March 25, 2015 is the saddest day for every true Directioner out there, the day Zayn Malik officially left One Direction
About 8 hours ago as I blog this, an official announcement about Zayn Malik leaving One Direction has been posted in the band's official Facebook Page, and the reason cited there was that Zayn wants to relax and have some private time away from the spotlight. Now I understand why fans are attacking Zayn Malik's fiancée Perrie Edwards now.
The statement says:
"After five incredible years Zayn Malik has decided to leave One Direction. Niall, Harry, Liam and Louis will continue as a four-piece and look forward to the forthcoming concerts of their world tour and recording their fifth album, due to be released later this year.
Zayn says: "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world."
One Direction say: "We're really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally respect his decision and send him all our love for the future. The past five years have been beyond amazing, we've gone through so much together, so we will always be friends. The four of us will now continue. We're looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour."
Simon Cowell says: "I would like to say thank you to Zayn for everything he has done for One Direction. Since I first met Zayn in 2010, I have grown very, very fond - and immensely proud - of him. I have seen him grow in confidence and I am truly sorry to see him leave. As for One Direction, fans can rest assured that Niall, Liam, Harry and Louis are hugely excited about the future of the band."
While that basically is just a confirmation of a week-old rumor, it's enough to break the hearts of One Direction fans, most especially those who have been with them for almost 5 years now, since they were formed as a group in the X Factor UK Season 7. Left to continue their music were Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, but of course, One Direction will never be the same now that it no longer has Zayn Malik, who I think the most good-looking members of the group, and someone who can belt out the perfect high notes.
Anyway, this news about Zayn Malik leaving One Direction is not that surprising to us here in the Philippines, especially after he no longer took part in the Manila tour and after seeing the picture of
the 4 wherein Liam Payne was covering Zayn Malik's face.
It looked kinda "rude", but in a way, it was a bold statement, a hint that Zayn is no longer part of the group.
Now there are questions I'm leaving to you: Will this UK boy band still continue to enjoy immense popularity around the world now that Zayn Malik has left? Should he be replaced?

Zayn Malik leaves One Direction

One Direction has officially announced on Facebook that Zayn Malik is already leaving the boy band.

Zayn was not seen in One Direction's recent Manila concert. He was reportedly sick at that time and had to fly back home.

On Thursday, the announcement about the 22-year-old performer leaving the group has been announced.

According to the Facebook post, Zayn feels like "it is now the right time for me to leave the band."

"I'd like to apologise to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart," he said.

Privacy also seems to play a major role in making the decision.

"I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight," he said.

He, however, knows that the other One Direction members - Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall - will be his "four friends for life" and that "they will continue to be the best band in the world."

This is a sad day for One Direction fans, especially for the fans of Zayn.

I know he said he wants to be "out of the spotlight," but here's wishing that it would just be for a while and that we'll see him perform again in the future, whether part of the band or solo.
