Sharon Cuneta's Mom Elaine Cuneta is Dead
Elaine Gamboa-Cuneta, the mother of veteran singer-actress Sharon Cuneta passed away on Wednesday, October 5, as announced on Twitter by her granddaughter KC Concepcion. She was 79.
Accompanied with the above photo, KC tweeted, "Hi. I just lost the love of my life today. My Mita [Elaine] will forever be the BEST GRANDMA EVER. She will forever be with me. I love you, my Mita."
She later tweeted, "My grandma will forever be my inspiration. She loved life, gave us all beautiful adventures. She knew me more than I knew myself. #SuperLola,"
Elaine, as revealed by KC, has been hospitalized for nearly two months and was set to undergo surgery today, November 6.
Elaine is a former beauty queen, singer, and actress, starring in films such as "Bondying" in the '50s. She had two children, Chet and Sharon, with former Pasay City Mayor Pablo Cuneta, whom she married in 1993 after years of living together. She is also the sister of actress Helen Gamboa-Sotto.

Elaine Cuneta dies at age 79
Elaine Cuneta, mother of Megastar Sharon Cuneta, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 5. The announcement was made by granddaughter KC Concepcion through her Twitter account.

Elaine was pronounced dead at 12:06 p.m. because of profuse bleeding and other internal complications. She was confined in the intensive care unit (ICU) of St. Luke's Medical Center Global City in Taguig for a month.

Earlier this year, buzz about ABS-CBN planning to reboot their millenial hit series Pangako Sa "Yo started to resurface. Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla were tapped to play the characters of Yna Macaspac (Kristine Hermosa) and Angelo Buenavista (Jericho Rosales).
However, the equally-significant senior characters are still left open for clever actresses. Amor Powers, originally played by Eula Valdez, was one of the characters that was tattooed on everyone's mind who have seen and followed the series which debuted on Philippine TV in 2000 and ended in 2002.
Several names have floated playing the controversial role. According to some rumors, Judy Ann Santos was first offered the role while Claudine Barretto was offered to play the equally-famous character of Madam Claudia Buenavista - originally played by Jean Garcia.
For unknown reasons, Juday turned it down so it was offered to Jodi Sta. Maria. For the second time, another actress turned down to play the part because Jodi wanted to have some space and take a vacation from work after appearing for more than two years in ABS-CBN's successful daytime series Be Careful With My Heart.
The latest actress who was chosen by the "powers that be" is said to be Angelica Panganiban. The 28-year old Angelica Panganiban will be playing mother to an 18-year old daughter. This development elicited funny reactions from netizens and we can't help but laugh while reading the comments
