Jake Vargas Happy To Be Inah De Belen's First Leading Man In The New GMA Aternoon Soap, 'Oh My Mama'

JAKE VARGAS is happy to be new Kapuso star Inah de Belen's first leading man in the new afternoon soap, "Oh My Mama", that will start airing today after "Eat Bulaga".

"Mabait si Inah kaya sa workshops pa lang, nagkasundo na kami agad," says Jake. "Maganda ang role ko rito as Julio, a street smart kid na tutulong kay Inah as Maricel at sa mga alaga niya nang bihagin sila ng sindikato at gawing mga pulubi sa kalye."



What's the challenge of his role as Julio? "It's something new for me. Offbeat ang character ko, originally played by William Martinez in the movie, kasi maangas ako, miembro ng sindikato, but I will defy them all. Dati akong gumagawa ng masama, petty crimes, pero ako ang magiging tatay-tatayan ng mga batang sina Therese Malvar, Jhiz Deocareza, Bryce Eusebio, Sofia Pablo and David Remo na puro magagaling umarte."

Jake used to live with his dad and siblings in Olongapo but he now got his own condo in Quezon City. "Kapag weekends at kung may free time ako, doon na lang ako umuuwi sa Olongapo. Siempre pa, naninibago pa ako sa pagsasarili ko kasi I'm now on my own."

Hit Broadway Musical ‘Jersey Boys' Now In Manil Starring Nyoy Volante, Christian Bautista, Nilo Alejandro & Markki Stroem

JERSEY BOYS' has been filmed before by Clint Eastwood but, sorry to say, this is not one of his better films and he didn't succeed in effectively transferring the hit Broadway jukebox musical on film. The stage version remains to be more emotionally affecting than the big screen version and this you would have the chance to prove for yourself in the Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group's production at Meralco Theatre of the Tony, Olivier and Grammy Award-winning musical from September 23 to October 16.

The show opened in Broadway in 2005 and is still running. It traces how the hit doo wop boyband of the 60s, Four Seasons, was formed. Then we see its rise to stardom and subsequent break up, told from the diverging viewpoints of its own four members who each gives his personal perspective of what happened: four young men from the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey who came together to form an iconic musical act.

The musical's most popular songs are "(You're Just Too Good To Be True) Can't Take My Eyes Off You," "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Sherry," "Walk Like A Man," "Working My Way Back to You," "My Eyes Adored You," and "December 1963 (Oh What a Night).

Leading the cast is Nyoy Volante in the coveted role of Frankie Valli, the lead vocalist of the Four Seasons. Playing the role of singer-songwriter/keyboardist Bob Gaudio, the last member to join the group, is Asian Pop Superstar Christian Bautista. "The Voice" finalist Nino Alejandro plays the role of Nick Massi, bass player who has a good ear for vocals and helps train Frankie in his singing. Markki Stroem in the role of Tommy DeVito, who helped start the group as the Varietones, goes in and out of prison and later leaves the band because of his debts with a loan shark.

Also in the big powerhouse cast are Jamie Wilson, Bibo Reyes, Nelsito Gomez, Mikkie Bradshaw-Volante, Yanah Laurel, Giannina Ocampo-Van Hoven , Altair Alonso, Steven Conde, Rhenwyn Gabalonzo, Emeline Carmela Guinid, Kendrick Ibasco, Gab Medina, and Timmy Pavino, directed by Bobby Garcia.
