Jake Cuenca, Bangs Garcia and Shaina Magdayao Talk About Daring Love Scenes in OFW-Serye "Kung Ako'y Iiwan Mo"

Kung Ako'y Iiwan Mo, ABS-CBN's first "OFW-serye" continues to pay tribute to the hardworking overseas Filipino workers worldwide.   Topbilled by Jake Cuenca, Bangs Garcia, and Shaina Magdayao, Kung Ako'y Iiwan Mo is the first drama series made for the OFWs and about Filipinos working abroad.   "It will truly capture the lives of millions of OFWs around world. We took scenes in the actual workplaces and homes of Pinoys in the Middle East, particularly in Doha, Qatar," said Manny Palo, one of the directors of the drama series.   Because of its unique narrative, Jake, Bangs, and Shaina are proud to be part of this project.   "It was a good experience because it was like an immersion for us. Here, the viewers will witness what OFWs, their families, and loved ones have to go through just to earn a living," Jake said.   As a son of former OFWs himself, Jake can relate to the story of their series. He shared, "I know how hard it is for OFWs to be away from their families. I experienced longing for them and getting worried about their safety."   Meanwhile, Shaina admitted that she was initially wary about accepting the role. "At first, I was hesitant because this is indeed a huge project. However, I realized how privileged I am to portray as an OFW. We all know how OFWs work hard just to give their families a comfortable life," Shaina revealed.   Like Shaina, Bangs also appreciates the social relevance of this TV show. "I believe that 'Kung Ako'y Iiwan Mo' can help OFWs in making other Filipinos, especially those who are left here in the country, realize the many sacrifices that they are making for their loved ones."   Continue to discover the story of how love, family and hard work change the lives of Paul (Jake), Mia (Bangs) and Sarah (Shaina). How will love change their fate and destiny?   Joining Jake, Bangs, and Shaina in Kung Ako'y Iiwan Mo are Gloria Diaz, Sandy Andolong, Maria Isabel Lopez, Ronnie Lazaro, Dick Ysrael, Nikki Valdez, Jojit Lorenzo, Ron Morales, and David Chua. It is directed by Manny Palo and Lino Cayetano.   Dubbed as the first "OFW-serye," Kung Ako'y Iiwan Mo airs after Mundo May ay Magunaw on ABS-CBN's Kapamilya Gold.Share By JED || Full Story @ Showbiznest

$1 Felony Charge Files Against McDonald's Customer

$1 Felony Charge Files Against McDonald's Customer

A Florida man faces a felony charge after he was accused of walking out of the McDonald's in East Naples without paying for a cup of soda.

After filling a courtesy cup with soda Thursday at the McDonald's soda fountain and then leaving the restaurant, Mark Abaire, 52, of Naples, Florida was arrested by Collier deputies and now faces a felony theft charge, a sheriff's report shows.

A manager told sheriff's deputies that Abaire entered the store and asked for a glass of water around 10 p.m. Although the employee told him the cup was for water, Abaire filled it with soda at a fountain machine and sat outside the restaurant, according to an arrest report.

During a conversation with the manager, Abaire declined to pay for the soda, valued at $1, refused to leave the premises, and cursed at the manager, the report stated.

While his charge is petty theft, because of previous petty theft convictions, the charge for drinking the unpaid-for soda was increased from a misdemeanor to a felony, the arrest report shows. In Florida, a third-degree felony can result in a sentence of up to 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Abaire faces additional misdemeanor counts of trespassing and disorderly intoxication. On Saturday, he remained in the Collier County jail with bond set at $6,500.

P60-B GMA Network Price Tag Not Worth the Price According to Manny Pangilinan

P60-B GMA Network Price Tag Not Worth the Price According to Manny Pangilinan

"Too expensive." describes TV5 Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan of the P60-billion price tag sought for rival GMA Network Inc.

"Sobrang mahal yun," Pangilinan said when asked if his group would shell out double GMA Network's market value for full ownership of the broadcast company.

At the close of trading on Monday, listed GMA Network shares were priced at P9.40 each, valuing the company at P31.929 billion.

Pangilinan was supposed to have offered P45 billion for GMA Network, but the three families controlling the broadcast firm - the Duavits, Gozons, and Jimenezes - would sell for at least P60 billion.
Gilberto Duavit Jr., GMA Network president, said in a press release that they "are presently not in serious negotiations with the PLDT group as we have not yet received an offer price that is acceptable to us."

Cinema One Brings ‘Ang Babae sa Septic Tank’ to Boracay

Beach loving moviegoers clad in their colorful summer and pop inspired wear recently headed to the White House Beach Resort in Station 1 with high anticipation of having a grand time at the free beach screening of “Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank” hosted by Cinema One, the number one cable channel in the Philippines.

John “Sweet” Lapus and Cai Cortez, hosted the evening and warmly welcomed hundreds of guests at the resort’s shore which was decorated with colorful bottle lamps and soft throw pillows which set the mood for a relaxing movie watching. Even on the island, Cinema One observed the “Earth Hour” where all electricity was turned off. The pre-show was seamless as the beats of the Island Rhythm Force percussion band and some fire dancers kept the audience entertained until it was time to start the film.

Upon turning on all electricity again, Kapamilya stars and beach hotties Jake Cuenca, Megan Young and Kean Cipriano gamely mingled with their fans also engaged the audience in some parlor games where the contestants won special prizes from the event sponsors.

The film’s lead actress and “People’s Choice for Favorite Actress in the 6th Asian Film Awards” Eugene Domingo who couldn’t make it that night gave the audience a funny heartfelt message on video about how much she wanted to be there but can’t because she’s currently filming the Kimmy Dora sequel.

