Jonalyn Viray Denies She’s The Reason Why La Diva Disbanded (2 Photos)

PINOY POP SUPERSTAR first winner Jonalyn Viray celebrates her 9th year in showbiz with a major solo concert, “Jonalyn: Fearless”, on Friday, February 28, 8pm at the Music Museum. Why is the title “Fearless”?

“Kasi magiging fearless ako sa pagkanta,” she says. “I’ll step out of my comfort zone and sing all the songs na before, I’m afraid to sing. Of course, I’ll also sing the songs na nagustuhan sa’kin ng tao, like ‘Close to Where You Are’ that’s composed by Danny Tan, the theme song of ‘Darna’ na ‘Di Na Nag-iisa’, the theme song of ‘My Husband’s Lover’ composed by Tata Betita na ‘Help Me Get Over You’, ‘Makita Kang Muli’ from the Koreanovela ‘Padam Padam’ and ‘Sa Piling Mo’ from the Mexicanovela ‘Lola’. But I can also apply the title to my life right now, kasi fearless na ako in facing all the challenges na dumarating sa buhay ko. Dati kasi, I get affected pag may nanlalait, like when I won na ang sabi, sino ba yan? Maliit na, ang itim pa. Masakit, pero dahil doon, natuto akong mag-ayos at magsalita with more self confid ence. Now, when I hear things like that, ini-ignore ko na lang. ”

Is she really the reason why her trio with Maricris Garcia and Aicelle Santos, La Diva, was disbanded? “That’s not true. It was a mutual decision with management. Kasi 5 years na rin kami together and we all want to grow individually as we all started naman as solo singers. Wala kaming samaan ng loob.”

How come she didn’t show up when GMA hosted a surprise birthday party for Aicelle two weeks ago whereas Maricris was there? “Simply because I wasn’t informed. Hindi ko talaga nabalitaan. Ni hindi ako na-text. Siguro rin, dahil may gigs ako noon sa abroad.”

Her guests in “Fearless” are Regine Velasquez, Kuh Ledesma and her “Pinoy Pop Superstar” colleague Brennan Espartinez. How come she didn’t invite Aicelle and Maricris to join her? “It’s the decision of the producer. Kasi nga naman, if I’m cultivating a solo career that will establish my individuality as a singer, dapat wala muna yung mga dating identified with me. But I will invite them to watch the concert and it’s up to them if they want to watch or not.”

Is she willing to go into theatre like Aicelle who’s getting great feedback as the lead in “Rak of Aegis”? “Actually, I was told to audition there and I did. I was then told that I qualified for the major role but nagkaproblema kasi kasama ako sa ‘My Husband’s Lover’ concert tour sa U.S. at matagal akong mawawala. So I begged off kasi baka hindi ko ma-fulfill ang rehearsal skeds nila. I hope they’ll still get me next time.”

“Fearless” is directed by Dennis Marasigan, who also helmed Jonalyn in the movie, “Cattleya: An OFW Story”, where she played the best friend of drug mule Glaiza de Castro to open in theaters on Wednesday. For tickets to “Fearless” produced by GMA Network and Creative Media Entertainment, with Soc Mina as musical director, get them at ticketworld.com.ph and Music Museum, tel. 721-6726.

Toni Gonzaga Frustrated with John Lloyd Cruz

Following weeks of adjusting to their new lives, Toni Gonzaga and John Lloyd Cruz’s characters on the hit sitcom “Home Sweetie Home” have reached the point of frustration, leading them to their first conflict as husband and wife in the upcoming episode set to air this Sunday (February 23).
The couple’s problems start over a petty problem that arises when Romeo (John Lloyd Cruz) reaches the house later than usual. Julie (Toni Gonzaga), who chooses to stay up and wait for him so that they can have dinner together, finds herself disappointed when she finds out that he had already eaten before coming home. Even Nanay Loi (Sandy Andolong) and Daddy V (Rico Puno) have something to say about the issue, creating a problem in the whole household.
With their families not at ease with each other, will a series of little problems be the reason Romeo and Julie’s relationship crumbles?

Zsa Zsa Padilla and Yael Yuzon React to Karylle - Vice Ganda Fued

The (non) issue between "It's Showtime" hosts Vice Ganda and Karylle, with Yael Yuzon - Karylle’s husband-to-be (as collateral damage?), has already gone out of control. With Vice talking non-stop about their so-called feud while Karylle remains to be calm and mum about the issue, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Yael Yuzon surfaced providing their thoughts on the issue.
On her Instagram account, the Divine Diva posted a Bible verse she thought fitted to what her daughter has been going through recently: “He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friend. – Proverbs 17:9.” She went on by posting, “I am troubled by all the news I have been hearing. And just like you, I turn to Jesus for answers. I went on line to look for a verse to give me some courage and this is what I found. Thank you Jesus. Your love overflows.”
Yael, on the other hand, has this message released for Vice, “I do not discriminate against gay people and I would never say anything na ganun.”
