Piolo Pascual Fans Bash Sharon Cuneta on Twitter?

Piolo Pascual Fans Bash Sharon Cuneta on Twitter?

Actress Sharon Cuneta suspects that her bashers on the microblogging site Twitter are die-hard fans of actor Piolo Pascual.

After a Twitter follower suggested to Cuneta that her bashers could be fans of Pascual, the actress replied that she agreed with the comment.

“Kung hindi Kapamilya die-hard, maka-Piolo lang. Wala namang galit sa amin na ibang tao,” Cuneta said in her reply to her follower “Miles Away.”

Over the weekend, Cuneta had been very busy replying to her bashers’ tirades against her and eldest daughter KC Concepcion, Pascual’s ex-girlfriend.

Aside from the negative comments about Concepcion’s controversial break-up with Pascual, Cuneta was apparently ticked off by accusations that she and her daughter are “abortionists.”

“Akusahan kayo ng anak mong abortionista tapos huwag ko patulan? Ano hahayaan ko pang ikalat nila? Sobra mga ‘yan. Mga bastos at walang modo. Dudumi ng bibig at pagkatao. Gawain siguro nila,” an obviously incensed Cuneta tweeted.

‘Attacks’ since last year

In an interview in the April issue YES magazine, Concepcion admitted that there have been “attacks” from Pascual’s camp since her controversial interview with “The Buzz” last November where she confirmed their breakup.

The magazine said it interviewed Concepcion in February.

Concepcion cited Twitter messages daring her to admit that she was only using Pascual and that she was being ungrateful to her ex-boyfriend.

“Parang sabi kasi, ‘Sa lahat ng ‘binibigay sa ‘yo, parang ganyan ang gagawin mo?’” she told YES.

“Ginawa? Wala akong ginagawa. Parang gusto kong sabihin, ‘Wala akong ginagawa sa inyo, okay? Nananahimik lang ako.’ Sabi ko nga, ‘Kung alam n’yo lang kasi talaga, maiintindihan n’yo kung ba’t kinakailangan kong gawin ‘yon.”

Concepcion also hinted that her camp are not about to take the attacks sitting down.

“My camp never starts fights. They don’t start but, you know, hindi rin naman sila magpapaapi,” she told the magazine.

‘Tell the real story’

In her series of tweets, however, Cuneta appeared to be nearing her breaking point.

“Since you won't stop bashing me and my daughter and it's all the same to you -- maybe it's time I talk and tell the whole REAL story. Okay? Tutal pareho lang eh. Tahimik kami bash kayo ng bash. Eh di kami naman kaya!" she said, obviously addressing Pascual’s fans.

“KC never did anything to hurt him. He hurt her. And yes, we KNOW his fans are bashing her. We never start, we just react. Be careful. Nananahimik pa kami sa lagay na yan. Tama na kasi we should all just move on,” she said in another tweet.

In another tweet, referring to Pascual, Cuneta said: “He can't say anything about KC [because] he has nothing he can say. He's a ‘gentleman’ for his image, not necessarily [because] he doesn't want to hurt anybody. Let's be honest and fair here. If no one bashes us, we couldn't care less about his life [because] we've moved on. Kawawa naman ang anak ko. ‘Di nga nagsasalita si Piolo, but his army of bashers do all the dirty work for him. We're not bad people. But neither are we stupid."

An obviously exasperated Cuneta said she’s taking a break from Twitter.

In her last tweet on March 19, she said: “Kahit ano pa ang sabihin nilang mga masasama, pag namatay ako bukas, at least mamamatay akong alam kong may mga natulungan ako at nabagong buhay ng ni walang nakakaalam kung sino o gaano katagal na o ano man yun. Sila? Wala pang nagagawa sa sarili sa kapwa pa? Tapos bababuyin kami ng anak ko ng para kaming walang kwentang mga tao? Maawa naman sila sa amin.

“And I'm sorry. Hindi ako PLASTIC. Pag masaya ako masaya ako. Pag sinabi kong mahal ko mahal ko. Pag ayaw ko ayaw ko. At pag galit ako galit ako.

