40th Gawad Urian 2017 Winners List

The #40thGawadUrian 2017 winners have just been announced during the awards ceremony held at the ABS-CBN Studio 10, and was aired live via Cinema One.

Presented by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino, Cinema One and the Film Development Council of the Philippines, the 40th Gawad Urian awards night was hosted by Billy Crawford, Jodi Sta. Maria and Butch Francisco, featuring performances by Lea Salonga, Jona, Rey Valera and Gary V.

Alfred Vargas To Tie The Knot Anew With Fil-Italian Wife Jasmine Espiritu At The Manila Cathedral This Sunday

CONG. ALFRED VARGAS is tying the knot anew with his Fil-Italian wife Jasmine Espiritu, but this time, they're doing in church at the Manila Cathedral this Sunday, July 23. "I proposed to her again for our church wedding," he says. "Kasi yung first time namin, civil wedding sa Supreme Court in August of 2010."

Their two daughters, Alexandra and Aryana, will be their flower girls. Jasmine will be in a Cary Santiago wedding gown and Alfred in a Francis Libiran suit. Meantime, Alfred has just finished a new movie where he plays the title role, "Ang Guro Kong Hindi Marunong Magbasa", which is an entry in the coming Cinemalaya Filmfest. He's also starting to shoot a new movie, "Ang Sikreto ng Piso", intended for the Metro-Manila Filmfest.

Read ABS-CBN's statement on Noven Belleza's sexual assault controversy

ABS-CBN has finally released an official statement on the recent controversy involving one of its talents, Noven Belleza, a promising singer who was named the grand winner of Tawag ng Tanghalan on It's Showtime last March.

Noven was arrested last Sunday in Cebu City because he allegedly raped his 19-year-old textmate and fellow Tawag ng Tanghalan contestant (name withheld).

Two days later, the case was lowered to "sexual assault" and the 'Tumahan Ka Na' singer was able to post bail of P120,000. As of this posting, he's now free and back in Manila.

A lot of netizens couldn't believe this news about Noven, even thought it's just a hoax, and waited for any TV reports to confirm if it indeed happened to the singer.

Cebu's local newspapers The FreeMan and SunStar first broke the news Monday, then it was later reported that day on PEP, The Philippine Star, Philippine Daily Inquirer and even on this 10-year-old blog.

ABS-CBN's TV Patrol almost reported it Tuesday night, already included it in its
headlines but it was removed at the last minute.

A day after the supposed report and 3 days after TV Patrol has finally reported the Noven Belleza issue just this evening, and even showed the network's official statement on the singer's case in Cebu.

According to ABS-CBN statement, Noven has asserted he's innocent of the crime charged against him.

<“Noven Belleza posted bail today in connection with the charge of sexual assault filed with the Regional Trial Court of Cebu City. Noven asserts that he did not commit the crime charged and he will prove his innocence in the course of the legal proceedings”

No information yet as to how Noven is, what his plans are after being involved in a rape scandal. Let's just wait if he's gonna be interviewed about it on TV or if he'll be advised not to talk about it in interviews to avoid further damage to his promising music career. - Mykiru.ph
