Anne Curtis To Sing Opera In New Araneta Coliseum Concert (9 Photos)

ANNE CURTIS is all set to conquer the Big Dome anew. In 2012, her “Annebisyosa” concert filled it up, which surprised even her since she’s the first to admit she’s not really a singer. She’s all set to duplicate this feat on May 16 with “The Forbidden Concert: Anne Kapal”.

“Mas marami kong pasabog na production numbers this time,” she says. “I love singing but singing didn’t love me back so I know naman my fans won’t go there for my voice, but they expect a really spectacular show and that’s what I’ll give them. I won’t say who my guests are pero abangan nyo, lalo na yung isa na kaye-yes lang at super kabog talaga dahil pumayag mag-duet kami. My voice naman has improved so I will make birit with Aegis songs and with ‘Let It Go’. I’ll sing songs from the theatre, like ‘Phantom of the Opera’, and also classical songs like opera. I think may future ako sa opera dahil mas bagay raw ang voice ko doon.”

And she started singing an operatic aria. “I’ll just need to study voice para ma-sustain ko yung high notes. O, di ba? Para maaliw ang audience. May baliw-baliwan factor. And this early, may feelers na for the concert to be shown also in various parts of the countries and the world, just like the first one.”

The title, “Forbidden”, is also the title of her new album that will be released soon, with “Made in the Philippines” as the carrier single that you can now hear on radio. The Forbidden concert is directed by Georcelle Dapat Sy with Marvin Querido as musical director, presented by Smart, Cherry Mobile, Belo and Doublemint Gum. Tickets range from P500 to P5,500. Get them from Ticketnet 911-5555 or Viva Concerts at 687-7236.

Anne is also very happy over the positive feedback that her version of “Dyesebel” is getting from viewers. “At least, all our hard work paid off, kahit hindi pa ako lumalabas at batang Dyesebel pa lang ang pinapakita,” she says. “Pinanood ko talaga lahat ng past Dyesebels to make sure mabibigyan ko ng ibang treatment ang performance ko as the iconic mermaid. I even tried to get hold of the original komiks novel of Mars Ravelo on which it was based, kaya lang wala na raw kopya.”

Meantime, the movie she’s making, “The Gifted”, with Cristine Reyes and Sam Milby, is currently on hold because its director, Chris Martines, is on vacation in Spain.
