Why birthday boy James Yap is excited

Professional basketball player James Yap has every  reason  to be happy. Aside from leading his team, San Mig Coffee Mixers’ victory  in Game 7 of the PBA Semifinals, James will be celebrating his birthday with Bimby, his son by ex-wife Kris Aquino.

"Excited ako na makakasama ko ang anak ko sa birthday ko mismo (February 15). Medyo matagal ko nang hindi nakasama ang anak ko," James told "Bandila" in an interview on Thursday, February 13.

Although Kris and James  agreed on  visitation rights for their son,  the permanent protection order the actress-TV host filed against the cager is reportedly making it hard for him to visit Bimby.  As a result, James hasn’t seen Bimby for months.

Kris' other son, Josh will also see James after quite some time.

Good words for Josh

James has good words for Bimby’s older brother.

"Si Josh mabait iyon eh, ilang taon ko rin siyang nakasama."

James feels overwhelmed for making it to the PBA finals. He scored 30 points during the do-or-die game against Ginebra San Miguel Kings.

"Lahat ng tao nakatutok. Sobrang saya nung nanalo. Masaya ang experience, ang daming nanunuod."

He is grateful to Kris for saying that he has no reason to sell Game 6 of the PBA Philippine Semifinals.

"Wow, thank you. Nasurprise ako doon. Hindi ko ini-expect."

Enjoy life

James not only wished  Kris a happy birthday on February 14. He also wants her to  "enjoy life"  and hopes that they can  resolve their issues someday.


Meanwhile, Kris revealed that even her family was surprised when she defended James.

"Nasurprise siya, pati family ko, James, nasurprise. Sabi ng family ko, 'You must really be happy.' Para magawa ko raw iyon. And i said 'Yes.' Sabi niya, 'If you're happy then 'I'm happy na rin," Kris said during the Thursday episode of "Aquino & Abunda Tonight."

What makes Valentine’s Day more special than getting engaged?

While the announcement came ahead of the day of hearts, the bond that is now shared by Karylle and Yael Yuzon is seen as the toast of this year’s Valentine’s season, a refreshing turn of events given the sordid vein of recent showbiz news.

Clearly, though, it’s no surprise.

Open secret?

Seeing them together more than two years ago really sold me to what they had between them.

While they chose to keep their relationship largely under wraps, it was always an open secret to close observers of the couple.

And who could forget what preceded this current milestone—Karylle going through an excruciating heartbreak in the glare of media. Legions witnessed how she suffered, moved on and triumphed over that trauma.

The ex is happy, too

Surprisingly, even those least likely to become well-wishers have come out to express support. Karylle’s ex, Dingdong Dantes sent his best wishes, while Marian Rivera said she was happy about their engagement.

Her winsome and charismatic fiancé, frontman of Sponge Cola, complements her sweetness with his sharp and amusing demeanor. While these may just scratch the surface of their respective personalities, one can’t deny their incredible chemistry together, and that’s off screen!

Too bountiful to contain

Why Karylle and Yael chose not to reveal their love much earlier is their business, too. We can only speculate based on what each of them went through in the past.

So it seemed prudent for them to draw a clear line separating showbiz and their private lives.

Except, of course, when Karylle announced on “It’s Showtime” that she was going to get married in March.

But then, some emotions, like happiness, are just too bountiful to contain.

tunay ngang 15 minutes lang ang pilot telecast. walang labis, walang kulang. talagang past-paced. no funfare.

ratatat ang pagsasalita nila, parang may timer. mas si boy ang tanung nang tanong nang mabilisan, sumusundot lang si kris. pero pag may binitiwan si kris, the usual her, sobrang impact. out of this world ang tanong. makukuha mo ang point niya, and yet matatawa ka.

since 15 minutes lang ang show, one commercial gap lang with two 30 seconder loads. in layman's term, may dalawang produkto lang na the usual advertisments in the total of one minute ang gap. dapat lang, kase more than that, ano pa ang mangyayari sa show?!

hindi pa sila nagpaka-showbiz tonight.

