Big Brother Gives His Teen Edition 4 Housemates a Cosplay Challenge
The Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 4 housemates enjoyed the cosplay task given to them by Big Brother as they were able to display their creativity.
They were challenged to create costumes inspired by “Super Inggo and Super Tropa”. This task was handled easily by house mate Myrtle Sarrosa, coined as the “Cosplay Cutie of Iloilo”.
An accounting student from the University of the Philippines - Diliman, she drew so much public attention because of her weird but cool anime-inspired costumes. This creativity earned the respect of fans who supported her by parading in front of the Big Brother house clad in anime costumes when she was nominated alongside fellow housemates Karen and Nikka last May 1.
Cosplay, short for costume play, is the newest and biggest teen (and teen-at-heart) craze today. It is a type of performance art in which participants don costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea. It has become an outlet of art and expression of the youth and became viral among Filipino teens as influenced by different Japanese animes and famous western superheroes such as Spiderman, Batman, The Avengers and many more.
Fans of animes and cosplays will be excited to hear the return of the hottest, biggest and boldest cosplay event in the Philippines – Hero Face Off. With the third installment of this only televised ultimate cosplay battle, dubbed as the Hero Face Off 2012, the event will gather thousands of cosplayers from all over the country.
Different categories are open to all aspiring ultimate cosplayers. The “Kids Squad” category is for those little kids, ages 12 y/o and below, and possesses an unbelievable anime look. The “League of Heroes” on the other hand, is for the group cosplayers, with an age range of 13 to 30 y/o. And the “Face Off” category, the ultimate category of the event, is for those individual cosplayers ages 13 to 30 y/o that has this ultimate anime over-all impact.
The winner of the Hero Face Off 3 will take home P30,000.00 and will have a chance to attend and experience the fun and thrill of the Singapore Toy, Game and Comic Convention in September with Hero Face Off 2 winner Jan Erick Torres.

The 31-year-old Filipino-American boxing champion Ana Julaton, known in the combat sport as “The Hurricane”, pulled a successful comeback in the ring against Mexican bet Yolanda “La Negra” Segura, who, despite an almost unblemished record of seven knock outs in eight wins, proved only a boxing junior to survive the catastrophic blow of Julaton.
In a match billed, “Laban ng Lahi presents Bagyo Sa Mexico 2: Ana Julaton versus Yolanda Segura,” Filipino boxing fans will witness the Philippine television premiere of the duel staged in Kanasin, Yucatan, Mexico last May 4. The match will air exclusively on GMA Channel 7 this Sunday, May 27, at 11:05 AM before Party Pilipinas.
The 25-year-old Segura, though backed with a home court advantage, failed to establish her power punching rhythm and finished the 10-round fight behind on points from Julaton. The female Mexican boxer was also fined one fourth of her earnings for weighing four pounds heavier than the set weight limit.
Julaton, meanwhile, made an impressive win in the second sequel of her three-fight deal with GMA Network.
The first ever Filipina boxer to bag several world titles and make it to the list of 100 Most Influential Filipinas in 2009, with a score card of 10 wins, one knock out, and three losses, Julaton reclaimed her throne as one of the best female fighters of the renowned sport.
“We all learn as we go and that will not happen again,” Julaton said in reference to her loss via unanimous decision to Yesica Marcos of Argentina last March. “This is all about winning. I owe my Filipino fans around the world the title back and that is my mission.”
Making her way back to the ring in better shape just six weeks from the loss, Julaton displayed pure boxing excellence before the Mexican natives and millions of Filipino followers almost half-way across the globe from Mexico.

In the first-ever “Princess and I” Royal Caravan to be held at Gaisano Capital Island Mall at 4pm, Kathryn and Khalil will bond with their Cebuano fans and personally thank them for consistently making their ‘royal teleserye’ one of the country’s most-watched shows.
With the TV ratings success of “Princess and I” and the rise of supporters of ‘Kath-Lil’ (Kathryn-Khalil) love team, the “Pilipinas Got Talent Season 3″ runner-up admitted that everything that has happened with his showbiz career so far still overwhelms him.
“At first, I was a bit hesitant to accept the role of Kiko since I didn’t have any experience in acting plus the fact that the cast was made up of very good actors,” Khalil shared. “But then I realized that being a part of this huge project is a once-in-a-lifetime chance, so eventually I decided to step up and take the challenge.”