“Isang iyak lang ito. Hintayin nyo pagbawi ng strength ko at ganyan ako ever since. I love you Sharonians. Maraming salamat sa inyo,” she said.

Kiko’s defense

On Tuesday night, Cuneta’s husband, Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, tweeted that his wife is okay.

“She will be fine. Underneath all that, she is one tough woman. Thanks for your concern,” Pangilinan told a follower.

The senator also gave his opinion on the issue of bashing on social media.

“Bashers have nothing better to do with their unaccomplished, meaningless lives. Best to ignore them. Ignoring them affirms their insignificance,” he said.

“What matters is the truth and not the lies from those who have nothing else better to do with their unaccomplished lives,” he added.

Robin Padilla Meets Detained Human Rights Defender Temogen “Cocoy” Tulawie

Robin Padilla Meets Detained Human Rights Defender Temogen “Cocoy” Tulawie

Robin Padilla visited Tuesday afternoon detained human rights defender Temogen “Cocoy” Tulawie of Sulu to express his support for his “best friend sa advocacy ng kapayapaan” who, he asserted, could not have done what Sulu Governor Sakur Tan had accused him of doing.

The 41-year old Tulawie, whom Padilla also described as “Pag-asa ng Sulu” (Hope of Sulu), is facing charges of multiple frustrated murder and multiple attempted murder for the May 13, 2009 bombing in Patikul, Sulu that injured 12 persons including the governor, an allegation he has repeatedly denied.

Citing threats to his life, Tulawie petitioned the Supreme Court for a transfer of venue of the hearings from the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 3 in Jolo, Sulu to Davao City. The high court granted the petition in June but the Sulu court took so long in forwarding the records to the Executive Judge of the RTC here.

Tulawie was arrested here late evening of January 13 but no raffling of the case could be done by the RTCH in the absence of the court records from Sulu. The records finally arrived last week and the case is now under Judge Virginia Europa of RTC Branch 11.

Citing security considerations, Tulawie’s lawyers filed a motion in court Tuesday to commit him to the detention cell at the Investigation and Detective Management Branch at Camp Domingo Leonor where he has been detained since his arrest, instead of the city jail in Ma-a.

Governor Tan on January 25 petitioned the Supreme Court for a change in venue of the trial from Davao City to Manila. He said he considers Davao City “hostile ground,” claiming Tulawie wields influence in the city.

Tulawie alleged Tan’s petition for change of venue was part of the governor’s “delaying tactics.”

“You don’t belong here”

Wearing tactical shades, white denim jeans and a white polo shirt on whose left pocket were printed the words “Goodwill Ambassador for Peace” of the GOP-UN Act for Peace program, Padilla arrived at the DCPO at around 1:25 p.m., paid a courtesy call on the city police director before proceeding to the cell where Tulawie and six others are detained, shook Tulawie’s hand between the iron bars and said, “Hindi ka bagay dito, ‘tol” (You don’t belong here, brother).

Pointing to the pocket on his shirt, he told Tulawie in Pilipino: “I deliberately used this shirt because I would not be an Ambassador of Peace without your help.”

“Answered prayer,” Tulawie said of the support he has received not only from Padilla but from various individuals and groups around the country and the world.

Padilla, a devout Muslim, smiled as soon as he saw Sister Arnold Maria Noel, who also came to visit Tulawie. Padilla met the nun in Manila last Friday when he hosted an informal forum with the media and Manila-based civil society representatives on the Tulawie case at the Arya Persian Restaurant in Greenhills, San Juan, attended also by Commission on Human Rights chair Etta Rosales.

There, he said Cocoy is a good man and explained in Pilipino that “I believe many deserve to be jailed in this country but I am certain that Cocoy is not one of them.”

“He is the face of change,” he said.

“Chilling effect”

Sister Arnold told reporters that Tulawie did not deserve to be jailed because he was “simply exposing the truth” about the graft and corruption and human rights violations in Sulu. She said his arrest sends a “chilling effect” to the whole nation.

