around. Pero huli ko na sigurong sexy pictorial ito for a long long time. After this, ayoko muna.”

Will the March 2014 issue duplicate the success of the January 2013 issue? We’ll see. Meantime, Marian is elated that “Carmela” continues to get great feedback from its loyal viewers. This week, Marian as Catarina/Carmela and Alden Richards as Yago finally meet again at the municipal office where she works as assistant to Roi Vinzon as Fernando. She reveals the truth to Alden that she is there to take revenge on his grandfather, Roi, who caused so much misfortune to her and her mother Agot Isidro as Amanda. Alden, in turn, has already found out the truth that Krystal Reyes as Janine is not just as an “ampon” but the real daughter of Roi, making his Lola Fides (Laurice Guillen) very very mad at Roi.

Who Will Win In The Acting Categories Of The Oscar Awards Tonight: Here's Our Prediction

THE OSCAR AWARDS will be held tonight, March 3 in the U.S., with airing tomorrow morning in Manila. Those who are fans of Hollywood films are debating on who’s gonna win as best actor: Leonardo de Caprio in “Wolf of Wall St.” or Matthew McConaughey in “Dallas Buyers Club”. In terms of having paid his dues, Leonardo, 39, undoubtedly has the edge as he’s been nominated thrice before, as best supporting actor for “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” and as best actor for “The Aviator” and “Blood Diamond”. And no doubt he’s great as stockbroker Jordan Belfort in “Wolf”. But academy voters sadly don’t really seem to like him very much, as he’s been ignored for his other worthy performances, like in “Titanic” (but Kate Winslet was nominated), “The Departed”, “J. Edgar” and “Dj ango Unchained”.

As for Matthew, 44, this is just his first nomination but most critics agree he nailed his role as hustler and AIDS patient Ron Woodruff perfectly, even losing so much weight to look emaciated like the real life character he plays. He transcends the role and his is the more attention-getting performance, so we won’t be surprised if academy voters would think that he’ll be the one more deserving to win. Aside from this, he also gives a very arresting performance in just three scenes as Leonardo’s mentor in “Wolf of Wall St.”

For best actress, Cate Blanchett would be hard to beat as the Blanche Dubois character in “Blue Jasmine”. That Oscar-worthy final scene where she talks to herself while seated on a park bench, after losing all her marbles, shows the kind of mesmerizing acting that can be used as a model for future generations of actresses. This is also to compensate for her losing the Oscar in 1998 for “Elizabeth”, where her tour-de-force title-role performance is definitely much more stunning than the one to whom the Oscar was given to that year.

As best supporting actor, it’s also a lock for Jared Leto as the doomed transvestite Rayon in “Dallas Buyers Club”. Nobody else comes close. For best supporting actress, our personal choice is Jennifer Lawrence as the loose cannon of a wife in “American Hustle”. But we won’t be surprised if newcomer Lupita Nyong’o would win as the oppressed slave in “12 Years a Slave” as the Kenyan-Mexican actress seem to be getting a lot of sympathy votes (well, she suffered from a lot of beatings in the film) and Jennifer, after all, has just won as best actress last year.

For best director, no doubt the honor will be given to Alfonso Cuaron for the technical marvel that is “Gravity”. But for the best picture award, our personal choice is David Russell’s “American Hustle”, truly a wonderful piece of filmmaking as a comedy-drama-crime-caper film rolled into one, based on the real life Abscam scandal in the 70s that sent some politicians to jail. The characters are all flawed, just like the rest of us in real life, and they’re all portrayed with so much energy by the actors who play them.

But then again, we won’t be surprised if the best film prize is handed to British director Steve McQueen’s “12 Years a Slave”, the adaptation of the 1853 memoir of Solomon Northup, a freeman who was sold to slavery. It’s one of the most acclaimed films last year and has the more noble subject matter concerning slavery that ignited the American Civil War.

Confessions of a Torpe - Cast and Character Descriptions

Confessions of a Torpe - Cast and Character Descriptions

On Monday, March 3 at 7:30PM, TV5 premieres its funniest and most romantic primetime series yet entitled "Confessions of a Torpe".
The series follows the story of Christopher “Tupe” Matacutin (played by Ogie Alcasid), a 40 year old certified torpe (and virgin) who becomes a victim of a family curse. Because of theirkatorpehan, all men in Tupe’s family remain a bachelor. The same goes for Tupe who, despite being the perfect gentleman, cannot make his move to win the heart of his muse: the gorgeous, God’s gift to mankind, Monique Salcedo (Alice Dixson).