We all know they’re capable of acting, singing, dancing, and hosting, but how are our favourite celebrities in the kitchen?
We will soon find out as GMA-7 and San Miguel Pure Foods Company Inc. (SMPFC), are launching a new cooking show that will feature the country’s top showbiz and lifestyle personalities.
Beginning May 28, TV host and radio deejay Grace Lee banners “Cooking with the Stars,” the newest addition to GMA Network’s morning block.
It’s a cooking program that showcases delectable, easy-to-prepare dishes that will have viewers’ nationwide craving for more.
A culinary student off-cam, Grace is a perfect fit for the show.
“I am very much thankful to GMA and San Miguel Pure Foods for trusting me with this project. I recently finished culinary school and my past time are reading cookbooks, researching recipes – so mahilig talaga akong magluto at mahilig din talagang kumain. Kaya when I eat, I eat with gusto!” she says.
“This is the first time that we are doing a show with this format, and we are happy to have Grace host it,” says Chef Maricel Manalo, Culinary Services Manager of SMPFC. “As one of the trusted food companies in the country, we always aim to provide our consumers the best in terms of flavor, quality, affordability, and food safety. This show is for them, and we hope to be able to help Filipino consumers make wise, cost-efficient, and of course, delicious choices when it comes to preparing food for their families everyday.”

IBM has banned the use of Apple's Siri virtual assistant on its internal network due to potential security risks.
IBM Chief Technology Officer Jeanette Horan has ruled to ban the use of Apple’s Siri voice-controlled virtual assistant by IBM employees.
In an interview, Horan explains that Siri is a security risk for anyone dealing with confidential information since the voice commands are sent to Apple for translation into text, making it possible to intercept those commands. And since Siri can be used to write emails and text messages, as well as perform searches, and a wide variety of other tasks, it’s entirely possible that sensitive IBM data is being leaked to outside sources.
If privacy and security is also on your priority list and you want to turn Siri off, simply go to: Settings > General > Siri, and slide the option to “off.”

Studio 23 announced that it has acquired the rights to air the highly-anticipated second season of the hit talent search “The X Factor USA” via satellite very soon with judges Simon Cowell, L.A.Reid, and newly-signed and talked about judges - singer-actress Demi Lovato and multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning pop icon Britney Spears.
After months of rumors and hearsays that the two will be filling in on the vacant seats left by former judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, Britney and Demi made it official to the public during Fox’s presentation for its 2012-2013 offerings held in New York recently.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join ‘The X Factor’ judging panel. I’m a huge fan of the show and now I get to be a part of the action. Simon and L.A. better watch out!” said Spears in an official release from Fox.
For 19-year-old ‘Camp Rock’ star, she is just thrilled just by being part of such a legendary group of judges. Lovato said, “To be able to spend each week with Simon, L.A. and Britney watching the best that America has to offer is truly a dream come true.”
“The X Factor” producer and notorious talent show judge Simon Cowell expressed how happy he is that Britney and Demi are officially on board. “I’m absolutely delighted Britney and Demi are joining us,” he said. “Britney remains one of the biggest stars in the world, she’s talented, fascinating – and I believe she knows exactly how to spot the ‘x factor.’ Demi’s had an amazing career in music, TV and film for someone her age. Cowell is yet to announce who will host the second season of “The X Factor USA,” replacing season one host Steve Jones.

Facebook has just released its iPhone and iPod Touch running iOS 4.0 apps called Facebook Camera.
The new Camera app from Facebook allows you to upload and share multiple photos, whereas the Facebook app restricts you to uploading only one photo at a time. With Facebook Camera you can also crop, rotate, and even add 1 of 14 total filters to a photo. Even having just bought Instagram, Facebook has proceeded to release an app that some would say competes directly with Instagram.