Padilla was informed Tulawie would be temporarily transferred to the Investigation Division office nearby so they could properly talk. Before proceeding there, he shared with reporters how he became friends with Tulawie, how he and his children would stay in Tulawie’s house in Sulu as Tulawie and his children would also stay in his house in Fairview, Quezon City.

He said Tulawie could contribute much in the ongoing reforms in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

After the interview, Padilla entered the Investigation Division office where he spent the next hour talking with Tulawie, his wife Musa and sons Iman, 17 and Amir, 13, interrupted only by requests by police personnel for souvenir photos.

“Hold your head up high”

To Amir, he said, “maraming tatay dyan na walang ipinaglalaban. Itong tatay mo may pinaglalaban. Itaas mo noo mo,” (there are many fathers out there who are not fighting for a cause. Your father is fighting for a cause. Hold your head up high).

Padilla said that if it’s possible for Tulawie to be placed under house arrest, he would serve as guarantor.

He said he has nothing against Governor Tan, and that in fact his wedding godfather is Nabil Tan, the governor’s brother. Pinaglumaan na ng panahon yan eh…(my message to our beloved brother is I do not believe Cocoy could do what you accused him of doing. He’s my partner… We believe in peaceful revolution. We do not believe in a revolution that kills people. That’s passé).

He said a real Muslim “fights for his rights and the rights of other people but not to the point of killing a person where dialogue is still possible.”

Reacting to Padilla’s message, Tan told MindaNews: “why should I listen to him? What does he know? Who are his friends?”

At around 2:50 p.m., Padilla escorted Tulawie back to his cell, even entering it to shake the hands of his friend’s cellmates. He posed for souvenir photos and, recalling his four year- imprisonment for illegal possession of firearms in the 1990s, conversed with them about life in jail.

Sharon Cuneta and Helen Gamboa Feud Spark Anew

Sharon Cuneta and Helen Gamboa Feud Spark Anew

Sharon Cuneta and her Aunt Helen Gamboa's years of non-speaking terms is now getting worst and out of control.

It will be remembered that Sharon publicly expressed her disappointed over Helen's husband Senator Vicente 'Tito' Sotto's decision in not supporting Sharon's husband Senator Francis 'Kiko' Pangilinan's bid for the Senate presidency years ago.

But what others believed to be a feud already settled years back is now again making its share of limelight that might forever ruin their family ties and left this known clan in showbiz and politics a painful scar.

How did it all started again?

Sharon, in a recent newspaper interview, brought up her "grudge" against Tito for not supporting her spouse in his bid for the Senate presidency years ago. An interview that hurts Helen so she answered back.

Read the transcripts of their interviews below:

Sharon Cuneta's interview with Wilson Lee Flores published in Philippine Star on March 11, 2012:

If you’ve studied the book by the great leader Marcus Aurelius, you’re super smart, and with your political background from your late dad Pasay City Mayor Pablo Cuneta, next for you is to run for public office?

Hindi ako puwede sa politics (I’m cannot be in politics), the Filipino people may love me, but they won’t obey me. I am too frank for politics, also I have many non-conventional ideas and questions. Look at just the age-old war in Mindanao, I’ve asked my husband Kiko about the problems there. I’m frustrated with the crisis there. Do you know how naturally rich the region of Mindanao is? There’s so much economic potential there. The Visayas region is all right, but I’m very concerned about Mindanao’s socio-economic and other problems. I asked Kiko, how can there be real economic development if there are endless wars and conflicts? How can kids grow up to have a good future if their families keep on evacuating? How can we ordinary persons with good intentions help to solve the complex problems there, with their holding guns?
Richard Gomez

Maybe you can be the next Vilma Santos?

Ate Vi, she is really a very good example of a successful political leader. Her accomplishments help give a better image to us artistas (entertainers).

Why not run in Pasay, your late dad’s bailiwick?

You know, I visited Pasay in November 2012 to look at my mom’s building. First, I passed by the City Hall (laughs), it was colorful, it had Mayor Peewee’s colors… Pasay, a lot of it was malinis naman (somehow clean)…They can fix more things in that city, if they want to really fix it…

You don’t see a future for yourself in politics, maybe in the future?