There are no theaters here on the island so we always look forward to Cinema One’s outdoor screening events where there’s always a free movie treat,” said a Boracay resident. “I love Eugene Domingo! The movie was so funny! I am looking forward to the next Kimmy Dora. Thanks Cinema One!”, shared a guest from Manila.

The film was segued with a mini concert lead by Kean Cipriano and his band Callalily. Shirtless and ripped, the ladies went crazy over his tunes. They swooned and took snapshots of their idol.

The after party sent everyone dancing as DJ Mars Miranda gave Boracay a taste of Top 40 tunes.

History Reimagined in ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’

History Reimagined in ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’

Based on the bestselling vein-thumping mashup novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, Timur Bekmambetov directs while Tim Burton and Jim Lemley produce “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Dubbed as a revisionist tale of the 16th US President’s life as a politician by day and a vampire hunter by night, it stars Benjamin Walker as the iconic commander-in-chief and Dominic Cooper as his mentor. The film also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mary Todd Lincoln, Jimmi Simpson as Josh Speed and Anthony Mackie as Will. Alan Tudyk takes on the role of Stephen A. Douglas, while Rufus Sewell is the film’s chief antagonist vampire Adam.

It was an adventure, like I’m entering a new world I had never been before and I wanted to explore it,” Bekmambetov says of his attraction to the project. “I wanted to meet these unbelievable characters, Abraham Lincoln, his friend, Will, his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, his enemies and his friends. And I wanted to go with him through his journey.”

And what a journey it is, as we follow the young Abraham Lincoln from his childhood right on through to some of the most important speeches of his Presidential career. But as much as we might know the central character from history lessons and his portrait on the $5 bill, here his journey has been reimagined and heightened for a modern audience. Was there more to his lifelong struggles?

It’s safe to say that Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is no ordinary period piece. Anthony Mackie, who plays Lincoln ’s trusted confidant William H. Johnson, reveals that it’s more than just the truth which is being bent for our entertainment. “I think there are many different aspects of Timur’s ability in this film,” he enthuses. “I think if you just look at how far he’s bending the truth you know you’re also going to see that in the camera work and the acting.”

For the actor though, the film’s story is an accessible introduction to a chapter of world history that shouldn’t be forgotten. “The story of Abraham Lincoln and everything that was happening in the mid-1800s in America is so popular that we know the turn of events,” he says. “We know the dates, we know what happened. Timur has given us a different way to look at it and he’s putting people in the position to go back and refresh themselves about what happened. You get a cool story in a new and funky way.

For the actor tasked with bringing Abraham Lincoln to life, Ben Walker, the President is such a complex character that little embellishment is needed to find an accurate portrayal. “When you really look at Abraham Lincoln and his legacy and his life, you realize how truly complex and complicated he was as a man,” Walker says. “You recognize how complicated were the issues that he lived for and that lends itself to playing him. It gives you some wiggle room too when you get to the point where you’re reinventing American history.

“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” opens June 27 in cinemas from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

‘Patrol ng Pilipino’ Examines Erap-Binay Coalition for 2013 Elections

‘Patrol ng Pilipino’ Examines Erap-Binay Coalition for 2013 Elections

The merger of Vice President Jejomar Binay’s party, PDP-Laban and former President Joseph ‘Erap’ Estrada’s Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) has not only signaled the start of the country’s campaign season but has also drawn mixed reactions from their political opponents.

Tonight in “Patrol ng Pilipino,” Ron Gagalac will examine the influence of the Erap-Binay alliance, called UNA or United Nationalist Alliance, on the upcoming elections by interviewing political analysts and members of opposing parties such as LAKAS, Nacionalista, National People’s Coalition, and President Benigno Aquino III’s Liberal Party.

Some of them believe that the creation of UNA can also influence the ongoing impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona because Binay, who expressed his intention to run for president in 2016, would benefit from Corona’s acquittal.

The UNA coalition has already invited popular senatorial bets for their slate including Joey de Venecia III, Loren Legarda, Alan Peter Cayetano, and Francis Escudero. Who else are speculated to be the coalition’s potential candidates in the 2013 senatorial race?

Meanwhile, Gretchen Malalad will learn a new self-defense sport called Krav Maga from Israel that combines striking, wrestling, and grappling techniques that can be used in life threatening situations such as rape.

Know the stories behind the news tonight in “Patrol ng Pilipino” after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN or watch it earlier on DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable Channel 26), 9:15 p.m.

Jennifer Hudson Takes the Witness Stand in Family Murder Trial

Jennifer Hudson Takes the Witness Stand in Family Murder Trial

Jennifer Hudson broke down in tears while testifying at the trial of the man accused of killing her family four years ago.

Hudson, who wore a subdued black dress and whose hair was wrapped in a bun, was the first witness called on Monday after prosecutors and attorneys for William Balfour, who is accused of killing Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew, finished their opening statements. During her brief but emotional testimony, she told jurors her family didn't want her sister to marry Balfour and she spoke about the last time she saw her family members.

The singer at first seemed composed as a prosecutor began asking her questions. But the testimony became increasingly difficult, and she began crying when talking about seeing her family the Sunday before the killings and later when a prosecutor showed her a picture of her mother.

Her voice also broke as she described her reaction when her sister, Julia Hudson, told her she was going to marry Balfour.

"None of us wanted her to marry him," she said, her voice cracking and struggling to hold back tears. "We did not like how he treated her," she said.