Viewers enjoyed the guesting of WBO light-flyweight titlist Donnie ‘Ahas’ Nietes and Toni Gonzaga in the sitcom “TODA Max” where he played as the cousin and trainer of Toni. He was also given the privilege to spar with Robin Padilla.
According to Nietes, he enjoyed the company of the cast of “TODA Max” and salutes comedians after realizing how difficult it is to make people laugh. He said that doing comedy is like boxing because delivering the lines should have a “punch” so it will hit and make a knockout moment.
He also invited “TODA Max” viewers to watch Pinoy Pride 14 this June where he will face Mexican Felipe Salguero.
Alongside Nietes, two Filipinos, Milan “Metodico” Melindo and Genesis “Azukal” Servania, will fight in the upcoming battle. Nietes will defend his WBO light-flyweight belt for the first time, while Melindo will try to take the vacant WBO intercontinental flyweight title by fighting against Colombian Jesus Gelez. On the other hand, Servania will give his everything in his fight against pressure fighter Genaro “Poblanito” Garcia for the vacant WBC International Silver Super Bantamweight title. Garcia was a no-show last March in Pinoy Pride XII against Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista in Bohol but now there’s no stopping him.
Pinoy Pride 14 will be held in Resorts World Manila on June 2 (Saturday) and will be shown on ABS-CBN on June 3 (Sunday), 10:15 a.m. with encore telecasts on the same day on Studio 23, 1:30 p.m. and on Balls, June 8 (Friday), 4:30 p.m. Live Pay-Per-View on June 2 (Saturday) is available on Balls HD and on TFC (Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Milan, London, and Sydney).

Kansas TV Stabbing Incident: WIBW-TV Kansas Employee Stabbed by Intruder
Two people were injured during a bizarre Kansas TV station stabbing. A man broke into WIBW-TV on Wednesday morning, and he stabbed two sales employees before he was tackled by a host of others at the station.
It is incredibly strange that this man did this. He actually called the station's news director on the lobby phone. During the phone call he complained that Department of Veterans Affairs mishandled his case. What this has to do with the TV station is hard to know, but perhaps the man wanted to bring media attention to his case by getting it on TV.
Of course, what he did next went way too far. He threw a lamp through the glass doors, and ran down the halls of the station brandishing a knife as employees ran from him. Unfortunately, he was able to stab two employees, but they were not seriously injured, which is good news.
While this man may have wanted to bring attention to his problems with the VA, a TV station stabbing was not the best way to do it. Now he will be in trouble, and have legal problems to deal with in addition to whatever is going on with the VA.
It must have been scary inside WIBW-TV on Wednesday morning. Thank goodness employees were able to hold this man down until police arrived to arrest him because more people could have been injured or killed during the stabbing if it had gone on longer without the employees stepping in to stop him.

Warner Bros. has just unleashed three character banners for Christopher Nolan's “The Dark Knight Rises.”
The banners individually feature Batman, Catwoman and Bane in what the studio calls “Rain” series. Another series dubbed as “Snow” is set to follow.
Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar® winner Christian Bale again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar® winner Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake.
Returning to the main cast, Oscar® winner Michael Caine plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar® winner Morgan Freeman reprises the role of Lucius Fox.
The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer.
“The Dark Knight Rises” is a presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures, in association with Legendary Pictures. Slated for release beginning July 19, 2012, the film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Jan Petter Vala, who is serving a prison sentence for murder, has hands the size of dinner plates and shoulders like those of an ox. In an alcoholic rage, he used his brutish strength to strangle his girlfriend to death a few years ago.
On a recent Thursday, however, at this summer-camp-like island prison in southern Norway, where convicts hold keys to their rooms and there are no armed guards or fences, Vala used those same enormous hands to help bring life into the world.
The 42-year-old murderer stood watch while an oversize cow gave birth to a wobbly, long-legged, brown-and-white calf. He cried as the baby was born, he said, and wiped slime off of the newborn's face so she could gulp her first breath.
Afterward, Vala called his own mother to share the good news.
"I told my family that I'm going to be a dad," he said, beaming with pride.
This is exactly the type of dramatic turnabout - enraged killer to gentle-giant midwife - that corrections officials in Norway hope to create with this controversial, one-of-a-kind prison, arguably the cushiest the world has to offer.
Founded in 1982, Bastoy Prison is located on a lush, 1-square-mile island of pine trees and rocky coasts, with views of the ocean that are postcard-worthy. It feels more like a resort than jail, and prisoners here enjoy freedoms that would be unthinkable elsewhere.
It's the holiday version of Alcatraz.

Chief Justice Renato Corona, according to his lead defense lawyer Serafin Cuevas will return to witness stand today, the 42nd day of his impeachment trial, after he and his wife Cristina, and their two children, Carla and Francis, signed the medical waiver so he can attend the impeachment trial.
Corona who is being treated for possible acute coronary syndrome at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Medical City in Pasig City will bring his own medical staff to the hearing in case of any medical emergencies.