Hoping to “break the curse” like him is his nephew from Croatia, Hanley Kubrick (Mark Neumann). Despite spending most of his teenage years in the abroad, he is very shy around girls. And while Hanley stays here in the country, Tupe must help him overcome his katorpehan so that both of them can break away from their curse.

Stakes get higher as Tupe’s love-of-his-life, Monique, returns to the Philippines to try her luck on something she has never been successful before – love. While this gives Tupe another shot at romance, things will not be easier as his number one bully, Peter ‘Mr. Big’ Malaqui (Wendell Ramos), also returns to terrorize him once again. Fortunately, Tupe finds comfort in Luzvinda ‘Luz’ Mabuti (Gelli de Belen), his best friend and forever confidante who also secretly has feelings for him.

Will Tupe win Monique’s heart? Is he the long overdue romance destined for Monique? And what about Luz? Will she ever be able to confess her feelings for Tupe? Who will end up victorious in this comic story of failed attempts on love and romance? Get to know the characters of “Confessions of a Torpe” below:

Monique Salcedo (Alice Dixson)

Cristine Reyes On Rumor About Her Reconciling With An Ex-Boyfriend (2 Phoyos)

ABS-CBN’S HIT advocaserye, “Honesto”, is ending on March 14 and they had a farewell presscon with stars Cristine Reyes, Paulo Avelino and Raikko Mateo attending. Why are they ending it soon and didn’t extend it like their previous inspirational show, “May Bukas Pa”, which ran for almost a year in 2009?

“Wala na pong extension kasi ang daming nakalinyang bagong teleseryes na nagte-taping na and we have to accommodate them,” says Dreamscape Entertainment exec Biboy Arboleda. “Since it started airing in October 2013, ‘Honesto’ has won the hearts of viewers with its timely story on honesty and truthfulness. It also introduced our newest child wonder Raikko who quickly captured the hearts of viewers, along with the love team of Diego and Marie, played by Paulo and Cristine. Pero kahit na nga mataas talaga ang rating ng ‘Honesto’, kailangang magbigay na ito ng puwang to the new shows that are coming in. Si Raikko will do fives episodes of ‘Wansapanataym’ then he’ll be given a new teleserye.”

In “Honesto’s” last 10 episodes, you’ll see how far Diego, Marie, and Honesto will go to stand up for the truth. Will they be able to erase the anger and selfishness in Hugo’s (Joel Torre) heart and finally fix their broken family? Find out in the show’s closing weeks.

Meantime, Cristine Reyes says she really enjoyed being part of “Honesto”. “Kahit late pumasok yung character ko sa show, I’m proud na nakasama ako rito kasi number one kami,” she says.

Has it influenced her to be more honest? “Dati na naman akong honest and straightforward. Mas okay talaga to tell the truth at mas comfortable, kasi di mo na kailangang mag-imbento ng isasagot.”

So is it true she has reconciled with one of her ex-BF’s, said to be either Rayver Cruz or Derek Ramsay? “No, it’s not true. Hindi ako nakikipagbalikan kahit kanino. Kahit kami nag-break, friends ko pa rin naman ang mga ex ko. Right now, I’m single. Mas gusto ko muna maging single for about two years para mag-focus sa work ko. Sana nga, mapanindigan ko yan.”

What’s her next soap after “Honesto”? “Rest muna ko sa soap. Kasi, katatapos ko lang sa ‘Bukas na Lang Kita Mamahalin” nang ipasok ako rito sa ‘Honesto’. I’m doing two movies muna. Isang drama, ‘My Trophy Wife’, with Derek and Heart Evangelista, at isang comedy, ‘The Gifted’, with Anne Curtis and Sam Milby.”

Has she ever been a victim of dishonesty? “Yes, kasi lumaki ako sa mga taong akala ko, parents ko, pero hindi pala. But eventually, nalaman ko rin ang totoo. That’s why my sister Ara (Mina) and I didn’t grow up together.”

While watching Cristine and Paulo at the presscon of “Honesto”, some writers can’t help but recall that they’re both products of GMA-7’s Starstruck search. But both of them felt they were not given the big breaks they deserve so they moved to ABS-CBN. Now, they’re even bigger stars than the winners in the Starstruck batches where they competed.

Don’t miss the much-awaited finale of “Honesto” on March 14 on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida. For exclusive updates, pictures, and videos, log on to “Honesto’s” official social media accounts Facebook.com/Honesto.TV and Twitter.com/Honesto_TV.