Hanggang mamatay ako (Up to the day that I die), I can never ever… Kahit isang piso, hindi ko kayang nakawin (Even one peso, I could not steal). You know, tanga lang ako sa love, kaya magaling ako sa lahat (I’m only a fool in love, so I have excelled in all other things) and I try to over-achieve.

I think I’m not meant for politics, it is often so cynical, there’s corruption… I don’t know what my late father did, but my father had his business and as a child I remember going to my dad’s various real estate businesses, Ate Vi in Batangas she has a good teacher in her husband in handling politics, but I just personally don’t have the stomach for politics. Maybe in the United States puwede pa (probably it’s possible there) [laughs]. Politics I leave to my husband Kiko, because I don’t like the dishonesty, the betrayals in politics…

If not Pasay, maybe run for senator since you’re smarter than many of our politicos?

Kung senador, kailangan kasing talino na ako ni Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago (If senator, I need to be as smart as Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago)… Oh my god, I really wish I’m as quick-witted and an intellectual as she is, and I need to read and study as much as she does so that maybe I can become even just one percent of her intelligence!

Perhaps mayor or governor of a province?

If ever I had married my ex before, I could have run for a local position in the province like Negros, but it wouldn’t be for any personal reasons, it would be to serve the local community.

Why not run for mayor of Santa Rosa in Laguna, where you have a home?

Hay, huwag doon, may patayan yata sa pulitika diyan? Sa Visayas na lang ako (Hay, not there, I heard there were killings in the politics there? I prefer the Visayas)! Politics, it’s funny everybody wants me to run, except me!

You say you cannot stomach topsy-turvy politics, but isn’t it just like showbiz?

There’s a difference. In politics, it’s ungrateful, dirty and you even get death threats, but in showbiz, it’s only ungrateful but there’s no patayan (no killings). Showbiz is not half as dirty as politics, we don’t kill each other. And in my work in showbiz, I believe I can also affect the lives of many people, especially through television. In showbiz, even starlets have some influence, not just the politicos. We can also make a positive difference.

If not a politician, maybe as First Lady to your husband Kiko, if he someday runs for President?

Good luck to her! (laughs)

To her? Who?

Ay, iyan ang sagot ko (Ay, that’s my answer), that’s my joke, whenever people ask about Kiko running for President, good luck sa First Lady niya (good luck to his First Lady)! (laughs) Seriously, on political plans for the future, Kiko has said and I support him: “We go where God takes us.” I’m not saying BS to you, that’s really how we feel about the political future. Kiko just sincerely wants to do a good job in public service and I wholeheartedly support him.

Is Kiko running for senator again next year, or for another position?

No, it’s his last term as senator. He’s not running.

Kiko is with the Liberal Party, has he patched up already with Korina Sanchez, wife of Liberal chairman Mar Roxas?

Matagal na (Since a long time ago).

Any other government post you’re open to consider, someday?

Maybe as ambassador to a foreign country, hopefully France or Thailand, because I’m tactful, diligent, I like to host… I want to help improve the international image of the Philippines.

Going back to the idea of First Lady, just even hypothetically if you had the chance to be such, who’d be your role models?

If I were a First Lady, I’d be a combination of Jackie O (Kennedy Onassis) and Barbara Bush! But I also like Eleanor Roosevelt… Hillary Clinton, I adore her, but I don’t want to be like her, and I’m also not a lawyer like she is.

Why Jackie and Barbara Bush?

It’s a funny combination, isn’t it? I’d like to have some style and glamour at home like Jackie, also some propriety like Barbara Bush. I want to improve the style, prestige and image of the Philippines like the way Jackie did for the US Like Bush, I will be proper and quietly supportive of my husband. I will not give my opinion, which, by the way, is highly regarded by my husband Kiko, if it is not sought. I’d like to be like the dignified and proper Barbara Bush, a supportive and dependable wife. As First Lady, I’d just entertain, read and fall asleep!