alam na natin ang lahat ng isyung tinalakay. ang kaibahan lang, si DOJ secretary leila de lima ang only guest sa gitna nina abunda at aquino. sa POV o point of view ni secretary de lima ang anim na isyung tinalakay.

by the way, wala na rin bago sa set, literally, or the studio set-up ng isang nightly talkshow. very minimal. oval-type table lang na may tatlong upuan for the hosts and the guest at may isang malaking LED TV sa likod nila. okey naman. maganda naman. maaliwalas sa mata.

ang isyung pinag-usapan nang sunud-sunod na ratatat at mabilis talaga, ha?---eto ang anim na isyung pinag-usapan:
ruby tuazon sa pabubuko at pag-uugnay niya talaga ngayon kina jinggoy at enrile sa janet lim napoles case;

"may pag-ibig po ba kayo, secretary de lima?", tanong naman ni boy at sinundan pa ni kris ng, "may valentine po ba kayo?".
"i'll just keep it to myself", sabi ni secretary de lima na tumatawa at saka sila nagtawanang tatlo.

"i have two sons at may mga apo na ko. i'm a lola"--pagwawakas ni secretary de lima.
at nagpaalam na sila.

ang bilis, pero ang daming napag-usapan. sinong makakagawa ng isang 15 minute show na walang hindi naitanong, kundi ang king and queen of talk nga lang?!

She’s with ex-BF Kristoffer Martin in GMA-7’s 6PM soap, “Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw”. How is their working relationship? “Hindi pa kami nagkakaeksena kasi sa isla ang taping nila at ako naman, sa city. But if ever maging magkaeksena, wala namang problema kasi we’re still friends.”

How does she feel when Kristoffer’s sexy photos showing him shirtless and in trunks appeared? “Na-shocked ako kasi I thought GMA Artist Center stopped it. Pero okay naman kasi doon sa island scenes nila, natural lang na wala siyang pang-itaas. Hindi naman masagwa ang dating.”

Is it true she’s jealous now that Kris is being linked to “Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw” leading lady Kim Rodriguez? “Naku, bakit naman ako magseselos, e wala na kami. We’re all professionals at kaibigan ko sila kaya walang selos-selos sa amin.”

Still about “Sitio Camcam”, Direk Joel Lamangan just told us that Charee Pineda has backed out from the project, just a few days after she attended the story con/ presscon. “Natakot na hindi raw niya kaya ang daring scene required from her,” he says.

Before Charee, LJ Reyes also backed out from the role. We told Direk Joel to get Vaness del Moral instead. Vaness is a very good actress but she’s underrated so she seldom gets meaty assignments.

Is Toni Gonzaga already engaged?

TV host-actress Toni Gonzaga dismissed rumors that boyfriend Paul Soriano has already proposed to her in New York City, where he visited her and her sister Alex Gonzaga during their family vacation last Christmas.

"Promise, hindi dahil sa tinatago or what, hindi talaga, wala. Nagkataon lang siguro and inakala nila na andoon si Paul and nakasunod siya kahit papaano. Pero hindi kami nag trip na kami lang,"  Toni said in an interview after the presscon of “Staring Over Again,” her movie with Piolo Pascual.

Toni doesn't want to set a schedule on when she wants to settle down and would rather wait for God's perfect timing.

She also recently admitted that she's ready to get married anytime should Paul propose to her.

Surprise proposal

Meanwhile, Paul  said in a separate interview that he would like to surprise Toni and propose to her when she least expects it.

Toni shared that her parents have no objections about giving her hand in marriage to Paul, since they have always been in good terms.  Besides, her relationship with Paul has lasted for seven years now.

"They're (parents) always ready kung sakaling darating na iyon sa moment ng buhay ng mga anak nila. Magandang marinig iyon sa mga magulang mo. Gusto naman natin na sana ganoon yung mga reaction sa mga taong importante sa buhay natin."

 “Starting Over Again”  is  directed by Olivia Lamasan  and produced by Star Cinema.  The romantic drama, part of  Star Cinema’s 20th anniversary presentation,  is now showing in theaters nationwide.