If your husband will not run for president in 2016, who then will you support?

Who’s running ba?

For sure Vice-President Jojo Binay is running. I heard Secretary Mar Roxas wants to run, maybe Erap’s son Senator Jinggoy or Lakas party’s Senator Bong Revilla, maybe a dark horse is Senator Bongbong Marcos… Who are you inclined to support?

This time, I will support the person who is in my heart. In the election before, my husband Kiko was with the administration, but the late Fernando Poe, Jr. was the person in my heart whom I really wanted to support. We were very close, he was a very good friend. I’m only thankful that I had talked to him during the election campaign. He was in the car when he called me, and his assistant Susan Tagle was there as witness. He used to call me by the nickname “Klatput.”

He said to me after I explained my need to support my husband’s political position, his exact words to me were: “Klatput, this is only politics, after this we’ll still be good friends.” The ending was “I love you.” I was pregnant then. Later on, I gave birth to Miel in September, and then he died in December.

So you admired the late FPJ, and it hurt you that you couldn’t support him then?

Mahal ko siya (I love him). We were really close. Sometimes he would even come to my house at 4 a.m. just to chat. Once I was taping at ABS-CBN, tumawag si FPJ at papasundo pa niya ako (FPJ called and he had me fetched), I thought it was something important, gusto lang pala niya ipagmalaki sa owner ng sari-sari store sa tabi ng kalsada na kaya niyang papuntahin si Sharon Cuneta (it turned out, he just wanted to prove to a streetside knick-knack store owner that he could have Sharon Cuneta go there).

We were so close. FPJ was even the godfather of my daughter KC. In fact, ka tong-its niya si KC (he used to play the card game tong-its with KC) and he would then say: “Tinatalo na niya ninong niya! (“She’s already beating her godfather!)” KC was only nine years old then… And Wilson, you know what really breaks my heart is I don’t get to talk to Tita Susan (Roces) anymore.

You can do it the way the Democrat Maria Shriver and her ex-husband the Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger did before, vote independently of each other?

Yes, that’s a good example. I remember a TV interview of Schwarzenegger asking about their different politics before, and he answered that yes he’s a Republican and his wife’s a Democrat, and he jokingly added: “Well, you know, nobody’s perfect.” [laughs]

When you say politics divides people, were you referring also to your uncle Senator Tito Sotto’s past rift with your husband Kiko?

Yes, politics does divide families, like when my uncle says something bad about Kiko, you don’t understand why….

Meet the Avengers: The Essential Iron Man

Meet the Avengers: The Essential Iron Man

On the outside, Tony Stark is a genius playboy philanthropist and inventor; but inside he’s a complicated man with a broken heart. The story of Iron Man, the Armored Avenger, stands as a triumph of human ingenuity and invention, yet also one of personal tragedy and tribulation.

The figure of Iron Man represents power and authority to the people of the world, but if they knew the full story behind the man in the armor, they might also learn from both Tony Stark’s mistakes and his lessons in humility and responsibility.

Marvel has compiled that story for you here, the tale of one of the most powerful Avengers and the man who created the legacy of Iron Man.

IT BEGINS WITH A HEARTBREAK

Anthony Stark, heir to his family fortune and an industrialist inventor, found himself wounded and alone on an Asian battlefield while testing weapons he’d created for the United States government. A piece of shrapnel became lodged near his heart, forcing Stark to craft an amazing set of armor to not only lend him the power to escape his predicament, but also save his very life. With the help of a fellow captive, an award-winning physicist, Tony Stark built the very first Iron Man suit and went on to play the hero once he returned home.

As Iron Man, he put his genius and talent to use fighting for justice and the common man, but his weakened heart limited his ability to live life to the fullest. Surrounding himself with good people as his personal staff, Stark continued to promote himself as a playboy and man-about-town, while fighting evil as his own “bodyguard,” the Invincible Iron Man.

ASSEMBLING WITH THE AVENGERS

Eventually, Stark came into contact with other heroes and formed a team to combat menaces to the planet that no one of them could handle alone. When the evil trickster god Loki sought revenge on his half-brother Thor, his plan backfired when Earth’s Mightiest Heroes came together to fight him as the Avengers.

Iron Man joined the Avengers for many adventures, facing such fantastic foes as Kang the Conqueror, the Sub-Mariner, the Mole Man and the Masters of Evil. During this time, Stark also continued to upgrade his Iron Man armor and forged a longstanding friendship with Steve Rogers, the man known as Captain America. Alas, the day came when Stark would leave the Avengers, but the team still loomed large in his future.

ADDICTION AND AN ARTIFICIAL HEART

Tony Stark also eventually received an artificial heart to replace his damaged organ, but the pressures on his life far exceeded his physical woes. A life of drinking socially led to a dependence on alcohol and a slow slide to the bottom of the bottle for the Armored Avenger. Stark’s alcoholism severely impacted his ability to work at both his job and at being Iron Man, leading him to give the armor to his trusted aide, Jim Rhodes, and seek help for his life-altering addiction.

BOUNCE BACK, SPRING FORWARD

Ever resilient and inventive, Stark conquered his addiction, regained his life and faced down the man who’d made his existence a living hell, Obadiah Stane. He also returned to the good fight as Iron Man and served with the West Coast Avengers for a time. Stark went on a crusade to reclaim his armor technology from many sources who had integrated his designs into their own suits of armor. Iron Man’s “Armor Wars” didn’t win him any fans throughout the world, though, and Tony Stark “fired” his armored bodyguard to allow him a freer hand to pursue his mission.

ARMOR ALIVE AND AVENGERS NO MORE

Having upgraded the Iron Man suit to the nth degree, the inventor witnessed the armor gaining sentience and experienced a new heart attack when he confronted his creation. Stark then decided to reveal his identity as Iron Man to the world and accepted a Presidential appointment to the cabinet post of Secretary of Defense. As if his world hadn’t then become even more complicated, Stark found himself caught up in the mentally-unbalanced Scarlet Witch’s manipulations that led to both his own public humiliation at the United Nations and the complete disintegration of the Avengers as a team.

DIVISION AND DISASTER

Though operating as Iron Man in secret for many years himself, Tony Stark proposed a “Superhuman Registration Act” after a tragic event involving super heroes took innocent lives in Connecticut. Many costumed champions declined to register and reveal their identities, so Stark led government-sanctioned heroes against the rebels--including his old friend and Avengers comrade Captain America. The super hero “civil war” ended in Stark’s favor, but victory came at a cost: the death of Steve Rogers, Captain America. Then, when an alien invasion further ripped apart Earth’s heroes, Iron Man’s standing as a champion disappeared and in his place as head of S.H.I.E.L.D. stood Norman Osborn, a supposedly-former villain.

ON THE RUN

Hunted by Norman Osborn and literally losing his mind, Tony Stark fled to the far corners of the globe, seeking to do as much damage as he could to Osborn’s infrastructure – but at the price of damaging his own brain. Ever a forward-thinker, Stark institutes a planned “backup copy” of his intellect and, after a long bout of healing, returns to duty as Iron Man to aid the Avengers in defeating Osborn during the lunatic despot’s siege of the mythic city of Asgard.

NEW HEROIC ARMORED AGE

Now, Tony Stark stands today as a new man. With an even more incredible and invincible armor, Iron Man joined with a revived Avengers team to rebuild the world and protect it anew from menaces of all shapes, sizes and variety. Recently, Stark’s will was put to the test when he confronted Odin, the king of the gods himself, to seek an Asgardian forge to craft weapons for Earth’s heroes during an invasion by Odin’s wicked brother.

Director Tim Burton brings the cult classic series “Dark Shadows” to the big screen in a gothic comedy featuring an all-star cast, led by Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer and Helena Bonham Carter.

Synopsis: In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Depp) has the world at his feet - or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy…until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.

Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles.

Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth’s ne’er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Roger’s precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis, played by Jackie Earle Haley, and David’s new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.
